Extra fees
I recently ordered a part from Walton Motorsport and paid $44 for international shipping at checkout. After the package arrived in the U.S., DHL held it and required an additional $26.89 before delivery. The invoice showed that the item value was only $80.45 and the duty rate was 0%, meaning there was no tariff applied. Most of the extra charge ($17.50) was a DHL processing/clearance fee rather than a government duty. My main concern is that these potential carrier fees were never disclosed during checkout when paying for shipping. I’ve ordered many items internationally before and normally shipments under $800 enter the U.S. duty free. It would help customers if the possibility of additional DHL clearance fees was clearly stated or if alternative shipping options were offered so buyers don’t encounter unexpected charges after already paying for shipping.
