Life changing

Life changing. Complaints regarding price are unfounded, because there's always an option to get full access for free, via simply asking for a "scholarship" found at the bottom of the app/site. They provided me a 100% off scholarship, no questions asked, for 2 years, and I'm both happy and glad to finally be a paying member at $19.99 USD/month now. The scholarship already gave me full access, but Sam Harris, the founder, more than deserves it for this revolutionary app. The world needs more Thinkers like him. I extend my utmost gratitude.

£9 a month for a rarely updated library…

£9 a month for a rarely updated library of Sam Harris's 'enlightened' friends talking in 4 minute clips of obscure, shallow, 'self-improvement' drivel.
Oh look, here's somebody else I have never heard of, but is on the New York Time's Bestseller list (is there anyone that Harris talks to that isn't on that list), telling me not to focus on ambition and material gain.
Righto. Is it okay to focus on my desire to be on the New York Time's Bestseller List though, so I can make lots of money telling people not to?
Whatever.
Anger is bad for you. Envy is bad for you. Social media is bad for you.
Yeah, but charging hundreds of thousands of people £9 a month for some 50 year old recordings of Alan Watts talking to a crowd of hippies is okay. Yeah, do that.

One of the most valuable apps

This app is one of the most valuable apps I've ever purchased. I've been using the app for four weeks now. I admit that the contents are very difficult, but I appreciate that he explains what we are trying to do by meditating rather than just letting us sit or shallowly guiding us what to do. It feels like a shortcut for me as I'm theoretical. My depression and anxiety are so much better after applying this meditation in everyday life.

Waking up has become part of my life…

Waking up has become part of my life now. I have been using it for years and find it an unbiased rational manual for navigating the intracacies of life. As well as using the daily meditations I find the podcast series, especiallg the recent ones totally applicable to my own life abd a welcome support. I'm grateful for all the effort and positive sentiment which goes into this app. Thanks waking up team :))

The most important app you will ever…

The most important app you will ever get in your entire life - if you really stick to the scedule.
It starts with a beginners course and leads you to the deeper end step by step.
Got only 10 minutes a day? Fine. Want 3 hours of the wisest people on earth? They give it to you.
My review may sound like an exaggeration, but this peace of art changed my life.
Worth every penny.

Probably the best on the market

Probably the best meditation app on the market. It's very well done, usability could be better. There's just a couple of points that lead me to not extend my subscription, other than the fact that I've learned the methodology and can now apply it myself:

1) Sam talks too little during the guided meditations. Sometimes there's vague instructions and hardly any guidance. This is supposed to be guided meditation, at the moment it's just a hybrid.

2) Too much focused on Buddhist tradition. We are in 2024, time to start using a modern terminology and stop referencing to old words from a tradition that has lead to one of the most mess-up and materialistic countries in the world. It just feels cheap and new age when they do that. More science, less tradition please.

3) Sam is sometimes too vague, I am still trying to get it when he says to try to "look at the observer", but don't get it because he never really get to the point. I may be wrong on this, but it somehow relate to point 2 that I was trying to elaborate on above.

Sam is a great guy, one of the few who manages to always be on the right side of history. He gave a significant contribution to mankind with this app. Thank you Sam! I still support his podcast and will keep an eye on how this app evolves in the future.

Waking Up ignores their Members

Recently I reached out to Waking Up with a question I had about one of the Zen Teachings. Harris and his people totally ignored me. They refused to respond. Is that how an Enlightened person acts. I'm a member and Harris thinks it's okay to treat me like crap because he thinks he is Mr. Enlightenment. This is proof Harris doesn't walk the talk. He's a Rich Spiritual Elitist. If you say your Awake and you treat people poorly it's all fake. He's a fraud. He's no.more Awake than the Waitress as McDonald's.

They now block VPN on the web app

I have stopped my subscription since I cannot use the web app running a VPN. It's unfortunate that they are now restricting access of paid users in the name of 'security'. I have now subscribed to one of the competitor's service, which works well with VPN. Thanks for all the great meditations Sam, I used to love your product but now it's time to jump ships as your IT team is doing you a disservice.

Very poor customer service

Very poor customer service. I made a genuine error and purchased the wrong subscription model. I contacted them the next day and they promised me a refund. So far, so good. This never materialised. I wasted four weeks of my life following this up with the company and every time I received a lame reply like 'sorry it's taking so long, we're working on it'. I get the impression that they delay, delay, delay and hope you'll just forget about everything or give up. It was a HORRIBLE experience that has left a bitter taste in my mouth. So I contacted Apple instead, who refunded me instantly. While I think the content of the app might be good (seems so), I have absolutely no faith in this company at all. They are totally unprofessional. Top marks to Apple and ZERO to Waking Up.

Great App!

I love this app so much. I was given a code for a trial and tbh didn't think I'd even use it. I have other meditation apps and have been happy with them, so I really wasn't looking for another. But for some reason, I downloaded it anyway, and I'm so glad I did. I love the lectures and theory, I've been listening to them in the car and have actually learned some practical things that I did not know, even as an experienced meditator. I will definitely continue past my trial!

Going back to meditation with this app

This app helped me to give meditation and mindfulness another try. After a longer break of almost 10 years, and the wishy-washy rap that meditation got by the new agers, I decided to dive back into it, mostly thanks to Sam's scientific approach.

And boy was it refreshing!

I consume its content daily, almost 8 months in. Not only guided meditations and the "moments", but also the always up to date library of podcasts and interviews.

If you need to find yourself in the middle of today's chaotic world, this app is the one for you.
