Avoid VPBank at all costs
If you are a foreign national living in Vietnam, avoid VPBank at all costs.
The short version:
They disrespect their customers and violate Vietnamese law.
The long version:
- Slow and inefficient customer service.
- Untrained staff at multiple branches, sometimes disrespectful.
- Extremely slow and inconvenient mobile payment process.
- Frequent "updates" to their mobile banking app, resulting in your account being frozen for a day.
- Violation of the Vietnamese Law on Consumer Rights Protection (19/2023/QH15), resulting in your account being frozen upon your visa expiration date (even if your passport is still valid).
Unfortunately, Vietnam is still a country where consumer rights are rarely respected, the law rarely enforced, and violations rarely punished.
