Amazing Experience!
We stayed at Tremisana and Katekani Tented Lodge in Hoedspruit in August, and honestly, it was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. It was one of those trips that completely exceeded our expectations and gave us memories we will treasure forever.
The itinerary was packed with incredible experiences, including early morning bush walks, a day at an animal rescue centre, bush bbq, and unforgettable days exploring Kruger National Park. We were lucky enough to see an amazing array of wildlife up close — including all the animals you dream of seeing on safari — and even witnessed lions mating in the wild! 🦁 What made the experience even more special were the guides. They were incredibly knowledgeable, passionate and clearly knew the bush inside out. They seemed to know exactly where to go and when to be there to give us the best possible chance of seeing the animals.
The food was another highlight. Every meal was excellent, with a different menu every evening, so there was always something new and delicious to look forward to after a day of adventures.
But what really made Katekani stand out was the staff. Every single person we met was exceptionally polite, friendly and helpful. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and they genuinely couldn't do enough for us. Their warmth and hospitality made us feel incredibly welcome throughout our stay.
And then there was our tented lodge— absolutely amazing! It was huge, beautifully designed and felt wonderfully private and secluded. We could unzip the sides and let the fresh African air in, and having our own outdoor shower and splash pool was the perfect touch. It was the kind of accommodation where you could completely relax and feel immersed in the surrounding wilderness.
Perhaps the most magical part, though, was at night. Lying in bed in our tented lodge we could hear lions and hyenas calling, and they sounded very close! There is something incredibly special about being tucked up in bed while hearing the sounds of the African bush all around you. It was an experience we will never forget.
Katekani truly delivered a top-rate, 5-star safari experience in every sense — incredible wildlife, knowledgeable guides, fantastic food, exceptional staff and accommodation that made us feel completely immersed in the wilderness.
We absolutely loved our stay and would 100% recommend Katekani Tented Lodge to anyone looking for a truly unforgettable South African safari experience. We cannot wait to return! ❤️
