Terrible. Avoid at all cost (literally)

Joke airline, i would sooner not go to a destination than fly with them again. They charge you for anything any everything without making it clear what will incur a charge at any point. It has the slowest check in humanly possible, I was at the desk 15 minutes with the person behind the counter tapping away, no clue what they were dong as no other airline has ever taken that long. Expect to queue for well over an hour and don't expect any comfort on the flight. Solid plastic seats that you can't recline at all. DO NOT USE THIS AIRLINE.

Honestly

Honestly, they frustrated me so much that I decided to write a review on all platforms possible. A disgrace to the travel and airline community. They do not care for passengers, they only care to make money and make you as miserable as possible. They find ANY and every loophole possible to charge you. Make sure you check in online before arriving at the airport or they will charge you $16 to check in.
Do not be tempted to buy your ticket with an agency or third party when traveling with them as they will claim you have 'outstanding balance' and make you pay for it. I paid $99 for a checked in bag, they claimed they didn't receive the payment, charged me a fine $65 at the airport in Bogota. On my return journey to they claimed my bag was included only for the outward journey, so now on return I have to pay another $65 fine to check my bag in. Overall I payed over $400 for a journey that wasn't worth it. The stress they caused (and saw the same happening to other passengers for various other arbitrary reasons) is completely unacceptable. Again, cannot re-iterate how awful they were. Thieves and scammers.

AVOID FLYING THIS AIRLINE AT ALL COSTS!!!!!

Unfortunately, I HAD to travel with this terrible airline because it was the only airline flying the day and time that worked for me. I paid for carryon and a personal item- they made me check my small backpack because they said carryon is only 1 item, even tho on the website I paid for a carry on luggage item AND a personal item such as a purse. After an hour of arguing they made me pay $45. They also tried charging me $25 to literally Check In at the airport because u didn’t check in online. I TRIED checking in online, but the very terrible website And App wouldn’t let me ( this was the fourth time this happened to me). There were at least 7 other Americans that had the exact same issues I had and they all had to pay too. Everyone was upset!!! Also, last time I flew with this pathetic excuse of an airline, they canceled my flight and didn’t even email me!!! I got moved to a flight 24 hours later and they added a 13 hour layover!! I can’t believe it. The time before that, they lost my bag for 5 whole days!! When I finally got it back I was missing my GoPro, wine opener, ray and sunglasses and Swiss Army knife. I would never actually choose to fly with this terrible airline, but have had to make the choice because there were no other options for me. AVOID FLYING THIS AIRLINE AT ALL COSTS!!!!!

This is the worst airline of all

This is the worst airline of all. They have hidden fees which they tell you after the fact. I ended up paying more than the travel tickets. Terrible customer help. No answer on the phone. Don’t use this airline

Terrible airline

Terrible airline. They charge you $20 for not checking online. When asking why they didn't say it's needed they just forwarded me to a lengthy terms of service.
DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM. They will find way to squeeze more money from you.

I actually got my refund last year

I had a refund fight with Viva Air last year before the Covid-19 situation. It was a looong fight but actually I managed to receive a refund from them transferred to my bank account - so just keep fighting and you would probably receive the money. They actually have some people to contact and not just chat robots. Maybe just give up and let them have your money - you can earn better salary working the same hours on your job compaired to the work of the refund proces.

As regards Viva Air Peru I have lost…

As regards Viva Air Peru I have lost count of the emails I sent to them claiming a refund for my flight Lima/Iquitos return which was cancelled due to Covid 19.
In reply to every email, they said that Covid 19 was not of their making.They offered me a voucher which I refused as I had left Peru and would not be in a position to use as it expires the end of November.They emailed me the voucher anyway which my wife and I cannot avail of.
I would be very interested to know if anyone has had any success in optaining a refund from Viva Air Peru or if they have replied to any reviewer on Trustpilot.

Absolutely unreliable company

Absolutely unreliable company, which I absolutely advise against. They cancel flights without notice and only offer you a voucher, without even acknowledging airport taxes, which by law should always be returned when the trip is not made. Avoid like the plague! Unfortunately it is not possible to sue them because they do not have representative offices in Western countries, so they can operate in total illegality. A real crap!

THIEVES - Do not fly with them, you have been warned

Same experience as everyone else here...ViVa Air won't refund me for a flight THEY CANCELED. They even went so far as to mail 30 pages of their policies to my credit card company explaining how they won't issue a refund because the Colombian government decided they didn't have to LOL They also don't abide by THEIR OWN POLICY which states they issue refunds in the event of flight cancellations.

Let's just say I intend to file an official complaint with DOT and any other body and fight tooth and nail over this. Hope someone files a class action lawsuit for this theft.

Avoid at all cost.

This airline is the worst I have ever dealt with. Please avoid at all cost, you have been warned. They have refused to provide refund and the voucher can only be used before November 30th which is too soon. A lot of people won't be able to make it prior to that date. I reached out multiple times explaining my reasons why I can't make it before that deadline but they refused my claim. To anyone else experiencing the same, please file a claim with DoT to make them aware of this illegal practice.

Unreasonable Service

As others have said they are refusing to reimburse flights. They are offering a voucher to be used my November 2020, I have contacted them and stated this is too short a time to use the voucher (we don't even know if we will be able to travel globally by then) and they just respond with a scripted message saying that is all they are offering. When contacting them you can't hold a message chain so when you respond to their response the previous messages are lost and they only respond to the most recent one which is then out of context.

Viva Air are thieves

Viva Air refuses to refund tickets for cancelled flights. Although I made numerous requests to reimburse my tickets, Viva Air only state that I will get a voucher valid till November 2020. I am not in South America and won't be in the foreseeable future, so there is nothing I can do with a voucher. I only have one word for Viva Air : THIEVES !!!

Refuses flight changes or reimbursement during Corona virus crisis

Had a flight booked from Cartagena to San Andres Islands on March 15. Because of Corona Virus, decided to cancel our trip and return back home in Canada, at the request of our government. When I asked VivaAir for credit or reimbursement they refused even though they advertise that they are willing to accommodate changes because of the Corona virus.
Shame on you VivaAir, I urge all to boycott such un-humanistic companies!!!

Avoid!They try to rip you off with every opportunity,shame!

Be careful when you buy ticket online, hidden extra charge on some nonsense medical insurance and flight cancellation. I notice my balance kept on getting higher when I refreshed my browser due to difficulty nevigating on my phone. And I found out they added different extra insurance every time I checked out. You need to manually remove them. This is extra from seating selection, printing boarding pass. Stay away from Viva airline airline because they show no empathy and value in service to make travellers experience easier. If you MUST travel with them, just buy the ++combo to avoid unpleasant extra charge because it is better paying for 20 us dollars for your boarding pass, a useless piece of paper which doesn't even show the boarding gate. Worst experience with any airlines.

STAY AWAY FROM VIVA AIR

It can only be said in one way: STAY AWAY FROM VIVA AIR.

Everything Viva Air is doing is focused on getting more money out of you and it’s done in a way where you normally wouldn’t expect to get charged. E.g. you have to pay for cabin luggage even when you have paid for checked in luggage. You also have to pay if you don’t have a printed boarding pass or if some information like emergency number to call is missing. The most ridiculous is that the information Viva Air will charge you for not having entered is not possible to enter on their website

Viva Air simply makes it impossible not to get extra charged

So STAY AWAY and buy you ticket at any other airline company

This company is truly awful, avoid at all costs.

This company is awful. Their check in staff are primed to get the max possible money out of the customer who thinks he's got a good deal. Tonight, at Bogota Airport, Colombia one of them told me I had to pay extra as I hadn't come with a paper boarding pass. I had it downloaded to the phone, but he said I couldn't go away, get it printed and come back in ten minutes, lies and I fell for it.
Their services are basic, hard seats no complimentary refreshments offered and they do everything they can to prevent the customer finding out how much extra he has to pay for a 'normal' service, like being able to sit next to his wife. I will never, ever use this lot again, they're awful.

we've taken a couple flights with Viva Air Colombia already and the service was always excellent. flights on time and everything correct. no complaints so far for an economic airline.
