National Lottery Days Out worked for me

Further to my previous negative review, I was in a similar position this time with a £25 National Lottery Days Out voucher and I have to say that it worked... I was able to redeem it on the website. The price of the ticket was the same as from the venue direct... no mark-up... and when I got to the venue the voucher was accepted without any problem. So it might be hit and miss but it's certainly not a scam and I'll be looking out for these kinds of offers in the future.

Misleading prices

Visit Britain advertising 2 children and one adult at £50 for Adventure Valley. I used my national lottery days out ticket so only paid £25.

Direct on the attraction website is only £30 for the same size group. VB are massively inflating prices and taking as range of the lottery vouchers. Awful service and too late to rectify

Absolute rubbish, waste of time

Received a £25 voucher through National Lottery. Have tried every which way to actually book tickets to Kew Gardens and each time the timer just spins, telling me to wait and not refresh, and it would take a minute. I must have wasted 30 minutes on this alone. What an absolute load of rubbish. All seems like a bit of a scam anyway - went on the actual Kew website and advance tickets are £17 each for adults. The Visit Britain website advertises them as £19.50, then bumps them up by an extra £2 at checkout. So two tickets directly from Kew total £34. Two tickets from Visit Britain = £43, with no functionality to use the £25 or actually book the tickets. Complete waste of time!
National Lottery need to reconsider who they partner with as this isn't a very good reflection on them for what, I'm sure, was supposed to be a reward for customers.

Oh my god!

Oh my god!, where do I start?

Having lived overseas for 20 years I was looking forward to my return to the 'homeland. What a shock I was in for: On arrival at Birmingham international airport I was confronted with train schedule notice board on which almost every train was either cancelled or delayed. Any attempt to complain was greeted with total indiffence and a couldn't care less attitude. In fact I was warned that any slight show of frustration could attract legal consequences.

I was hoping that this was just a one off incident and that things could only get better. How wrong I was: The public transport system is incredibly expensive but, in general, is unreliable and utterly unfit for purpose. Staff in service jobs are, by and large, unfriendly, unhelpful and couldn't care less. On complaining that my train had been cancelled, I was told: "if you don't like it, get a car". Many town centres were full of charity or boarded up shops. Dining out is ludicrously expensive and usually poor quality.

What was once a proud global empire now has the feel of a run down, tired country which is riddled with depression and poverty and in which nothing works as it should. I will soon be leaving the UK again, but definitely won't be returning again.

If you are a traveller looking for an exciting, vibrant, welcoming and value for money destination, then the UK should be at the bottom of your list.

Horrendous website

Horrendous website. Trying to book the anfield abseil experience and constantly the dates are greyed out, you refresh the webpage and the dates appear but not the ones you want. You have to constantly press refresh until you’re lucky enough that the site displays the dates you want. Finally managed to get the dates I wanted after numerous times refreshing the webpage. Proceeded to payment, error on the webpage. Multiple times I had the circle of death during the payment process. After about 10 attempts it worked! Good job as the laptop was about to get smashed to pieces as that’s how frustrating you get trying to use this website. Easily the most user unfriendly website I’ve come across. Don’t wast your time unless you want to smash something to pieces in anger.

Really nice experience!

I can see that there are bad reviews on here, however I had a great experience with Visit Britain earlier this year. I placed my order for Afternoon Tea Canal Cruise using my £20 voucher code from the This One's On Us promotion and I have received my order confirmation immediately and downloaded my ticket from it. The cruise location was easy to find based on the information found on the website and the cruise itself was lovely! The people there were very accommodating and friendly :) :) Really enjoyable and good experience all around!

Disgusting service, do not use this site

We ordered 3 tickets through the website to go to Kensington Palace on 31 May. We received an email saying the tickets would be sent via email 48 hours before. Having not received them, we rang and were told they would send them, they didn’t, further phone call and we were given a code they said would work. I then received an email as the office closed to say due to a glitch in the system no tickets had been issued and we could re-book!! This was an arranged day out for our 83 year old mother. Rang this morning to be told that this happens regularly and there would be no compensation or discounted tickets. Absolutely disgusted. DO NOT BOOK THROUGH THIS SITE. They take your money and have it for months, but no tickets. You have been warned.

Shoddy Service

We received emailed "tickets" from the £20 off voucher scheme which was great - although you cant actually call them tickets - for a visit to Wisley tomorrow, which we booked some weeks ago. Unfortunately yesterday I suddenly become unwell and when we contacted VB today to ask if we can re-arrange the date to next week, we were told we hadn't given enough notice - sorry, if I'd known I was going to get sick I'd have arranged that sooner! It's not even as if the tickets are for an indoor venue, Wisley is mostly outdoors and we weren't asking for a refund. In addition to this, the QR code on the emailed "ticket" doesn't work and we are unable to access it. Very disappointed, and now we will have to pay a further fee to get into to Wisley. Really shoddy service, not even a service.

Ordered 2 tickets for Kensington…

Ordered 2 tickets for Kensington Palace. Web site very, very slow and kept crashing. Received an email to say tickets will be emailed 48 hours prior to the event.
Tickets did not arrive, spent hours on the telephone trying to contact VB without success. Kensington Palace ticket manager could not locate any tickets for our day and time of entry booked by VB. I have complained but so far I have not been successful. I will email the CEO as the VB website is totally misleading. Our tickets were emailed to us by a company called Travel Trade 11 days before the date of entry. I did not open this email as it was an unknown address that I was not expecting. This company was promoted by Martin Lewis on his TV show to help save money. Quite the opposite experience for me as I had to purchase new tickets at KP.

Booked tickets using the £20 off…

Booked tickets using the £20 off voucher started off no problem. A week later received a text and email to say my order had been cancelled no explanation given. Contacted them given a generic reply no offer of compensation or option to rebook. Just booked direct in the end. Would never recommend.

Avoid

I booked a couple of tickets for a wildlife park through Visit Britain under their £20 off promotion. My daughter got ill the day before (requiring hospital treatment) and we wanted to re-arrange for another date, they said 24 hours isn't enough notice and gave us nothing in recompense. Really poor, would never book through them again.

Westminster Abbey visit with £20 voucher

I visited Westminster Abbey with the £20 off voucher for the newsletter signup. Voucher was delivered quickly and I was able to book with GoldenTours/Graylines and their ticket was emailed quickly as well. There are a lot of negative reviews on here, but my experience was great. Thanks VisitBritain!

Dishonest and misleading

Their customer service is useless and they do not honour their own promotions. My friend and I signed up to a promotion (ending 31 March) where you get 20 pounds off for signing up to the newsletter. Our codes came days apart and when we tried to use them within the alloted time, they did not work. A message said the promotion had ended which went against their own terms and conditions.

Terrible company

Terrible company. I booked a day out through the website and a confirmation email was sent but no tickets were sent. I tried customer service and heard nothing. When I contacted the venue directly luckily they had my booking so they could send me the tickets. They sent them within minutes! Book direct don’t use this website!

£20 voucher promotion does not work

visit Britain (a civil service organisation) is running a £20 off promotion to be used against selected tickets to tourist venues. It does not work.

Ive tried 4 times over the period of 2 days and now my voucher codes done work. I select attraction, the date, the time, put my card details, put in voucher code, then i get an error message

and now my code does not work. I am trying to help my parents with their code too.

Last time they did a promotion there was problems with taking payment and the same is happening again.

They are a civil service organisation to promote British tourism. So disappointing

Visitbritain Scamming Shop Avoid Them

Ordered 2 X visit London Oyster Visitor cards with £40 credit on each. They never arrived by stated date and still had not arrived by the time I departed on my trip. Bloody hopeless to deal with disgusting customer service, I just wanted a refund of monies they stole from me but got excuses.
Now I've handed it over to Visa card protection and reported them as a fraudulent merchant.

Don’t even bother with them

Purchased a day travel card then became concerned that I’d been scammed after reading poor reviews however my card did turn up!

Unfortunately there’s a scheduled train strike for the day my ticket is valid for.

I’ve contacted the company with regards to my options as I wanted to just travel the following day instead.

They responded with their terms and conditions stating that no refunds would be given due to rail strikes.
I do understand it isn’t this companies fault that strikes occur and that they are running a business and that’s why they won’t offer refunds

BUT I don’t want a refund I just wanted to use my ticket the following day, you should be given the opportunity to use the service that you’ve paid for especially if refunds aren’t being issued so now I’m £30 down.

Not a good representation of Britain

Ordered Oyster Card in good time for travel as described in web-page and with indication of travel days - but the order have not turned up even the day after returning from my visit to Britain.
Not a place to visit and does not represent Britain for anything good.
