Problem with PVC gables
My gingerbread gables arrived not completely painted with primer. You could see sections that were were transparent to the natural color and texture of the PVC material. There were pencil measure marks and pencil signatures. When I called customer service, I was told that they get the product milled by a third party and had nothing to do with the finish of the product. She must have been in training because she had to put me on hold for minutes at a time to go ask someone else for every question I asked. I feel like I did not get the quality product that was described on the web site. I will surely not be referring them to other builders.

Hi Melissa - I am very concerned you were not entirely pleased with your Gable Decorations or our customer service. Please allow me to explain what our phone Rep should have explained.
We purchase boards and sheets of AZEK Cellular PVC (the leading manufacturer) for resale and for producing many of the products we make, such as Gable Decorations.
As it comes from AZEK, the boards and sheets have a mill finish that is indistinguishable from painted wood. However, this is not paint or primer, but the surface finish of the material as created during manufacture. Our AZEK items are not primed or painted.
When we cut or sand that mill finish the interior of the material is exposed. However, because AZEK Cellular PVC is so fine grained and consistent throughout the material, we have always felt cut or sanded areas are of better surface quality than most of the woods we work with. In the case of Gable Decorations in particular, we feel once they are installed into gables the difference will not be noticeable from the ground. Obviously, you feel otherwise and I respect your opinion. In fact, I'll be changing some wording at our website in consideration of your opinion.
In reviewing our website description of our AZEK products, I realize we can do a better job of explaining the above situation and discussing painting. Currently, our main AZEK Description page states, "Because Cellular PVC is impervious to moisture it does not require painting. Some customers prefer to lightly hand sand the cut or moulded surfaces for a smoother finish or to remove very faint streaks of surface yellowing sometimes produced during moulding."
Today I'll be changing that wording to something more definitive. Thanks for pointing out the need to do that, as the last thing I want is for our products to be inaccurately described.

Queen Anne home a Showpiece with Vintage Woodworks!
I began restoring an 1889 Queen Anne home in 2001 and ordered ALL the porch posts, newels, spindles, railings, decorative Gingerbread wood work to complete the home. The front porch and upper Veranda with Vintage Woodworks made the house a "Showpiece!" The company handled the entire project and were helpful in suggesting/selecting pieces that would make the house more authentic in it's preservation. Vintage Woodworks was a "happy match" for
