Unjust parking fine
I stopped at the Esso station. The parking signage stated “45 minutes free parking for customers.” I parked my car, entered the station, and purchased a coffee.
There was no restroom available inside the station, so I briefly went across the street to use a public restroom. I returned within approximately five minutes and well within the free parking period. Despite this, a Vestpark issued a parking fine.
The parking company later claimed that by briefly leaving the premises I was “no longer a customer.” This condition was not stated anywhere on the parking signage, and I find this interpretation unreasonable. I was clearly a paying customer and did not misuse the parking facilities in any way.
I appealed the charge directly to the parking company and provided proof of purchase, but my appeal was rejected without any explanation.
