Apparently a luxury pad in Majorca
My parents paid a lot of money for a villa in Majorca but a lot of things didn’t work and it was passed it’s best. If you are spending a lot of money you expect everything to work including the coal bbq. When explaining the issues the house manager lied and said it was all working. They will not publish any bad reviews. Only good. Awful company
Absolutely disgusting
Absolutely disgusting. They market themselves as some kind of luxury alternative to Airbnb but they are anything but. The property we booked was not only not as advertised (e.g. an appartment —which I had actually filtered out — and not the villa promised), it was absolutely filthy. I can't believe how unclean. And whenever I contact Vrbo support they don't offer to do anything about it. Our holiday is ruined. It doesn't feel like a holiday when you're staying in an absolute dump. I would rather be at home.
118 Back River Bend: A Sad relic of a grand house built by proud owners No Stars
Just got back from a memorable visit to o n e o ne eight ba ck riv er bend in beautiful Georgetown Maine. Place is a long neglected home of some really nice people. Nobody has cleaned, polished or removed the cobwebs for years. Upstairs sink almost fell on me when I brushed my teeth. Kitchen cabinet next to stove is not attached to wall (ask me how I know). Dishwasher doesn't clean (soap door does not open). Deck chairs (in best view in Maine of the river) are super uncomfortable. All heating ducts are clogged with grime. None of the dishes were clean even after taking into account the hard water (hard water is very typical in Maine) Shower downstairs was clogged with some foreign matter that caused a six inch deep puddle in which you must stand. Place was old and moldy, too far gone to be clean.
Beware the Vee Are BO claim that p ets are allowed. Not applicable to C Ats (they are not "pets") We had to submit a C A T resume from prior V R BO rentals to get our cat Papal Dispensation, delivered just 4 days prior to our arrival under a "long standing cat prohibition."
Shower head was inoperable due to iron stuff in the water. As most ME cabins have bad water, this was the W or S T (i.e. water did not flow until I cleaned it out.)
No "as-advertised" fireplace, picnic area at the "end of the point" "Pets Allowed $100.00" does not apply. Stay a w a y from this place.
Gorgeous location, great view off the deck if you can ignore the chicken wire on the railings.
All in all, a really b ad experience. Won't be back and won't submit a futile neg a tive review to VR BeeOoh.
A sad relic of a grand house in a great location built by proud family owners that has been neglected for many years. A bit of attention would convert me to a once-a-year customer. Won't happen, I guess.
Such terrible customer support
Such terrible customer support, dreadful.
You pay up to 30% in charges, one way or the other. Fact.
This Company take charges in the region of 30% of the cost of your booking including charges to the owner and also their charges to the customer. These charges I build into my prices as an Owner, obviously because I have to get those charges back somehow! Those who book a therefore paying approx 30% too much. What for? Who knows? I’ve been an Owner on this Site for over 6 years and I’ve yet to find out what you actually get other than smoke and mirrors. Do your research and book through another website, or better still book direct with the Owner.
Garbage company
I have booked a total of one VRBO rental in my life, and it was for a cute spot in the heart of Paris in April 2020, for a holiday that was cancelled when the world locked down for COVID. The only reason I ended up out of pocket for a holiday I was prohibited by law from taking was because I used this thieving company and not their competition, Air BnB, who fully refunded everybody who could not make it to their destination. VRBO flatly refused, stating it was my problem and not theirs. I can't post a link here, but you can read about it by searching "Airbnb Said It Would Give Full Refunds For Coronavirus Cancellations. Vrbo Told Renters To Take A Hike."
I had also booked flights, car rentals, hotels, and travel packages. This was the ONLY service that I did not eventually receive a full refund from, and I did not receive even a partial refund. I would literally rather light my money on fire than ever give a nickel to this thieving company again.
#### Avoid
#### Avoid, they take your money don't provide any services and give you no way of speaking to them ####
I was let down at the last minute, so used Vrbo to book an apartment in Colone.
Within seconds of completing the booking, the owner contacted me via Vrbo inbox, and said there was an issue with dates as Vrbo's calendar does not match with theirs and they could not fulfil the booking.
However, the money still went off my card.
The Owner told me they had not taken any money and asked me to deal with Vrbo Directly.... this is impossible.
Chats take over an hour to connect, and the operatives are unhelpful or just leave the chat.
However, after several hours, Charnille A promised me a refund, within 5 days.... this will be 12 days ago and still no refund.
I am currently speaking to my credit card company about this being fraud.
I will not use Vrbo or any company connected to them again, and would other people stay away too
Poor after holiday help
Well, I wish I’d looked on here sooner. Great at asking for your cash. I also paid for accident insurance which I now need. What a nonsense trying to claim. Of course you can contact their 24/7 help team. Unfortunately they are very busy hhhmmmnn . Not surprisingly.
Vrbo.rubbish
Booked a holiday with this company, and they just decided to cancel it four months after booking it. No explanation or no reason, just we have refunded your deposit. No replies to emails, and owner at Ca's Mestret in Majorca, just as bad.
We must all complain to trading standards to get something done
avoid this company, you could end up stranded with nowhere to stay as happened to us, we booked a weeks holiday back in march paid in full, journey 300 miles to our holiday destination to find our accomodation was double booked, they tried to say it was our error and our booking was for next year which was a total outrageous lie and i had proof, have contacted them for explanation but they have ignored me just wish I had looked on trust pilot before booking with vrbo as I am not alone with this disgusting state of affairs there's not one good comment so please don't be taken in by this company of cowboys
Simple, clear reservation process.
In November of 2021I booked a house at the Kicking horse mountain resort for late March of 2022. I was made aware there was no refunds available for cancellation (even if caused by COVID) so it was a bit of a gamble. The process of booking was simple and the property we rented for a long weekend was perfect. No issues at all. Clear communication between VRSBO, the managing agent and myself. I'd be happy to use them again.
AVOID LIKE THE PLAUGE
Cancelled a booking well within the time limit for full refund. Said they refunded but did not and keep arguing they did. Tried to contact UK customer services but number un-obtainable and NO other contact details so cannot email or phone anyone to assist which sort of says it all really. Basically, they are keeping (or trying to keep) £1500.00 of hard earned money. Now going to do a chargeback with my bank card as a last option.
Don't touch it!
I need to be clear, the room was good, nothing to say, clean, quiet, comfortable.
But never ever book via Vrbo!! Don't touch it! I paid the day of the reservation via credit card, everything was confirmed via mail etc, the money was debited from my card, I did the check in process as requested. However the day of my arrival I get phone calls, emails and SMS from another (!) platform telling me that I hadn't paid and couldn't get my room. I was already in town at that moment. Due to Cannes film festival virtually impossible to find another room in the area. After many phone calls nobody felt responsible or capable of resolving the problem. I even had my bank contact them directly to confirm that my payment had gone through. The platform's suggestion was that I do the payment process again... Yeah, right ;) Very bad organisation, no transparency, tasks are not clearly distributed, a big disaster for the client. And obviously I'm not the first one. So again: DON'T TOUCH IT!!
In contravention of trades description act 1968
Just booked a property, had and email to confirm the booking swiftly followed by end email for the host. Apparently the prices online were out by £1500 and they will cancel my booking and give me a full refund. This is in contravention of the trades description act and completely unacceptable. Do. Ot use this company 😡
IF I COULD GIVE ZERO, I WOULD
DO NOT BOOK THROUGH THIS ‘COMPANY’. We booked a villa for 14 of us last October for this July. Looks like the property is illegitimate, owner is non-responsive to us or Vrbo and they don’t care. There is no more accommodation in the area for our budget with less than two months before travel and Vrbo don’t care. They suggested turning up and seeing what happens. Asked for a manager to call me, told ‘there’s no guarantee they will’. Call centre guy told me he can’t tell me if anyone has ever stayed there and even if they did their reviews won’t show up as the listing is not currently active. AVOID.
Very poor service
As a homeowner that solely rents our vacation home through VRBO the service of late has been very poor. When it was Holiday Rentals one could speak to someone in the UK but now call centre seems to be in Far East where the line quality is poor and trying to explain an issue is very difficult. We were provided with a designated manager however of late he has failed to respond to emails, despite a number of requests, which is enormously frustrating.
Awful ... We booked and paid for a week in a…
We booked and paid for a week in a lovely looking and well reciewed French gite in Bruniquel ... the directions were awful. However, after 30 mins we found it. The gite was in a junk yard of old cars, the owner was absent, we could see his trousers drying on an airer in the property. Vbro had probably not advised him of the booking. The balcony rail, over the fast running river Ayveron, was febble and dangerous (a heath hazard) and the gite backed too a busy road. The owner did not respond to our emails or phone call before arrival in France or whilst at the property. There was a diseased cat present ... with his (owners) dog locked in the house next to the gite too ### OVERALL CRAP SERVICE. ### ...
Oh and then Vbro put us up in a disgusting 'F1 Hovel of a hotel' knocking shop with poo stained communal toilets, nicotine smelling rooms, shagging noises at 4am and residents spitting god only knows what out of the widows ... all this conveniently (NOT) located between a motorway and an industrial estate.
VRBO accept SCAMMERS - do not want to hear about it STAY AWAY
VRBO does not care about legal or lawful business.
I contacted them about SCAMMERS - their hosts making up prices - do illegal changes- the disconnected the chat when i tried to explain.
Stay away!
Just terrible.
Shocking Business - Property Owners Avoid!
As a property owner using multiple OTA's over many years I have never, ever come across this before (and as I have now de-listed from VRBO I hope to never come across it again).
Customer makes a booking £990 - Our deposit is £245 (non refundable). VRBO collect deposit AND their Customer Service fee of £99.60 and send to us our deposit MINUS the commission (on the full value of the booking plus payment processing fees).
We receive £178.86 - Not £245 which we should be paid.
Client unfortunately then has to cancel and forfeits the deposit and the VRBO Customer Service fee.
We should receive the FULL £245 but NO!
VRBO retain not only their Customer Service fee BUT ALSO the commission that had already been deducted from our deposit - we do not get paid the full £245 - we are left with £178.66
So, from a booking of our property (subsequently cancelled), from the total amount paid by the client of £344.60 we received £178.66 and VRBO retained £165.94!
How can they justify that! - if they levy 6% commission, then ok, 6% on the final value of the booking - £245 NOT on the original £990!
Bad, Bad business practice - the maths is stacked only one way - in their favour.
I have had 3 conversations with Customer Service and they just don't get it, they refuse to accept where I am coming from on this and so I have de-listed my property from their system.
I pointed out that without us and all the other owners properties to rent they would be NOTHING! To me they are NOTHING.
I shall continue to beat the drum for customers to #BookDirect. You get a cheaper deal, you are in contact with the property owner direct and you will get far superior customer service.
If people only searched a little bit further to find the property and then contact them to #BookDirect then together we'll put paid to these vultures once and for all!
Shocking customer service
Shocking customer service. Booked a place through their site early March, received cancellation 11/4/22 (4 days before due to checkin) contacted owner to no avail and customer support over webchat asked me to call premium number and basically told me to contact them after 48 hours if no refund received. I will not use their site ever again
