What has happened to the US Mint’s integrity?

The ordering process is vague and outright deceitful for limited edition releases. I have tried to order each of the Morgan and Peace commemorative coins and have had to give up every time. The online ordering system was not available and I spent hours trying via telephone only to get a busy signal and a voicemail telling me that if I left my number, the first available rep would call me back. Well that turned out to be an outright empty promise. No one has ever called me back. I would also like to know who set the mintage rate so ridiculously low. I have decided I can’t compete with the coin dealers’ robo-callers. I am contemplating ending my subscriptions. For people who want fairness, honesty, and integrity just remember that the mint is part of the same government as our Congress. I would recommend buying coins from the Canadian or British mints.

I agree 100% with all of the other one…

I agree 100% with all of the other one star reviews of the US Mint. I have been purchasing coins from them for 40 years! I went on line to purchase one each of the type 1 and type 2 West Point and San Francisco Silver Eagle proof coins the exact minute all three were made available. They were in my cart all three times. It's like an eBay bidding purchase. Since they have my current credit card information on my account the payment should have been seamless. Payment was not accepted all three times. All coins were gone within 5 minutes. I had to purchase them at double the US Mint price to keep my collection current since 1986. The US Mint is not interested in individual coin collectors anymore who have been loyal customers for decades. If they were they would have allowed one coin per collector and no bulk orders to coin dealers before the available date as pre orders. Why would they do that with a 200,000 mintage? So sad that a US institution is no longer interested in serving the dedicated coin collector. Like others I will stop buying coins from the US Mint after 40 years. It is not worth the aggravation and disappointment. Just another US institution failure. I am sure that their management will never read these reviews, change their purchasing, or have interest in the dedicated coin collectors who have supported them all these years. Their customer service representatives give no valuable advice and are of no help with these ongoing issues.

Same as other average buyers

Same as other average buyers. Coins in bag but unable to check out after 1/2 hour of trying. If they are only going to cater to big buyers they should say so. You can bet those coins will be available from the big coin stores at a much inflated price.

Tried to purchase the Morgan Dollars& Silver Eagles

Tried to purchase the Morgan Dollars, got on right away made it to the checkout, entered all the information went to click confirm the offer and it told me too many items in your bag, tried 3 more times to confirm still would not go through. Same problem with the Silver eagles now. This is a joke! The mint caters to the big coin dealers and could care less about the coin collector. I will never waste my time returning to their site or order from them again!!!!

Tried to purchase 2021 American Silver Eagle this morning right at 12 noon. Had it in my bag and could not get it to final check out, numerous attempts failed. At 12:07 got notice it was no longer available. For long time buyer this is very disappointing! Something Is not right. Very poor customer service.

This is possibly the worst online…

This is possibly the worst online retaer I've had the displeasure to deal with. Calls. Texts, emails are not returned. Ordering online is a steeplechase of hurdles, and even when order is ready to place and all appears well, the site "gags" and you're out of luck... again. Clearly there is NO priority in terms of service.... I am done with the U S Mint

The Mint needs to invest a bit more in its website

Every time I go to order the popular silver dollars it's a roll of the dice if it actually goes through. I get all the way to the end where it says "place order" and it crashes constantly until the item is finally out of stock. They really need to beef up their website so these crashes happen or let a more reliable 3rd party like Amazon handle this. American's pay way too much money in tax dollars and some of that needs to be invested in the mint website to prevent these issues going forward.

The worst part is that they postponed the release of the popular silver coins to look into this very issue and I see no difference other than they have a page that pops up now occasionally making you verify you are a human. That effectively added an extra step that was never there before and it is now even hard to order the coins because it takes more time to do the human verification.

In the end the government just made the problem even worse. I'm assuming they must have purchased a cheap software solution but who knows.

Tried to purchase the 2021 silver…

Tried to purchase the 2021 silver dollars on each issue date promptly at 12:00 pm and was not able to check out on any of the three occasions. I am a long time mint customer and feel this is not fair to the majority of consumers. After this experience; I will most likely stop making anymore purchases. In all fairness, these should have been produced in amounts similar to the silver eagles.

Silver Dollar disappears

Horrible experience. Tried to call the Mint to order 2021 US Silver dollars. They hung up on me 10 times. Then I tried to order the silver dollars online. My cart was constantly rejected until it said the product was no longer available. The US Mint website is a complete joke. Trillions of dollars have been spent in the last year, but obviously not a dime on the Mint website. Website should be shut down, and have a third party distributor sell and process coin orders.

Horrible ordering and customer service

I think the mint is a perfect example of how not to run a program. They have people willing to overpay for stuff that won't go up in value... yet they still make the experience horrible. I don't usually rail on government agencies... but the US Mint is an example of bad government. Again had issues trying to order on their revamped website. I am planning on only buying after market coins from now on...and I am 99% sure I will make out better (pay less)... and won't have the frustration of using their site.

The worst online checkout that I've…

The worst online checkout that I've ever experienced. Loaded my shopping bag at 12p sharp. Bounced out of the "complete order" twice, then told to prove I'm human and had to do this three times before being let to the final checkout step. Then told that the items are no longer available. Wasted 1/2 hour of total frustration. They can take their overpriced crap and lump it; I'm through with 'em.

The US Mint has got to get better…

The US Mint has got to get better software or outsource to someone like Amazon who can get the job done. Tried to buy the 2021 Morgan & Peace dollars, went through multiple tries on purchase screens only to find a message saying “ The page you were looking for is no longer available“ multiple times. One even wanted me to verify as a human even though i’ve had an account with the mint for 15 years with all my data in it. This is beyond ridiculous that collectors get the shaft while dealers pay their minions $25 a coin to make orders for them! We all see what’s happening US Mint & you do little to discourage it!

UNTIL YOU CAN RESOLVE YOUR PROBLEMS PLEASE SET THE HOUSEHOLD ORDER LIMIT TO ONE ITEM PER TYPE FOR AT LEAST THE FIRST SIX HOURS OF THE SALE DATE!!!

Terrible waste of time trying to order from this site

Just tried to order Peace Dollar. Had it in the cart at 12 noon. Was already registered and had payment method saved. Spent from 12 to 12:28 trying to complete order. Was redirected to prove I was a human about 6 times and sent to a bad page link over 20 times. At 12:28 got message my item was no longer available and to remove from cart. Had also tried to phone customer service to order and got message needed to use website. This is then WORST online experience with any company website ever. They should be ashamed to waste people's time like this. Invest in some hardware and get some competent programmers! If this is representative of US government technology no wonder we keep getting hacked.

Just checked Ebay and over 400 confirmed order listings at 12:40.

The USMint ordering process is an…

The USMint ordering process is an absolute failure. Has been totally so for many months, maybe years. Just got two items in my cart on lower mintage items, and despite 10-12 tries couldn't check out. Then products get removed from cart. The biggest and best country in the World cannot get a website that works. This is over, and over and over again. Pathetic!!

Pathetic ordering software

It never gets better...the same poor software/algarithms/server capacity that cause site crashes, gateway errors or frozen "Your order is being pricessed..". Tried to get a 2021 Morgan Peace dollar exactly at 12 noon but all I got was 8 errors in a row and then they were sold out. This is WITH my payment/address saved in the website. My last 2 orders gave me confirmation #'s and even charged my card only to eventually see it go from "processing" to "backordered" to "canceled" weeks later. David Ryder should be fired but as long as he meets sales quotas (to reseller bots) no one cares. It has been a pathetic web experience for years. Very sad.

Worst buying experience

Tried to order the American Eagle 2021 One-tenth ounce Gold Two-Coin Set. I was online and watched the icon change to allow a purchase at the exact time it went on sale. Within seconds, it was in my cart. My credit card info was auto saved and was immediately filled out. Upon trying to finalize the order, the system said it was sold out. Reading the other similar comments, this is completely unacceptable for a government run business. I tried calling the mint afterwards and got disconnected over five times before giving up.
