Fraud Alert: Zero-Star Review for Urban Home Market (EV Southern)
This is meant to be a zero-star review for Urban Home Market (EV Southern), as my experience has been nothing short of a nightmare. My experience with the company, staff, and owners was nothing short of rude and evasive measures to cover up for their criminal theft. After a successful purchase in 2021, we decided to order custom furniture on March 20, 2024. We paid in full $24,807.78, only to be met with a series of unprofessional and frustrating interactions.
Initially, we were told delivery would take six to eight weeks, but after countless attempts to get updates, we received nothing concrete. In an effort to get some movement on the order, we requested delivery of the few items they had on hand, which amounted to $20,486.00 still owed to us. Unfortunately, the original salesperson left due to poor leadership, and we were left to communicate directly with the owners, Ken and Kate Delgreco, whose unprofessionalism and deceitful behavior were astonishing. They repeatedly assured us they would contact the manufacturer and lied about the manufacturer not responding.
After much persistence, which required us to repeatedly go into the store to catch the owners, we were promised a refund check on June 20, 2024, but when we arrived to pick it up, yet again, we were left empty-handed. The Delgrecos continued to lie and stall by making excuses about their accounting system and how it would take additional time to generate our check.
To make matters worse, when we called Universal Furniture (manufacturer) directly, where we immediately got a live representative, we discovered that the Delgrecos had NEVER PLACED our order. Universal Furniture had no record of our order, confirming theft. We hope to receive help with our complaints filed with the Hoover PD Financial Crimes Unit, The Better Business Bureau, and the Alabama Attorney General.
In short, Urban Home Market has taken our money and left us without the product we paid for while operating as if nothing is wrong. Do not make the mistake of doing business with them. Save yourself the headache and find a more reputable company!
