Highly recommend - installation of a new boiler (VitoValor)
Absolutely delighted with the installation of our Boiler (Viessman VitoValor) by Matthew and his team. I cannot recommend them enough!
We had a Viessman VitoValor installed by Unity Heat in March 2022 and it has been running, keeping us warm since (currently December 2022).
We live in a fairly draughty, large period property (5 Bed with 3m high ceilings, half a meter stone walls) and had a very old heating system when we moved in. Running costs for the old boiler were averaging £220 a month in gas (@3p a unit) over the year (smoothing summer and winter) as it’s a solid stone house it can be quite cold most of the year.
Our original plan had been to move to air source heating (and our new radiators we had installed and pipework we put in was over sized to allow it to run at a lower temperature) but after much discussion with a few different companies we were starting to realize given our current insulation levels and cost of electricity this could potentially be very expensive (also requiring an upgrade to three phase). Thankfully we found the VitoValor option on Heat Geeks and were referred to Matthew and his team by Viessman.
Matthew got in touch, did a heat calculation for the property and advised us on which model we would need, setup etc and how it would tie in with what we had. We needed/wanted the majority of the radiators to continue to be non-pressurized. Nothing was too much trouble, he took time to understand what we had done and answered all our questions (and we had lots of questions!).
Everything went very smoothly. We had updates from Lauren from the office on the ordering, delivery and installation dates. Whenever he or his team were on site they were very professional, didn’t stop working from the time they arrived to the time they left and were very thorough in cleaning up as they went and after the boiler was commissioned.
Thanks to Matthew and his team everything just works (so much so you tend to forget its actually there). The setup allows us more control over temperatures across the house (most rooms are around 18 degrees with our lounge and open plan kitchen/living room being 21 at set points in the day), its weather compensated, runs multiple hot showers and generates the bulk of our electricity and has been for the last 9 months. We rarely have to do anything with it or touch anything – it simply works maintaining the various temperatures (with geolocation and pre-heating). We have a log burner in our main lounge and the thermostats turn off the heating in that room when its on.
The best thing is we haven’t had to change our direct debit – despite our gas going from 3p to 10.39p a unit (~3.5x increase), the house is still the same temperature its always been and our electricity is now largely covered by the VitoValor fuel cell (a massive saving).
It is quite staggering how bad our old boiler was and how efficient the Viessman VitoValor is (the majority of time the boiler operates around 35-40 degrees, we still aren’t quite use to rooms heating up with barely warm radiators).
People kept telling us to change our boiler when we moved in but its only with hindisight that we really understand how in-efficient and expensive the old system was. I wish we had prioritized changing it much earlier on in our renovations – especially had we known how smooth the process would have been.
