Saint-Paul-de-Vence, Cannes and Antibes from Nice, France (with PD)

We've always been independent travelers, passionate about walking and exploring at our own pace, though work often interfered. After my recent Parkinson's Disease diagnosis and forced retirement, we finally had more time—but my complex daily needs transformed simple holidays into daunting, carefully planned operations. Still, I'm determined to delay using a wheelchair as long as possible.

My partner needed this break even more than I did, and I wanted our trip to Nice to be magical and memorable. We decided private tours were the best option, allowing flexibility if I struggled or felt unwell without impacting a group. It also meant my partner could continue alone if necessary.

We found UniqueTours Riviera, offering a private guided tour to Saint-Paul-de-Vence, Cannes, and Antibes. Booking was straightforward, and I could easily note my Parkinson's Disease and limitations.

The evening before our tour, our guide and driver, Mago, contacted us via WhatsApp. He was genuinely understanding and thoroughly discussed our expectations and itinerary, thoughtfully addressing my limitations.

Mago arrived punctually the next morning in a spotless, spacious Mercedes minivan stocked with bottled water. As we headed to Saint-Paul-de-Vence, we were immediately impressed by his extensive knowledge and engaging storytelling—he even encouraged my attempts at speaking French!

Mago cleverly avoided crowded tourist routes, guiding us on a scenic, gentle descent into Saint-Paul-de-Vence, highlighting local history, flora, fauna, and picturesque viewpoints perfect for photos. He was constantly attentive to my mobility needs, allowing my partner to fully enjoy the experience.

We discovered stunning hidden artwork displayed throughout the village and explored local gems such as an olive and balsamic oil shop and a delightful nougat shop—both highly recommended. Lunch was pre-booked under a magnificent tree in the village square allowed me to recharge, savoring authentic local dishes.

After lunch, Mago conveniently brought the vehicle closer, saving me additional effort before heading to Cannes. The scenery shifted dramatically as we arrived, and despite concerns about the steep climb, I managed to reach the old castle's spectacular viewpoint overlooking Cannes—well worth the effort. Mago guided us through the city center, marina, and to the iconic Cannes Film Festival venue, where we admired famous actors' handprints and indulged in some window shopping.

Next, we journeyed along the breathtaking coastline to Antibes. Here, we explored the impressive marina, charming town center, historic market, and churches. True to Mago’s promise, we visited an incredible gelato shop, both of us indulging in three scoops each—a highlight of the day!

By this time, fatigue had set in, and I was grateful to return to the air-conditioned comfort of the vehicle. On our return trip to Nice, Mago provided engaging, gentle historical commentary, thoughtfully distracting me from my tiredness. By the time we reached our apartment, I had recovered enough to sincerely thank him for creating a truly memorable day.

Mago's attentiveness and genuine care for both our needs were exceptional. His passion and deep knowledge of local history made every moment enjoyable and educational.

If you're traveling with a disability, we wholeheartedly recommend UniqueTours Riviera—and especially Mago—for a comfortable, insightful, and unforgettable experience.

Mago's awareness of my condition and needs made this trip extremely enjoyable for me, whilst also making sure sure my partner also had a great and memorable time
