As a ebike converter, I thought I would fit one of these to establish the quality and judge if it was an item I could offer to customers.
I have to say the quality is not the best, most parts look and feel cheap, and are not of the quality I was promised for a 'premium' kit.
It wasn't easy straightforward to set up with the app, which kept crashing.
I was particularly worried with the pedal assist which after turning the cranks a few times then continued to power the bike for over 1/4 mile with no pedal input at all, seeing as there are no brake lever cutouts, this I deemed to be dangerous.
I contacted the helpline in 2 occasions, on the first I was given guiding on how to setup the app, which seems very un-user friendly, that worked for a while,then had to be continuously reset.
On the second occasion I asked to return the kit for a full refund as felt it was somewhat inferior to other kits, and with potential of a runaway bike I wasn't keen to persue it any further. I was flatly refused a refund, until I reminded them of their obligation under the 14 day distance selling act. I returned the kit, and had to chase for the refund 3 weeks later!

Brought this last year been working fine up until now but trying to contact company and noticed Website and all other platforms have disappeared not sure if the Company is still operating.
Got a warranty as well.
Just seen they replied i contacted that number and had no reply and number is a Chinese number

This product is great, and the customer service experience was also great. So good, in fact, that I felt the need to review it, which I almost never do (ain't nobody got time fo dat).

The kit is fairly straightforward to fit thanks to the surprisingly comprehensive set of tools that it comes with. Once fitted, it does what it says in the advertising. I've had it on for a couple of months, and done 1000km or so.

RANGE I'm getting about 60km out of a battery charge on 50% assist on the flat, on quite a heavy bike with a 80+kg rider.

BATTERY The best thing about this kit that it has over other similar products is the very elegant battery management technology. Smart gyros and an adjustable top assist speed mean the motor (and therefore battery) only work when they are needed. This greatly improves range per charge, meaning the relatively small battery is capable of big things, and only takes a few hours to charge from empty.

POWER: Uphill performance is also good, with just enough power to take the edge off on *really* steep hills but still need some input from the rider (which is what I want, rather than a motorcycle). For gradual inclines, little to no effort is needed from the rider.

Power application is nice and smooth too, picking up at 6kph and pushing steadily until the top speed is reached. The variable top speed influences battery life, so if you're happy to ride a little slower, you'll go farther (23kph seems to be a sweet spot for me - it's good if you can cut the power near your natural cruising speed).

MODES: I also appreciate the 'climbing' mode, which just functions as a normal bike until the gyro detects a hill, then kicks the motor in for assist. Great for full-day rides where some fitness is the goal. You can always kick into manual mode or up a notch when you start to flag. Being frugal with the assist or using climbing mode, a full day ride on a single battery charge is absolutely doable...at 100% assist into the wind or on a hill, without effort from the rider, an hour of powered riding is more realistic. I find this absolutely suits my needs, as I want to work together with the bike rather than be completely carried by it.

CUSTOMER SERVICE: I'd like to say thanks to Jamie from Ultra, who responded promptly throughout the order process, answering questions reliably and knowledgeably, and taking care to make sure things ran as expected. I'd be confident of reliable help if needed at some point in the future.

The all important question is: if it was stolen, would I buy the kit again? The answer to that is a definite yes. It has changed the way I view cycling and made it a realistic alternative to a car for my purposes.

I've got a Bakfiets Short Classic Cargo Bike [2 small kids] and fitted the Ultra e-bike system. It's TOTALLY changed my riding experience and made it fun and effortless. I used to map my journeys to avoid any [even small] hills but with Ultra - I RULE THE ROAD. It makes the bike weightless and takes me from Zero to Hero in the blink of an eye. Cargo bike = £2k, Electric Cargo bike = £4k. Ultra e-bike system cost me £500 to upgrade to electric. DO THE MATH!! it's one of the best decisions I've made. I am over the moon and have been raving about this to all of my friends.

The spec looks brilliant. Unfortunately dealing with the customer service end of the company, when poised, ready and waiting to purchase, has left me with all the motivation of a dog when the lead is picked up for a rainy winter walk.

The tone of the emails received left a lot to be desired and concerned me regarding any after sales service.

I am writing this even though I haven’t taken my bike for a long run yet but just local. So far I am very impressed with this kit wasn’t too hard to fit or set up but still learning about the app.
They answer your emails really quick and the delivery was fast and well packaged.
I had such a bad experience in the past that I was a little reluctant to buy one again but this company has made it easy.
I have been around local on the bike and so far I am really happy with this product and will add some more to this review in a month or so once I use it most days for commuting.
Having used this for work everyday and some local shops I am still very happy with this product I will be getting another kit for my husbands bike soon. Really can recommend this kit love it love it love it.

Very very quick delivery and brilliant communication with the company.

It arrived safe and sound and packaged well. Instructions were fine and it was easy to set up on an old carrera bike. Spacers came with it to ensure it fitted the fork correctly. I have ordered the display module as I prefer to keep my phone on my person instead of on the phone holder. You can buy frame bags which does the same thing though. I found it a little fiddly at first to get going with the app, but I emailed and immediately got the response to re install app and its perfect. I like the climbing facility which allows you to set the elevation before the motor kicks in. Although I'm on hybrid, I think that would be fantastic on a road bike.
I got loads of pbs from my ride home using this, with little effort too... You can set your effort level easy too

This has breathed a new lease of life in my old bike, and I'm thinking of getting another 2.to covert a Mtb and an old steel framed road bike too!!!

Its not too heavy and the battery does resemble a bottle..

Great product

The Ultra Ebike kit was so easy to install just as described, and the battery design is great. I gave it a quick charge and out I went, I found I am enjoying the cycle rides and can cycle so much further and the hills are no longer a problem, you still need to pedal but the assistance you get is fantastic. The app is so easy to use download, press Bluetooth connect to the bike and you are good to go. With a sliding % scale to select the required assistance, the optional thumb throttle is also A great addition with instant assistance as required at the push of your thumb overall I am very pleased with my kit and am getting a lot more mile in 👍🏻

The ultraebike kit is better than you could imagine

If you want an Ebike kit for your own bike that helps you out on them difficult hill climbs and riding into wind i highly recommend the Ultraebike kit.
I would get the throttle as an exra definitely as the kit works better with it rather than the App on your phone and i get the physical exercise i want with the peddle sensor and straight to the throttle for them stubborn slopes.
It was very easy to install i just had to add the extra washers to my new front wheel for it to fit , but it was simple.The water bottle battery is genius as you can take it with you when you want to lock your bike up somewhere.

Ultra ebike is a brilliant piece of kit. It came beautifully packaged and was simple to fit. Not much more than just swapping the front wheel!
The design is great, it’s very discrete looking and disguising the battery as a bottle is piece of genius.
My bike has hub gears at the rear so having the motor in the front is perfect for me but, quite frankly, it should suit any bike just as well.
The app which controls the system is really good and easy to use. I use a setting which just gives me a bit of boost when I’m going uphill. You can set the angle at which you want the boost to kick in and you can set the boost amount. I have knee problems and this takes all of the sting out of riding uphill and it’s got me cycling once again.
I’d highly recommend this, especially if you like your existing bike but would like to try going electric!
