Difficulty closing my account and getting the final payment done. One staff member will not advise outstanding balance, refused to transfer call to a supervisor or manager as "they are in a meeting". Refuses to ask accounts and is fundamentally unhelpful and rude. Customers know when they are being mislead and fobbed off. Called back and spoke to her colleague who could not have been more helpful if he tried. Such a shame to have to give one star rating just because of one "cant be bothered" member of staff.

They force you to give your government ID and a biometric photo - everything a criminal would need to steal your identity - to some shady overseas company with leaky servers and no data protection laws. In order to STORE STUFF IN A LOCKER. And they don't even tell you about this requirement until after you've paid. What an utterly unacceptable way to do things.

Bad from start to finish. Emails unanswered. Phone calls promise action with zero results. Store aywhere but with this bunch of cowboys!

THREE YEARS OF LOYALTY — AND A BILLING SYSTEM THAT CONTRADICTS ITSELF
I was a UK Storage Company customer for three years and never missed a payment. The only proactive contact I recall was to announce price increases. I even suggested a loyalty discount for long-standing customers, but nothing came of it.
When I decided to leave, I tried to complete the move-out process in their app. It failed with a validation error referring to the back-office setup. I have screenshots.
On Friday 9 October 2026, I emptied my Worcester unit, left it clean and tidy, photographed it and notified the company. I accept the contractual 14-day notice charge and simply want a correct final account so I can pay what I owe.
Instead, their system showed:
£81.76 — “Insufficient Notice Fee”
£249.02 — A further four weeks’ storage
TOTAL: £330.78
HERE IS THE CONTRADICTION: If they haven’t recognised my departure, how can they charge for insufficient notice? If they HAVE recognised it, why are they demanding another full four weeks as though I’m still occupying the unit?
Perhaps there’s a legitimate accounting explanation. I’ve repeatedly asked for one and received none.
They attempted to collect £249.02 by direct debit. I had cancelled the mandate, so my bank reversed the payment. I then received an automated email saying MY UNIT HAD BEEN LOCKED FOR NON-PAYMENT. The unit was empty, photographed and already reported as vacated. What exactly were they locking me out of?
Contacting an actual person has been equally frustrating. Calls reach a staff member named Ethan, whose obstructive manner has, in my experience, prevented any meaningful progress. I’ve used the app, website contact form and all three published email addresses — admin@, help@ and info@ — and submitted a formal complaint. I still have neither a confirmed closure nor an itemised final statement.
This matters because their terms provide for late fees, interest and collection charges. Will their automated system keep escalating an account that nobody seems willing to reconcile?
I’ve read other reviews describing similar difficulties. My advice: photograph your empty unit, screenshot app errors, retain proof of notice and check your bank account after leaving.
UK Storage Company has been efficient at collecting payments and announcing increases, but my experience of leaving has been appalling. I have retained the photographs, screenshots and correspondence. I’m awaiting their promised response and will update this review if they resolve the matter.
ONE STAR.😢
UPDATE – 24 October 2026: Account finally settled
Following UK Storage Company’s public response, I feel it necessary to clarify several points.
Firstly, my complaint was never that photographs alone should constitute termination of a storage agreement. I gave notice by telephone on 7 October 2026, which was subsequently acknowledged in writing by your Senior Contact Centre Supervisor, Gabriele Blagova.
I vacated the unit on 9 October and supplied photographs as supporting evidence. My contractual chargeable period ended on 21 October.
The difficulties did not end there.
Despite being informed that my final outstanding balance was £85.43, my unit details, entry code and invoice history disappeared from the app. Consequently, I could not complete the security requirements of your automated telephone payment system.
I was advised that BACS payment was available, yet the necessary bank details had not been provided. I repeatedly offered to pay and requested a callback, while receiving warnings that further charges might be imposed.
On 21 October, following further correspondence, Tegan finally telephoned, accepted my card payment and arranged for a receipt confirming a zero balance.
The matter is now settled, and I acknowledge Tegan’s assistance in bringing it to a conclusion.
However, your public response suggesting that I expected photographs alone to close my account misrepresents the substance of my complaint.
After approximately three years as a paying customer, I should not have had to overcome so many administrative obstacles simply to terminate an agreement and pay my final bill.
I am pleased the matter is finally closed. Unfortunately, the experience has left me with little confidence in your company’s administrative procedures.
My review stands.

Update. Called number adviced and told original price is honoured now for the 6 month agreement.
The storage unit and facilities are good and clean. 3 stars because of the hassle about the price increase and difficultly getting in touch with them originally.
Agreed a 6 month contract price. After 2 months I have just been told of a 33% price increase starting immediately. I have to give 14 days notice to vacate, so this gives me 16 days to move. As I am abroad it isn't possible. Can't find their terms and conditions anywhere on their site. Very disappointed. The say the increase is due to energy increases and a new online computer system which explains why I can't speak to anyone they have probably been let go!!

I gave UK Storage Company notice last month that I would be moving out, providing a confirmed move out date. I actually vacated the unit ahead of that date and submitted photographs through their app to confirm that the unit had been emptied.
Despite following the process, I've now had another full month's payment taken by direct debit.
I contacted the company through their messaging system, which states that they respond within one working day. It's now been two days, and I've received no response or acknowledgement.
Moving is stressful and expensive enough without having to chase a company to stop taking payments after you've already vacated and provided the required notice.
I simply want confirmation that my account has been closed, that no further payments will be taken, and that the additional payment will be refunded.
To be fair, the storage unit itself was perfectly fine, and I've rented units from this same company on previous occasions without any issues. That's what makes this experience particularly disappointing. I'm not sure why something as straightforward as ending a rental has resulted in so much unnecessary administrative hassle this time around.

Escape of water in Fareham in November 2025. Notified same day and went and moved all my belongings away from the area. Only partly repaired. Second escape in the summer, did not get told, lots of items ruined. Very unhelpful. Discovered they had added Pro because said did not receive my insurance certificate. Resent it and told would be sorted but a month later and they are still charging. Now getting help from my bank. Their responses have been disgraceful and suggested that not charging me to clean up the mess from their damaged ceiling tiles was doing me a favour. Cannot believe they failed to notify me. Lots of stuff ruined that might not have been if been told. No help moving to another unit even though I am a pensioner

The whole process is way more complicated than it needs to be. I only wanted to store some goods for a few weeks.

Reply from UK Storage Company
Wasn’t as easy as they made out, very confusing with which codes were for what, no mention of where the barrel key would be located. Adding additional people onto the ap was impossible. Once we moved out we had to pay cleaning fees! Which was in the small print!!! And even though we moved out early we were not able to get any refund as we had received a discount! Again all in the small print but not pointed out! Very disappointed would not use again!

Amazing service and great prices. The whole experience was self-serve, however we did speak to someone who was brilliant and so helpful. Really good value for money. The options on sizes is really great too.

Very happy with the service etc. very secure but try to keep it temp. Prices do rise and it gets very expensive. When I started it was £143 pcm by the end it was £343 pcm and that was from December 2025 till April 2026

Shocking service. I rented a unit for 1 month, scheduled a move out online, uk storage sent an email a week before my notice advising they confirm my unit empty so closing my account, I called advising I did need the unit for one more week which was the last week of my contract, to which they said yes no problem. I moved out as agreed a day before my notice ended. They are now sending daily bills for another £130 saying they didn’t receive my notice, despite 3 calls and my online account showing notice given one day after my contract started. Referred to a manager as no manager works on a Monday!!!! DO BETTER shocking service

Really happy with the customer service I received from UK Storage, especially from Liam Reed.
I contacted them recently and Liam was genuinely so understanding about my situation and helpful. He listened to my problem, took the time to look into things for me and came back with a solution that really helped.
I’ve been with UK Storage for over three years and have always had a good experience, but I really appreciated how kind and helpful Liam was this time. It makes such a difference when you feel like someone is actually listening and trying to help.
Thank you so much

Very efficient service to book our unit.
Update from 23rd September: as per the response from the company below, I emailed again on 21st September and no reply has been received. I’ve therefore called customer services again and spoke to a helpful lady who advised that as I was in receipt of a discount, I’m not entitled to a refund for the second half of the month, despite access being revoked to the unit and not receiving any services or responses to my contact attempts. We have a need for storage later this year and will be avoiding this company with a 10-foot pole, as after speaking with other storage companies in the area, none have the same policy and will refund you for the portion of the month not utilised, irrespective of whether you were in a discount period or not. Had someone confirmed this on one of my previous phonecalls or replied to any of my emails, I would have retained the unit until the end of the month and not rushed to remove my items.
Original review:
On 1st September, I gave notice to vacate in the app on the earliest possible date (14th September) and on that date, my access to the app was revoked, so I assumed that my request had been actioned.
However, having checked my junk folder in my emails on 17th September for something else, I found an email from the company the day after I gave notice, advising to reply to the email if I’d like a discount to keep the unit. At the bottom of the email, it asked to call or email confirming I have vacated if I still wish to cancel.
I replied immediately, advising that as per my notice to vacate in the app, I had vacated and unlocked the unit several days prior. I asked for confirmation on when I would receive the refund for the unused days of 15th-30th September.
As of 21st September, I have not received a refund or reply, so called the number in the email. After waiting half an hour to get through, a member of staff picked up the phone. I explained the situation and he asked “but have you actually called to give notice and vacate?”. I explained I gave notice in the app and followed up with an email, to which the colleague replied “10 working days”. I asked “for?” and his response was “for the refund like you asked” which I found passive aggressive. I asked if someone could confirm that my request had been picked up as I’ve had no reply to my email, he said “yes I will take a look shortly”. I asked if someone could confirm that it has been received and is being handled over the phone, given how long I’d been on hold and was told it wasn’t possible, and was asked how long ago I emailed. When I said again that I had emailed 3 working days ago, the member of staff said they’d take a look shortly again and the call ended.
I had previously left a review advising how easy the process to give notice was, specifically mentioning the lack of need to sit on the phone because the function is available in the app. I’ve had a reply from the company advising they were pleased to hear that - might have been an opportunity to confirm that additional step is actually required!

Liam was outstanding. He answered my questions and knew everything about the process and how to make sure I was comfortable.
Mixed reviews on the other customer service but Liam was leagues above the rest.
