My daughter saved for over a year as she wanted a pair of channel shoes for her year 11 prom.
When she finally had the money we went to the designer exchange in Cheshire Oaks and found the perfect shoes. This was in march 2026. She brought them and they took pride of place (still boxed) in her bedroom.
On the day of prom 19th June 2026 she was so excited got dressed and put on her shoes around 6.45 pm. By 7.45 the sole from one shoe had totally peeled away. Completely devastated and in tears as well as shoe less she had to come out of prom.
From looking at the shoe the glue looked clearly hardened and cracked not flexible like it should be.
I returned the shoes the following day to Cheshire oaks expecting the friendly staff to be considerate and apologetic. But how wrong could I be. The manager was so rude and disrespectful. They refused to give me a refund. In an argumentative way she said “well we didn’t sell them to you in that condition” my polite reply being would I spend £450 on a pair of shoes with the sole hanging off! I was then told to email the head office who probably wouldn’t refund me either! They may contact the maker and see if they would repair them. By this point my daughter was getting upset. A member of staff came over and tried to help but she was shut down by the manager who clear had 0 empathy for my daughter and by this point was trying to sell a handbag to someone else. At this point I decided to leave the store. As I walked away the other member of staff said to my daughter I’m really sorry it spoiled your day. The manager said “oh yes sorry and laughed!”
We left the store my daughter in tears £450 (12 months saving) worse off and a pair of shoes she’ll never be able to wear.
I have proof of purchase, time stamped photos of when the shoes first worn until they broke!
This company should not be trading they quite clearly are trained to push the sales then not care of the quality or any substandard items they are selling.
