Udemy has one of the worst customer support
Udemy has one of the worst customer support experiences I’ve ever dealt with. Their refund policy feels more like a punishment than a customer-friendly policy.
I missed my annual subscription renewal by just a couple of hours, and they completely refused to refund me. I didn’t buy any courses after the renewal, and I barely even used the subscription during the entire previous year. Still, no flexibility, no understanding, no real support, just copy-paste replies.
Crappy out of date courses
Crappy out of date courses. I stopped using udemy years ago because the content was useless for my needs. Today, I was hit with an autorenew for another year, I tried to contact support to show them I have not been on for years and there is nothing be a circular AI conversation presented. I tried to email and they return an email to use their support, which leads nowhere. Rubbish.
The worst experience!
The website and app are full of bugs. Customer service is a pure crap. Total rip off.
WARNING: Unauthorised Renewal & Customer Service Refuses to Honor UK 14-Day Refund Law
I am writing this review to issue a severe warning about Udemy's deceptive billing practices and their customer service's refusal to honor their own published refund policy, which violates UK consumer law.
I was charged for an automatic annual subscription renewal on 13 December. I was not aware that the subscription was set to auto-renew, nor did Udemy send me a single email or notification warning me of the upcoming charge. This predatory practice exploits customer oversight and is unacceptable.
I immediately contacted Udemy support on Day 1 (13 December) of the unauthorised renewal charge to request a refund and cancellation.
* Udemy's Response: Support informed me that "subscriptions are non-refundable," directly ignoring my rights.
* The Fact: As a UK customer, I am entitled to a 14-day cancellation and full refund period for online services under consumer protection laws. Udemy's own policy page, "Subscription Plan Refund Exceptions Due to Applicable Law," confirms this right, listing the United Kingdom with a 14-day refund period.
By refusing to process a refund requested within hours of the charge, Udemy's customer service team is actively breaching their own terms and disregarding UK consumer rights. I have been given a deliberately unhelpful, boilerplate response to avoid returning the money for an unwanted, un-notified renewal.
I demand an immediate refund for the unauthorised subscription fee. Potential customers should be aware that if you encounter a billing issue, Udemy's support will likely refuse to help, even when you are legally entitled to a refund.
Udemy Personal Plan auto-renewed
Udemy Personal Plan auto-renewed yesterday despite my immediate cancellation attempt—refusing EU refund rights is unfair.
I tried canceling my Udemy Personal Plan online right after it auto-renewed on Dec 13, 2025, but the system wouldn't allow it. Support ticket followed, requesting refund within the EU's 14-day withdrawal period. They first said "no refunds for renewals," then claimed my rights expired in 2024—ignoring that each renewal triggers a new withdrawal window under EU Directive 2011/83/EU.
This feels like a clear violation for EU consumers. Filing with ECC Romania and FTC US now. Avoid auto-renewals or choose wisely—Udemy prioritizes revenue over compliance.
Bad customer Service
It seemed like the customer service rep (once I finally got through their AI chatbot) put the absolute minimum effort into my ticket. I had to bring up issues multiple times before they finally uncovered the information when actually lookin into it would have gotten everything solved. It was for a refund request. It kinda seems like they make it as difficult as possible to get a refund so that people will just eventually give up and they can keep their money.
Do not use this website
Do not use this website. They've sold me a terrible course! They promised a refund if i was not happy before buying, now I cannot get a refund. I have raised a complaint, and will raise the complaint externally if required.
Agonising mess of goo
This is the best platform for online courses? How the internet has fallen.
Unbelievably bad software. Abysmal. Horrific. Sadistic. Constant agony to use. It's like trying to learn by watching youtube videos on a 1Kbs connection, except they glitch and the audio lags.
Almost every part failed me. The in-website coding problems don't load properly and don't display properly. The mobile app allows downloads for offline, but they barely work and they still try to load over data even when already downloaded (what lies!!) unless you airplane mode your phone. Then every time I go back to web after using mobile it's logged me out and I have to do an email 2FA.
I am astounded how god awful this software is. We've cracked how to buffer videos! This is a solved problem! Why does Udemy teleport me back to 2005 internet?
In the bin. Never again.
I bought a few courses over the years
I bought a few courses over the years. None of them were very goodf an their pricing is ridiculous and confusing and there is not guarantee even with good reviews of courses that the course will be any good. I just returned to revisit one of the courses I purchased and found that several of the courses I previously purchased 'lifetime' access to had completely disappeared from the platform as well as one of the courses having the vase majority of the content removed and changed to a different course. This platform is a complete joke. There are many better alternatives.
Great platform to learn and courses
Great platform to learn and courses are at an affordable cost.
I like it.
I think the quantity of classes to choose from is great! I have only had trouble understanding a few instructors.
Spam-spam-spam-spam-spam
Oh, I have a love-hate relationship with Udemy.
On the one hand, yes, they have great courses, with stupidly high prices, simply so they can claim to have "90% off" and now the same courses are just $15 each. Fine, it's an old sales technique, very obvious, and ridiculously done.
But, when you actually buy a course, and go onto their website, are they like Netflix ? Are they there saying "Okay, do you want to keep watching your course ?"
No, their website bombards you with adverts about other courses, "Let's start learning" - again, about other courses, rather than having the obvious "Keep watching" section ready to go.
It's all about Sales, rather than user friendliness.
Yeah, time to go back to Pluralsight.
They shouldn't be rewarding loyalty with Spam.
Spam-spam-spam-spam-spam.
One other thing to the developers. Get out of your office, and try watching a Udemy video on a train, with intermittent reception.
Netflix and the streamers understand this... they'll pause, and once internet reception resumes, you can continue normally.
And if you try to watch the same video on another device later, sometimes it'll let you continue where you left off, sometimes, it'll continue from where you were yesterday .
It's a mess.
Udemy has been a pretty good experience…
Udemy has been a pretty good experience overall. The courses are wide-ranging and many of the instructors know their stuff. Some course videos could use better editing or pacing, but I still learned a lot from them. Customer support was responsive when I had questions. All in all, a handy platform for self-paced learning.
scammers
scammers. if you ask for refund is like you as for blood.
i do not want udemy credits i want my money in my bank.
if i could i would not give any stars for this scammers.
shame and stay away. are for better way to learn that this scammers
Scammers
Scammers, to cancel a subscription they mislead, first it’s not on apple pay. That way you could cancel any subscription, so company is dishonest i thought i cancelled because i had a vacation but it appears not. I requested a refund on the same day they refuse. It’s a company of scammers and i will never use it again. Also i will let everyone i know know about your wicked way. And greatful there are alternatives but next time i’ll be digging into trust pilot because here we can find honest rating. Good like with my 19$ now, you lost a customer forever what a low Iq
Don’t park with your money complete waste of it
The courses I purchased were in my library have now disappeared. Funny enough all those courses are about learning things such as using my phone and laptop. Yet you need to have a course to tell you how to find them when they’ve disappeared and nobody wants to help you would never use them again.
Return policy is misleading
Return policy is misleading. if you watch 5% of content you cant return it anymore.
Testing buggy beta versions on paying customers
They're testing beta versions on paying customers. Since the activation of a buggy beta version, I have lost access to much of the content I paid for. What's more, navigating the limited accessible content is an absolute nightmare. What Udemy is doing is tantamount to fraud!
The selection of courses is absolutely…
The selection of courses is absolutely a mixed bag, and you have to put in some serious effort to research the courses you want before you commit to purchasing them. I have purchased four courses so far, since 2022, and I was not let down by the experience -- they even helped me pass an official examination! The video player can get seriously buggy and wonky, though, and I wish the company would work more on it.
It is great but
Udemy itself is great, but their cancellation policy is appalling. Considering most of their customers are probably students, they have absolutely zero sympathy for people who cancel their subscription because they forgot about it. Absolutely appalling customer service too
