Tynker is the worst 'coding' service…

Tynker is the worst 'coding' service that my son has used, but that didn't stop them from charging $240 for a yearly account that he didn't use with a $240 reoccurring charge and no way to cancel their services. At this point it looks like I have to wait for them to charge $240 a 3rd time and then reject the charges with my bank and change my credit card to get away from them.

There are MANY better options and a lifetime of quality free and low cost services. Stay away from this scam of a product.

My kids never used it and they aggressively renewed the subscription despite me very clearly stating i did not want to renew. I had to put a stop payment at the bank. Don't start with them

Bad product. Don't buy

I didn't mind the billing practices because I was purchasing straight off. The product is awful if you don't have an apple tablet because the web interface is impossible to find. My son has been in tears whilst weve been trying to get to minecraft mod designer. Ive left it and come back to is again and again. DONT BUY

I have tried for 3 years to cancel my subscription. I have written to them directly. They have trouble tickets out on my experience to cancel the service. I have written to Amex. They won't stop. Do not give them your credit card information. They don't know how to stop billing.

Fraudulent billing practices

Fraudulent billing practices - charged $300 for annual subscription despite cancelling free trial AND already having an active 3 month subscription. Their coding product is actually bad - this site is a SCAM

The company charged me during my free trial period and upon calling them to fix the issue, the customer service agents were very rude, any one guy in particular was very inappropriate asking me where is was from. He told me to not call again. I immediately called my credit card company and will be writing to the bbb. Do not purchase any product with them. Charged my card $300 before the trial period was over and before i was able to cancel my transactions. be aware.

Scam company do not sign up with them. We signed up for the 7 day free trial. And they went ahead and charged 300 on my card without the trial period being over. I called customer service and they kept hanging up on me. I will make a complain at the bbb.and told my credit card company to refund the money back.

This website provides a very limited…

This website provides a very limited number of coding blocks, where even some of the most basic blocks aren't there. It is also very buggy and glitchy, and sometimes doesn't even save your progress, and will say an error occurred. The autosave feature doesn't work as well, so don't rely on it. Basically, don't use this horrendous app.

Avoid!

Avoid! Keep taking my money via direct debit until now since I wrote numerous emails 3months ago asking to cancel and return my money. They don't even reply to my emails and never refund. I had to ask my bank to intervene. Will have to ask again, they charged me today! Couldn't believe it!

Subscription auto-renewal trap

I signed up using a promo in 10/2023. My kids have logins but it wasn't clear that I had a login because I was never able to login myself using the email I used to create the account. I was automatically billed a renewal. The bill has contact information where the listed phone # points to a personal phone # where the voicemail says if you're trying to reach tykner, this is the wrong #. Tynkers forum pages do not load where people ask questions about canceling account and getting refunds. I still have not received an email response regarding cancel and refund. Do not sign up for this service as it is one of those subscription based services where support is non-existent.

Be extremely careful when making payments. Each option is billed separately.

The approach and content appears to be good, less "dry" than some learning platforms for coding. However, be aware, their payment system for subscriptions is tricky. I had been led to believe that I was "upsold" a yearly membership where, for about $70 more, I could upgrade it to a lifetime status. Instead, I was charged twice. Once for the yearly subscription, then for almost an additional $200, I was charged again, for the lifetime membership. Please be careful, each option has it's own charge. Had the system been more clear, I would have given it three stars, but, because of the deceptive nature of billing, I am rating it at one.

Bait and switch

I've been trying different coding apps for my kid and thought Tynker would be a good option to start with. Technically it may be a good option if you pay right away, but I wanted to try the free tier first to see if this is a good fit. Long story short - bait and switch!
Apparently, Tynker was acquired by Byju's couple years ago, and Byju's is the owner of the infamous WhiteHat Jr who used sketchiest sales tactics ever... so I'm not surprised that these tactics now been applied to their acquisition... sad.

Deceptive Practices of Tynker

First, they coax you into downloading their app, insisting on a full registration. Only after you've gone through the hassle of making a full registering do they drop the bomb: the supposedly 'free' app actually demands a $10/month subscription, with no free tier. Congratulations, you've just wasted my time. I promptly deleted the app, but the frustration doesn’t end there. Now, my inbox is flooded with incessant spam emails, disguised as urgent messages like 'Your Child Needs Your Approval.' Tynker's strategy is clear: reel people in with deception and then bombard them afterward. Their moral compass is seriously askew.
