Vacation in Duck, NC
Spent a week with family in Duck, NC at a Twiddy property. 2 weeks prior to our stay I began to receive emails from the company providing insight into the nearby area, the community itself, helpful tips and finally check in and check out instructions. Our experience was wonderful and we will always use Twiddy for our NC beach rentals!
Twiddy is a great rental agent!
The employees at Twiddy are extremely helpful and efficient... and friendly! They deal with problems promptly.
Twiddy was highly responsive and polite…
Twiddy was highly responsive and polite during our stay. The house was beautiful and well kept. We have no complaints.
Positive Experiences Over the Years, Disappointing Outcome
Having rented through Twiddy numerous times over the years, we have generally had positive experiences. Unfortunately, our most recent stay at Evening Sunsets was our most disappointing.
To be fair, the home's sound-side views and location in Duck were fantastic and would have made this one of our favorite rentals. However, the air conditioning serving the entire upper level—including the kitchen, dining area, living room, and primary bedroom—was not functioning for the entire week. The upstairs was already 86 degrees when we arrived, reached the 90s during the late afternoons, and remained above 80 degrees most nights.
Twiddy sent maintenance personnel, who were understanding and did what they could, but the issue could not be resolved during our stay. Given that the home had been cleaned and prepared before our arrival, it was surprising that such a significant problem was not identified beforehand.
Twiddy ultimately provided partial compensation, but we did not feel it adequately reflected the loss of use of a substantial portion of the home for the entire week. While mechanical failures can happen in any rental property, what ultimately disappointed us was the resolution rather than the failure itself. We appreciate the efforts of the maintenance personnel and Twiddy staff, but this experience has caused us to reconsider future bookings.
Disappointed
We have been coming to the outer banks for 15 years and every year we have always had an amazing experience, until now. We pay a lot of money to have a house with a nice pool and the pool at this house smells and is green. We called to complain and no one has come to try to treat the pool. I wouldn’t be writing this post if I felt like twiddy was doing everything in their power to make it right. We have 9 kids with us and all they want to do is swim. There is a community pool and we would be fine with using that but we are not permitted to use that pool. The homeowners of poppi shores in Corolla should be trying to make it right.
Best renter on the Outer Banks
Best renter on the Outer Banks. Came to Outer banks in the 1980's and just got back to it 6 years ago. Oh what a delight! We went through several rental companies before we found Twiddy. Twiddy is the absolute best! Will always be with them. Our family loves our place and our dog loves the REAL GRASS yard.
We have been renting through Twitty for several years
We have been renting through Twitty for 4 years, with trips twice per year. We have experienced problems, equipment breakdowns. Twitty has always been prompt and seen to our needs.
This was our first time renting a home…
This was our first time renting a home through Twiddy & we had a fantastic experience! Twiddy was quick to answer any questions we had.
We stayed at Caribbean Queen 5/23-5/30 2026
We stayed at Caribbean Queen and had a total of 16. Amazing view and great amenities- cannot say enough about the house, the kitchen, wet bar, beds, towels, and appliances. TVs in every room, 2 washers and dryers, 2 dishwashers, I could go on and on. Loved the pool, hot tub and beach access. If you’re thinking about a beach vacation for a crowd this is your house.
Felicity in Pine Island
Just spent a week at Felicity in Pine Island, overall the house was great, very clean and comfortable. Future renters should just be aware of a few problems. The kitchen refrigerator, a SubZero side by side, did not work. The refrigerator never got below 48 degrees and often was reading around 50. Food was definitely not cold and all perishable items had to be stored in the smaller fridge on the ground level which was inconvenient to say the least. Also neither outdoor grill worked. Lastly, using two showers simultaneously on the 2nd level (the king bed room and next door queen) caused the king shower to shut off.
We stayed at the vintage views
We stayed at the vintage views. Everyone should be aware that there is one bedroom that you step down into it. There is no warning, no sign, no bright tape across floor of doorway or anything. I fell hard. Is taking many chiropractor appointments that my insurance doesn’t pay for. Please be careful. Otherwise lovely home
The Best Rental Company on OBX
We had such an amazing experience with Twiddy that we will never rent with any other company again. From check-in being so easy, to issues being promptly handled, to accommodating our every need they were professional, friendly and amazing to work with from start to finish. They found out we had a teenager with a birthday and even had pastries and a small gift delivered to the house. Hands down the best on the Outer Banks.

Twiddy is basically Motel 6
Our experience with Twiddy Vacation Rentals in the OBX was beyond disappointing. What was advertised as a premium beach house felt more like the Motel 6 of vacation rental companies.
The listing was inaccurate, and several amenities that were clearly advertised were either broken or not available at all. Some bathrooms didn’t even have basic supplies like toilet paper. One shower had such low water pressure it was completely unusable. The dishwasher was broken for the entire week, which meant hand-washing dishes for 14 guests, three meals a day, for seven days. That is not what anyone signs up for on vacation.
The house itself was not properly cleaned. There were cobwebs on multiple surfaces, visible rust throughout, and an overall neglected feel. For the price we paid, the condition of the property was unacceptable.
Customer service was effectively nonexistent. We reported the issues, and nothing meaningful was done to resolve them during our stay. There was no urgency, no accountability, and no effort to make things right.
Also worth noting: reviews appear to be filtered, showing only glowing feedback. Based on our experience, you are not getting the full picture when you read the listings.
For the amount of money these homes command, expectations should be much higher. We would strongly recommend considering another rental company. You’ve been warned. Terrible consistent reviews on TrustPilot, Yelp and many other pages. The feeling is clearly unanimous and Twiddy clearly does not care.
They used to be a good company
They used to be a good company. Rented from them for years, but never again. Houses are broken and dirty and they charge you for services they never deliver. Avoid at all costs.

Very poor
Rented a house on the Outer Banks through Twiddy. The home was The Sound and The Sea. The kitchen pantry was covered with red ants and the ocean side of the house were covered with dead bugs. Pool area a mess with trash and dead bugs, garden hose left on second balcony. Arrived on Sunday, took until Tuesday for someone to come clean it up. Red ants never went away. Definite disappointment for the money. Put a damper on our family vacation. Inside of home was nice.

Dolphins leap in duck was horrible
Dolphins leap in duck was horrible. It was the worst kept cottage I have ever been to or rented and we have been coming down to the obx for 45 years. The smell was so bad we tried to clean filter didnt work. The walls were bubbling and peeling everywhere, Thier was mold on the ceiling throughout. The furniture was so dirty, smelly and hairy from I assume dogs. All the bed sheets were covered in pet hair. The toilet seat was so old it looked like it was there in the 60's. The sink clogged and didnt go down until we spent money on a plunger and cleaning supplies. The whole screened in porch was torn apart and moldy. cockroaches roaming around. it was horrible!!!!!!!!

Twiddy is not reliable rental agency
DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!!
Spent over $17.000 to rent a house in Outer Banks from them in August. Broken appliances,
rusty and torn beach chairs and area around pool was filthy! Everything should have been clean and in working condition for the high rent charged. Had to call several times for repairs. Once home, I heard similar stories about Twiddy. They need to inspect rental homes for cleanliness and working order before renters check in!
Property was APPALLING!
This property was in unacceptable condition and shows a lack of oversight. The home smelled of mildew, vents were caked with mold, linens and dishes were filthy, and dust covered surfaces—basic cleaning was not done.
The exterior was unsafe: the deck is falling apart with splinters and rusty nails, siding is deteriorating, outdoor furniture and amenities (BBQ, pool table) were filthy, and the pool pavers were dangerously hot.
For the price charged, this level of neglect is inexcusable. Your team must implement strict pre-arrival inspections, safety checks, and proper cleaning before any guest sets foot in the property.
Oceans 8 in Corolla
Oceans 8 in Corolla, NC. Our 4x4 restricted beach drive is approximately twelve minutes. We have been privileged to see wild horses daily, in our yard. The house is spacious and conducive to a large family/group. The kitchen is well equipped, but all necessities, dishwasher pods, trash bags, kitchen towels, counter cleaner, zip lock bags and any other ...aluminum foil, etc. are not provided. Sadly, we did have some issues... upon arrival, our water did not work. It was a quick fix and was up and running the same day. Sadly, the hot tube was inoperable until Thursday of our week stay. We did have internet/wifi issues which was frustrating as many of us had responsibilities to work/to school which required internet/wifi access. The pool did not have proper filtration and thus, was not clean. Again, the views, the location, the wild horse, all of it was truly amazing and we would absolutely look into renting this home again, but it does need some TLC.
We are currently staying at The Gem
We are currently staying at The Gem, which is not a rare diamond. We arrived to stained bedding, which I spent our first full day cleaning. Then the real fun began. We discovered roaches. Not one, but multiple roaches. Spoke with Daphne from Twiddy, and she explained that the bedding is not washed between rentals due to time constraints. I guess if the cleaning folks see blood stains, they just ignore them. Pest control is being arranged, and Daphne let us know we can remain in the house. A Google search says otherwise. Now I have to leave with my 89-year-old mother, out of the house for hours, during and after. Also, the hot tub is broken and leaking.
No offer of restitution. No offer of another rental. Just we will see if we can get someone there today.
This home is for sale for $3m. Buyer beware. You will have issues and squatters with antennas living in your home.
