This is my second time with Try Tag Rugby : this time in Manchester in 2025, I’m loving it . The experience today definitely matches the promise .

I’ll be honest by saying I tried Tag before in 2015 over in West Yorkshire and didn’t have a great time back then at all. Our “beginner” league was stacked with very experienced rugby players who treated genuine beginners with contempt . There were also snide comments from the friend of the organiser. Although I enjoyed the game itself, I didn’t like the attitude or the vibes and promptly left

It takes courage to return to something where you thought you weren’t made welcome . One evening I decided to have a second go and I’m so glad I did . I got a warm welcome from the organiser and my new team mates who have been encouraging me from day 1. Whenever I get the ball they yell encouragement and I feel I’m sprinting faster than I have ever done with this positive feedback .

The team is working well . I scored in my first game but had a foot in touch so that was disallowed ; but in game two I scored a try and in my last match two tries .

I’m much calmer as a result and am really enjoying the game - so much so I see tactics now whereas before in 2015 I was just running to keep up . I draw defenders in and pass at the last possible moment to create opportunities for my teammates . I als read spaces better at speed. In short, this format is making me a better rugby player . And I’m loving it

My only criticism is the social side . That was fantastic in 2015 but our league in Manchester is in Burnsge in the middle of nowhere without a host pub . This means that people just leave to get changed out of wet clothes . Which is a shame - hence the 4*.

Otherwise all fantastic - 40 mins is the sweet spot for many people who are not in the gym everyday and I’m loving the camaraderie with my new team . I hope to play tag for many seasons to come .

Highly recommend! This is a fantastic way to stay active, meet great people, and have a lot of fun. Rog does an excellent job running a well-organized and friendly social league.

Thoroughly enjoy playing tag amongst many friends and strangers. Very fun and engaging experience and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to become more social and active. From my personal experience, I have found the tagging community are very welcoming, positive and kind. It is a great social circle to be involved im and am a proud tagger.

My teams have played in a couple of leagues across South London. Sian R has been a fantastic league co-ordinator - organising the league brilliantly and also making sure everyone has a good time. Tag rugby is a very fun sport and probably the best mixed you can play.

Great fun, you can start off at an incredibly basic level and grow. Good fun, good environment, cardio I actually enjoy.

I should have said on my previous review beware ladies some of the men playing will run full speed into you, seen it happen at East London rugby club many times. Too many Very spiteful, cheap shot people playing. Obviously the so called management cannot control the players as a lot of them have no respect 4 the rules of tag.

I love how welcoming and warm everybody is and the way everybody comes together in the spirit of the game. James Price has been my league organiser for a number of different leagues and to be honest his care and diligence has made it all the more enjoyable - he is always willing to give tips and training to help us players improve our game and it really enhances the overall experience especially when there are not many opportunities to receive training. Its been amazing

My experience at both Try Tag Rugby Richmond and Chiswick (London) has been outstanding. In particular James Price has been so great with all communication and has made the league loads of fun. Would highly recommend Try Tag Rugby to anyone at any skill level thinking of playing tag rugby.

I have met fantastic friends through TTR and would recommend it to anyone who wants to join a sport by themself or with a friend! I have to give it to Mikayla for being the BEST organiser for being so welcoming and encouraging me to join a new team this year! Wouldn’t have joined without her enthusiasm and positivity!

Love playing tag ! It’s a great way to meet friends but also keep fit !
Everyone is always so welcoming and the tag tournaments are always so competitive but also so much fun!
Special shout out to Mikayla for always bringing the vibes and getting everyone involved! All the sites she coordinates since she’s started have become so much more fun and very well organised !

I have been playing tag rugby for just over a year now through Try Tag Rugby, and I’ve really enjoyed the experience. They are well-organized, and the joining process is both fun and easy. As someone who had never played rugby before, I felt truly welcome. Mikayla plays a key role in creating the warm, inviting atmosphere for our team. She always responds quickly to any questions my team and I have, and she makes sure that we are all having the best experience possible!! I would recommend anyone to join Try Tag Rugby!

I’ve been a part of a number of Try Tag Rugby leagues for just over a year now and it has been hands down the best decision I’ve made since moving to London. There’s no easier way to meet great people, get in shape and fill your evenings/weekends with a fun activity. The staff are great, with reps like Mikayla at the Sunday Clapham Junction league, who run the leagues flawlessly and are some of the nicest people you’ll meet. Give it a go.

Play now and again Sunday Falcon park and Eagle pond Clapham in Summer. Mikayla always makes it an enjoyable time now matter the score line.

I play in the Clapham league and it’s the best sport I’ve taken up. Since moving to London I was looking for something social and fun and it’s exactly that! I’ve made some of my closest friends and Mik who runs it not only the best organiser but also just the best person! Everyone is so lovely and Mik and the refs just make you feel so welcomed especially whilst your getting into it at the start!

We, being completely new to the sport, enjoyed the sessions with James Price from the taster session to the end of the early summer season 2024! It was a pleasure participating, while grabbing worthy knowledge through him! Thanks so much!
