Absolutely dreadful - avoid!

Hello NovaHair Customer Care/Compliance Team,

I’m contacting you about your “NovaHair Instant Dye Shampoo / 3-in-1 Natural Hair Dye” and the way it is advertised on your website.

Your site makes repeated claims such as “Powered by Nature’s Best,” “Natural Ingredients,” “All Natural,” and states the shampoo “avoids the drying and damaging effects of conventional hair dyes,” implying it is not a traditional dye product.

However, the ingredient label on the product I received indicates a two-agent oxidative dye system:

Agent No. 1 lists p-Phenylenediamine (PPD), resorcinol, and dye intermediates including meta-aminophenol and N,N-Bis(2-Hydroxyethyl)-p-phenylenediamine sulfate (trace).

Agent No. 2 lists hydrogen peroxide.

This combination (PPD-type dye intermediates + peroxide developer) is characteristic of conventional oxidative hair dye formulations, and these ingredients are widely associated with skin/scalp irritation and allergic reactions in some users—especially PPD, which is a well-known sensitizer.

Could you please clarify:

Whether this product is intended to function as an oxidative hair dye (colorant + peroxide developer), and if so, why it is marketed as “all natural” and as avoiding “conventional hair dyes.”

The concentrations (or permitted ranges) of the key dye actives and developer (PPD and related intermediates, resorcinol, hydrogen peroxide, ethanolamine).

What safety guidance you provide (patch testing instructions, allergy warnings, contraindications) and whether those warnings are presented prominently at point of sale online.

Whether you offer a truly PPD-free/peroxide-free alternative for customers seeking a more “natural” approach.

I’m raising this because the marketing claims appear inconsistent with the ingredient label and could mislead consumers—particularly those with sensitive skin or prior reactions to hair dye.

Right now, the product I have purchased does NOT match the marketing and promises on the website

purchased this product believing I was buying from a New Zealand website, as the domain is novahair.co.nz. It was not made clear at the time of purchase that the product was shipped from the USA or that returns would need to be sent overseas.
Unfortunately, the product caused an allergic reaction and itchiness, so I was unable to continue using it. When I contacted customer support, I was informed that I would need to pay for return shipping, despite the website stating that return shipping costs would be covered for damaged, incorrect, or dysfunctional items.
Overall, the product was unsuitable for me, and the return process was disappointing due to the lack of clear information. I hope the company improves transparency around shipping and returns for future customers.

What exceptional customer service.
I ordered wrong product and with seconds I emailed to let them know.
I was sent out the same product but different colour, free of charge I hasten to add.
Why can’t all customer services be like this ?

I have used many hair color products and I always scare of them leaving marks afterwards but Nova hair don't leave any marks . It is a great product easy to use and results are remarkable

It’s fake product I guess, as it stained everything but hair. Also i had my scalp burning so bad straight after i applied it on my hair, had to wash it. Can’t imagine what chemicals there. I paid for delivery from US and now I’ll pay for return.

Trynovahair.com is the actual, original nova hair dye seller. If you're an IT professional like me, you can see all the other copycat websites started up AFTER the trynovahair.com website.

I only used the dark brown dye shampoo, so I cannot comment on the other products. Looks completely natural, and doesn't dye your skin. It's hard to get the roots with just for men and other dyes. But Nova will get the leading edge of your scalp, without coloring your skin.

And other dyes damage my hair, leaving them difficult to manage and style. I used to dye my hair several days before an event, so I could style my hair several days later.

But with nova hair I can dye my hair same day, and my hair remains soft and manageable. The color looks natural, with highlights and hues, just like my natural color used to be. Other boxed dyes left my hair monochromatic, and unnatural looking.

I strongly recommend you only buy from trynovahair.com. Don't even consider the copycat products on Amazon, Walmart, or other sites.

initially it worked fine. and their customer service was great but after a few months, my hair turned brassy and red. I purchased a lot and asked to replaced to darker color and they said, it has been 2 months and won't honor my replacement. Lesson learned. I have been recommending their products to friends and family but they've lost a customer.

Is a scam dont buy from them almost a month and my order isn't arrived I been sending email back and forward and keep saying there are investigating and I ask for refund and I can't because the product is on the way sure after 24 days .. is a joke is a scam they names are prya and Nina if you recive any email from this names are scam

Doesn’t work, the product burned my scalp, and instead of give me dark brown colour, this garbage gave me a really bad ginger look. I literally looked like a Temu Ed Sheeran. I have posted a bad review in their Facebook ad and received a message from them, offering me a refund if I send the unused bottles back to them, on my expense, which… shipping UK to USA would make this refund void, as I’ll lose more money than I’ll receive from them. According to them it’s me having an allergy reaction that burned my scalp and gave me a clown hair colour, you know allergy can change your hair colour.

Moral of the story, don’t waste your money on these people, or even to push this further, don’t waste money on any company that’s not well known. Everyone wants to be entrepreneur today.

The original Nova Hair product works really well, colour was great and lasted 4 weeks. Then I went to order again making the mistake ordering from a nova copy cat site. It’s so hard to tell what’s legitimate vs fake. The fake one came out one colour through the pump, and the original comes out with cream and gel. I guess you can’t know until you buy.

This product is a fake. Return policy is horrible. It was only until I threatened them that I was going to have my credit card company investigate and remove the charges that they finally sent and email stating they would refund the charges.

All of that said, the product absolutely did not work. Zero, nada.

Do NOT buy this unless you plan to jump through hoops if it doesn't workout for you and you want a refund. My items arrived 20+ days later and didn't work for me. PRODUCT DIDN'T WORK. I emailed support and after several back and forth emails, they finally agreed to let me return it but at MY own expense. Read the terms. It says they'll let you know IF they accept your return. Unfortunately I didn't read until after. BUYER BEWARE.

I purchased the Red as I have dark ginger hair. It turned my hair candyfloss pink!

This Nova hair doesnt work and just leaves you with a burning skull

Nova Hair shampoo worked amazingly well on my grey hair. I used the black coloured shampoo. I was sceptical due to many bad reviews. I purchased off their official site. The only comment I have is that it does stain so use gloves, the ear caps provide and petroleum jelly along the hairline to prevent staining. Overall I'm really happy with this product and will be recommending it to family and friends.

Zero stars this is a scam website. I have spoken to novahair and they havent confirmed they are not affiliated with them. The bottle is different so i checked the ingredients and they do not match those on the actual nova hair website. The product was sent from Cannock. I emailed and said i want a refund and they asked i send it to Florida, otherwise i dont get a refund. No denial of this being a scam and jist kept saying a refund willbe sent once they receive the item in Florida. Company is Yunexpress 153 Blakeney way cannock registered on companies house. If i lived near by and i went to the address i am sure they dont bloosy live there either. I will report to my crdit card company as i will never be getting a refund. I will purchase via novehair.com only in future

The product doesn't work. I tried it multiple times for as long as 20 minutes and it literally did absolutely nothing except make my scalp burn. And I have to pay return shipping if I want to get a refund.
