Catastrophic engine failure on MAN TGE…

Catastrophic engine failure on MAN TGE 3.180 – no support from manufacturer

My MAN TGE 3.180 (2.0 Bi-Turbo, engine code DAVA, 130 kW, model year 2020) suffered a catastrophic crankshaft failure.

The failure occurred suddenly during normal highway driving at approximately 96 km/h. There were: no knocking sounds, no warning lights and no abnormal engine behavior prior to failure

The vehicle was properly maintained, and critical components such as injectors had already been replaced recently.

A crankshaft is not considered a wear item and should last the entire service life of the engine. Sudden crankshaft fracture strongly suggests either a material defect, lubrication system weakness, or engineering flaw.

Despite this, MAN refused to accept any responsibility or offer goodwill support, attributing the failure to general wear.

This raises serious concerns about both the durability of the engine and the manufacturer’s willingness to stand behind their product.

The financial damage from this failure is substantial, and the lack of support from MAN has been extremely disappointing.

Based on this experience, I cannot recommend MAN light commercial vehicles to business owners or fleet operators who depend on reliability and manufacturer support.

You have such low productivity because your Area Managers move at a snails pace

For a company that is desperately recruiting for staff, especially Techs, how slow they are with the uptake of high end Technical people, it is baffling.

THE reason you have so many productivity issues in the UK, is because you are slow with the uptake of people into your businesses. It shows inefficiency and the people in charge perhaps should not be in charge of these important areas of your company, e.g. recruiting.

In order to raise your PRODUCTIVITY Man Truck and Bus, you first must employ the right Managers who understand how to get recruitment moving and not sit desperately trying to back track because you have few staff manning your garages.

PRODUCTIVITY = You have to pull your finger out of you know what and get on with your jobs.

As an HGV Technician, waited 2 weeks after sending my C.V. and still waiting. That is 26 years expertise at the same company, yet they are dragging their heels.

YOUR recruitment should be going directly to your Service Managers who are the ones who need the people, not some Area Manager that is under pressure and probably should not be in the position.

PRODUCTIVITY in the UK is poor, because of poor decision making from the very top about how to move forward. It is the British way though and why the UK is in deep decline.

THE wrong people in charge = low productivity and lack of drive.

COMMUNICATION skills, need to be lifted at Man Truck and Bus and dont tread on your Technicians and staff.
