I chose Trethowans for the proposed sale of my house as a large company and knowing my sale would be a complex one I hoped that if and when I telephoned I would be able to speak to someone to resolve any problem fairly quickly. I was disappointed that this was not for the most part the case. I had to be contact Land Registry repeatedly in order to attempt to speed things up and had to drive to the Council offices twice to obtain copies of documents dating back to 1985 again to speed everything up, totalling 180 miles. Being newly widowed this was the last thing I needed. I felt I did not get the support from Trethowans at that difficult time. At the 6 month point my house sale fell through and the house I wanted to purchase was subsequently purchased by my daughter on my behalf and she also was disappointed with Trethowans.

Not the cheapest, but great value which is the important thing that many do not consider!

I found myself in a situation where I needed the advice of a lawyer practicing family law. I was recommended the services of a specific lawyer at this practice, I got good advice and it ended in my favour. I was very worried during the whole thing, but kept in mind that my lawyer had told me, on our first meeting, that a precedent in a case very similar to mine, had already been set and in that case, they had come from a less strong position than I.
I was treated with understanding and kindness. I even asked if there was any possibility of the case being closed before 31st July, as I was due to have an operation on that day. I got the good news on 29th July, that indeed, it was finally all over and even before the deadline we had hoped to achieve.

Perfection is hard to achieve. I gave you four stars as I’m sorry to say that at no time did I feel that I was a “valued” client. I have documents which prove that my family have dealt with Trethowans for more than 120 years and myself personally for more than 50 but that fact was not obviously manifest. In my book attention to detail and customer satisfaction are paramount.

We have used Kelvin at Trethowens for a business matter and kept Kelvin on retention till the legal timeframe was up 2023-2025- worth every penny, no waiting around, fast and effective with no hassle. Clear precise and to the point using terms we understood clearly.
