Avoid! and ignore the never ending advertised online discounts to buy you

The training is utterly rushed (your paid time is split/shared and so you'll end up paired with random newbies, some may already have extensive large vehicle driving experiences elsewhere) and so you'll be offered the same amount of practice sessions, regardless of how new or comfortable you are.

The culture is also VERY problematic. Excessive Gossiping and unprofessional locker room (school type) comments is widespread. In short, trainers would be heard *itching about everything under the sun, including criticising newbies who've turned up to be taught how to drive, only for some to be half way into their first training day, and yet half of the trainees have already got many complaints about the mentors not being professional.

Despite the sham that newbies are not supported - the *itching would spread to the extent that our trainers would end up gossiping about the newbies in the other cohort of training (not knowing us newbies have already vented amongst ourselves of the various bad culture and poor teaching standard LOL)

It was also disgraceful that the locker room chat, would also include sexual innuendos towards female staff secretaries (in the presence of us newbies) and while these individuals might have grown accustomed to accepting such "chat" from older male senior trainers, it's still not professional and at minimum should be kept amongst themselves (not in the company of newbies whom have come to learn to drive)

Lastly and in regards to great caution for BAME (Black and other minority ethnic group) applicants etc. - be prepared to hear all sorts, including so-called 'jokes' about newbies names [i.e. one Jewish fella was criticised and ridiculed multiple times by staff for having a long spelt name], stories about out of work trainer antics, past trainer to BAME newbie incidents [see my other upcoming example below] as well as questionable culturally related sensitive chat/banter/gossip.
-For example, a Caucasian trainer I had, was about to teach me (none Caucasian) and another Caucasian newbie about the HGV checking procedure - but before teaching us, he told us (looking at me) that he hopes I'm not offended by the mnemonic the company uses to help newbies learn (get ready for it) - he (the trainer added), he'd recently had a trainee whom was allegedly from Zimbabwe whom he (the trainer) perceived felt some type of way about the said study mnemonic, and so felt telling me this would somehow soften a potential blow.... so the said mnemonic, used is BLACKS - (standing for Brakes, Legs, Airline lines, Clip, and Kingpin etc.) - so why the trainer needed to make this racial was NOT NECESSARY. I fortunately told my trainer, that it was unnecessary later on, on the day too - but the point remains as an example, because there was other 'talk' and about other groups, not to mention the newbie Jewish fella referred earlier above.

Ultimately - and inconclusion find a professional provider and even if it cost more, pay more (if needed) for a professional service, not any cheap providers that provide lip service when it comes to equality and professionalism
Also, and if you’re brand new to HGV driving – having one to one training is ideal, not paired (group) training which is offered here, as you may need additional practice time, to focus more, especially without all the aforementioned distractions.

Good luck newbies.

FIRST CLASS !!!

I was looking to do my class 1 training and come across TFG , from start to finish the process was simple they took care of all the forms and booked my medical and theory tests with ease the office staff are a credit. I started my training with my instructor Keith who showed me everything and made the who experience simple and not overwhelming. I had never driven a HGV before so was a big jump from a car , with Keith’s help and experience I passed all of my practical tests first time and gained my license so thank you Keith and all of TFG for all your help and knowledge to get me through. Even the MD was there to help if needed and showed a friendly presence.I recommend anyone who is serious about getting there HGV license to call TFG as you will not regret it.

Worth The 2 Hour Commute

Would Like To Thank TrainFor In Assisting Me With Obtainment Of My C+E. All Members Of Staff I Encountered Were Friendly, Helpful, Full Of Knowledge And Banter (Had So Much Fun). During My 4 Days Training (Which I Thought Might Not Be Enough), My Instructor Wayne (Who Is Properly The Best Instructor Going) Managed To Help Me Combat My Nerves And Prepare Me For Not Only My Test; But For The Real World. Additionally, Keith (Who Helped Me With Reversing) Was Absolutely Amazing At What He Does. Passed All Tests First Time (Reversing & Coupling, Practical Driving & CPC Module 4). I Most Certainly Recommend This Company For Anybody Whom Wishes To Acquire Any Form Of Training.

Also, I Was Having A Few Issues With My Car And EVERY Member Of The TrainFor Team Went Above And Beyond To Resolve The Issue. From Meeting Me At The Petrol Station To Jump Start My Car, To Installing A New Battery, To Picking Me Up And Dropping Me Off At Local Stations So I Could Get The Train Home (Pimlico) When I Was Unable To Drive. They Was NOT Simply Here To Collect Money And Train, But To Provide Assistance Where They Could.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR EVERYTHING !!!

I was very apprehensive and nervous…

I was very apprehensive and nervous about taking my D license, My instructor, Martin was the coolest, calmest, straightforward, clearest, Honest, professional I could have wished for. I took my test and confidently passed.
All the other instructors are always encouraging and take a moment to stop to ask how I'm getting on, Its not just me, they do it to all the pupils, wether your going for a C+E, D or C1 they all to a man encourage you, I found all the office staff friendly, approachable, sorted out the few mishaps professionally and always kept me informed of what was going on. They dont baby us, we are grown up, drive cars and as such they respect and treat us in the correct manner.

Avoid if u can

I booked the class 2 course for my son with them. they offered me 3 days from 8am to 4pm with tests on Wednesday. in the booking process everyone was available and kind. first day ok, second day my son comes home at 1.30pm. I try to talk to someone but everyone is busy, so I thought if they finish soon they believe that the boy is ready and everything is fine. on Wednesday he was sent home at 12 and the test moved to next Monday. I try calling, emailing, texting but can't talk to anyone. we all know that a new driver going straight to the test after 5 days without driving is 90% fail. in fact it failed, always impossible to talk to someone to get advice on what to do I felt treated like I had the plague. anyway we book another test and the result is the same. We wait in the office to talk to an instructor and after a while he suggests another day of practice plus tests. we ask when a free slot is available and they say the girls are busy, one is eating, another is I don't know where and we will be emailed with the quote. they quoted me for half day training plus test for £690... we can all make mistakes but the difference between professional people and incompetent people is the way they make up for mistakes. what would I expect? at least a small warm up before the retest moved for no reason. however there are many serious companies in North Kent, better to spend a little more than deal with people like that. I only regret my 2k given to them. My son passed the test with another company easily

We own a motorhome

We own a motorhome, my husband always drives because I’m nervous of the size of. My instructor got me out on the road in an ambulance within 10 minutes. I spent the next 3 hours trundling around East Kent. The tuition was kind, expert with safety upmost. We finished off with parking practice. I now feel equipped to drive our bus and I am very grateful. Marvellous highly recommended *****
