Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 30 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers reported significant quality issues with the products, including paint peeling, rust, and grills failing to maintain consistent temperatures. Reviewers frequently found that the products did not work as expected, with some needing constant repairs or replacements for parts like hot rods and temperature sensors. The warranty process was also a major point of dissatisfaction, as many felt the company did not honor its warranty or made it difficult to get issues resolved. Customer service received mixed feedback; some found it to be a nightmare, citing long hold times, unhelpful representatives, and a lack of product knowledge. Conversely, a few other people also felt that customer support was helpful, efficient, and even went out of their way to resolve problems.

Home Depot

I bought a Traeger grill and from the beginning it would not reach an accurate temperature nor a high enough temperature to sear meat. . It took me 18 months, numerous phone calls and hours of my time to figure out the problem. Every time they blamed my usage of the grill, not their product for the problem. Ultimately it was their defective part. When I asked for some compensation to replace 18 months of lost usage they said there was nothing they could do until finally offering to send me some dry rub and a sticker pack. Embarrassing after all of the mistakes their employees made along the way. I would highly recommend buying another product.

Does not hold temperature at all ,

Does not hold temperature at all ,, varies 80° does not smoke like a smoker should,, hence the word smoker. It is cheaply made and suppose to be top of the line. Very disappointed and no help from customer satisfaction because over 45 days. Bought last fall. Buy and research others,, this is nowhere worth the cost

Expensive products, cheap parts

Everything down to the fasteners are cheap and inconsistent. The lid doesn't close properly. It has electronics that perform on the same level. This is a rotted out company that seems to be shaving every bit of value off of their own product.

This is a POS, made overseas by slave labor, and marked up to the highest possible point.

Traeger sucks.

We bought a “Texas Grill” at Costco in 2018. We thought that being a Traeger, all would be good. It never heated well from the start, and we thought it was normal. Could never get to 300 degrees. Finally called support, which was decent. They sent a new controller, which helped, but did not cure the problem. It still will not cook. We can get to 325, maybe, on a warm day, with no wind. But as soon as we open it, the temp begins to go down, and continues its downward spiral, usually hanging out just around 300 degrees. A very disappointing item. Would not recommend a Traeger to anyone. I tried to “register” the thing on the Traeger site, hoping that maybe we could start a conversation with the company. Our model number is one that does not exist in their selection process, one letter off. And what is a “Province Code?” Cannot continue without that. We just want to drive over this useless thing with a tractor. We went and bought a gas grill so we could actually cook food outside. Never trust a Traeger.

Traeger s are without a doubt the worst…

Traeger s are without a doubt the worst pos I’ve ever seen can’t rely on it to even start properly ! I resorted to cleaning it after every cook but still no difference!! I can’t express how disappointed I am in this product !!!! I’ve spent close to three thousand dollars on it only to have it not work from day one ! After waiting months to get it fixed it worked for a grand total of six months and then just had a mind of its own ! I know of two dealers in my area who have walked away from this product and to be honest I don’t blame them ! It is such a pile of garbage and they themselves can’t get any tech support. I will forever warn anyone of this garbage ! I’m so severely pissed off ! Traeger should be ashamed of themselves! You have all these shills working for them !! Traeger day my ass !! Fact you !! And your crap

My Treager blew up in my face

I bought my Traeger before they outsourced to China. I loved it. I have had it for 6 years. But today it blew up in my face. My hair is burned and my right arm has a first degree burn from my wrist to my elbow. I started it as usual with the lid open. Once it started smoking I closed it and set the temperature. I went out to put the ribs on-smoke was billowing out. I opened it and it exploded in my face. My hair is destroyed and my arm has a bad burn. How can this explode like that when it is a wood pellet smoker? Don't tell me it wasn't clean. I had just cleaned it. I am so upset both from the standpoint of getting hurt but also because it did love the way it cooked. Just can't trust it now.

Don't buy Traeger Ironwood 650

My Traeger Ironwood 650 stopped working during the cook!!. I tried to turn it on several times, it ignites but after reaching the desired temprature it suddenly entered shutdown mode.
Unfortunetly, afer 2 times and 1 week after purchasing it (Israel Netanya branch), the device stopped working during the cook. This is very frustrating and dissappinting especially when you expect to host your family shortly. The support team said that the power switch needs to be replaced. I can't accept that such an expensive device has a critical issue after 1 week. Meaning that the quality is poor. I wouldn't recommed to buy it.

Do not buy.

Do not buy.
Purchased a new pro780 back in April of 2021, it was delivered in June 2021. In September 2021 while hosting, the grill died half way into cooking. A call to support was placed and a technician was sent out to my home about a week or so later. The technician confirmed the auger has snapped but in a way he had never seen in all his years with working with the company. He told me a complete hopper burner assembly would be mailed to me. About 7 weeks later the new assembly arrived. I called the technician back to be told he lives 3 hours away and i could install this myself because its essentially 4 bolts. I followed the install instructions provided (that were just a little more then what the technician described), Loaded in some fresh Traeger pellets, turned it on and got a fan disconnected error. Called into tech support again and was told to follow the instructions on YouTube to resolve the matter. I did this several time over the year to have 0 success. Now after spending 3 hours on the phone with support I’ve been told they are sending a new controller, the hopper burner assembly they gave me included an installed BRAND NEW fan and controller that didn’t work out of the box. So after 2 years of owner ship i had 3 months of a working grill and the remaining 21 months with a broken one, they are refusing to send a whole new grill or consider refunding me. Looking forward to 6 weeks from now when another probably defective unit comes my way all for me to have to take the time to install because lets face it, they dont care, they already got their money, now its just a matter of them not taking any responsibility and sending poor quality parts my way for me to install. Save yourself the money, this brand doesn’t stand behind their products and the customer service is horrible because even when you speak to someone their is an entire other team that you have zero interaction with that’s pulls the strings.

Total Dissatisfaction with Traeger…

Total Dissatisfaction with Traeger Customer Service

Dear Traeger Customer Service Team,

I am writing to express my utter disappointment and dissatisfaction with the customer service I have received from your company. I purchased a brand new Traeger Timberline XL in 2022 and reported a problem with the ignitor soon after. Since then, I have had numerous calls and email exchanges with your customer service team, and despite repeated promises of a resolution, my issue remains unresolved.

After multiple missed appointments, a service technician finally arrived at my house today, March 9, 2023, but unfortunately, they did not have any replacement parts with them. This further delayed the repair process and left me frustrated and disappointed.

Traeger informed me today that they would send me a replacement part, but I must repair it myself. While I am capable of doing this, my question remains - why has it taken Traeger so long to send me the exact replacement part I requested back in December 2022? This is utterly unacceptable service for a grill that cost me $4,000

I am extremely disappointed by the lack of communication, delays in resolving the issue, and the poor customer service I have received throughout this process. As a customer who has invested in your product, I should receive timely and efficient support when I encounter any issues.

I urge Traeger to immediately resolve my issue and provide me with the necessary support to repair my grill. I hope to receive a response from you soon and look forward to a satisfactory resolution to this matter

Had trouble with my grille temperature…

Had trouble with my grille temperature fluctuating and called customer service. They were very helpful in walking me through the troubleshooting and sent me the new parts. There was no charge for the parts or shipping. The grille works good with replacement parts.

3rd part replacement on my Ironwood…

3rd part replacement on my Ironwood grill that is only 3+ years old; customer support does not care that 3 meals have been ruined due to inability to start combined with throwing away pellets each time I've had to empty the hopper. I would NEVER recommend this to anyone based on the high cost of this grill vs. all the issues I've experienced.

Treager Grills

I recently bought one of these pro series grills and I regret buying it. These things are really temperamental, and require a lot of little things to get them to cook, and that's not a guarantee you won't have to move to your gas grill half way through the cook. Read the manual, and reviews carefully. I constantly have to clean out all the parts as described in the manual before a cook. They are notorious for dropping heat, and not getting back up to heat mid cook. I only have luck at low temperature cooking. If you want to cook steaks or anything requiring higher heat short cook times, you probably will have to switch to gas grill to get done. I have to also note that long cooks at lower temps are a flip of the coin. When you call customer service good luck getting help soon. Then be prepared for a huge array of possibilities, and work on your part. Read the fixes and possible problems and fixed for this problem, it's designed to make them unable to be liable. In my opinion these feeder grills are so dependent on perfect conditions, and a whole array of precision of the operation, that your going to be very frustrated, and for the price I'd pass on these grills. I'm trying to give mine back, got to wait on manager to get back tomorrow for a decision, otherwise like so many others, I have a pile of junk!

These grills suck

These grills suck. It is a great idea but has fallen short of all expectations.

It only operates as an out side wood burning oven that requires 10$ in pellets everytime you turn it on. The range say 165-500. Not even close. It operates very well between 250-400 with lid shut. Not hot enough too grill, too hot to smoke.

The WiFi never stays connect and does not pair again without clearing the app completely, removing the grill, and reinstalling everything. In addition, sometimes it requires an alternate phone to long in for some unknown reason.

Total disappointment. I have owned the POS for two years and I'm finally giving up with it.

I never write reviews unless it is exceptional or a disappointment. Unfortunately these grills suck.

This is the worst company I've ever…

This is the worst company I've ever dealt with. First the grill qualified for free shipping and they charged me $49 for shipping. I contacted them numerous times of a 2 day period and got no where. Finally on the 4th day somebody (mgr) called me and said she fixed the problem and my account would receive a credit. 2 weeks now and no credit. Yesterday my credit card was charged for the grill & shipping. No emails on the order status. I contacted Traeger again to find out the status. A two question chat took over a half an hour to find out the chat person was dealing with multiple chats. Grrrrr. My recommendation is deal with a second party like Amazon or the BBQguys and stay away from Traeger.com

Do NOT buy the Timberline XL.

Do NOT buy the Timberline XL.
I bought this grill for my husband's 60th birthday as an upgrade for our 885. After approx. 3 hrs on the phone with customer service we couldn't get the grill to stay online or pair any of the accessories. The grill shows the wifi strength as good but evidently the accessories and grill interfere with each. The only way to get the grill to stay online for more than 5 seconds is to unplug the side burner. After 3 hrs tech support had no idea how to fix the issue. I requested a technician be sent out and was told there was no technician in our area. I was told my only option was to call back in 72 hrs and see if they had figured anything. $4500 down the drain.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Very happy customer

Just got off the phone with customer service. Tammy stayed on the phone and walked me through trouble shooting the grill for 1hr 8min to find the problem. She was awesome and is sending a new auger motor out under warranty. Honestly some of the best customer service I've ever experienced.
