Very disappointing and unjustified high charge.
I brought my car to this garage in Höfn on Saturday afternoon because a loose plastic underbody panel needed to be secured. I drove the car to the garage myself. There was no call-out: the mechanic was already at the garage when I arrived and carried out the repair there. The repair took about 40 minutes and was done correctly.
I was charged 69,400 ISK (= $550 USD or € 500 EURO!), 14.400 for labour and an extra 55,000 ISK for a “Call out fee”.
When I questioned this charge, the company explained in writing that the “call out fee” actually means a “weekend fee / emergency fee”, even when the customer drives to the garage and the mechanic is already there.
I was not informed beforehand about a weekend/emergency surcharge and I never agreed to it. At the time, the garage was also shown as normally open on the internet. Their site does not mention any extra charges during weekend. An 500 Euro fee for 40 minutes work is a total ripp-off!
I complained about the charge tot he garage. I find it very disappointing that they charge such a fee without informing the customer beforehand, and then refuse to refund it when the charge is challenged.
I would strongly recommend not to go there.
