Report received almost immediately on payment, very clear and also emailed. I would thoroughly recommend this company for car checks

The wording is hard to make out so I wouldn’t recommend and it very confusing! Logbook says 2 owners and it’s got 4 on this pdf given

I strongly urge anyone considering Total Car Check to think twice before giving them a penny.
I used their service to check a van in July 2023, months after the vehicle had been written off in a Category S accident (February 2023). Their report came back completely clean – no write-off, no issues. Based on this so-called “comprehensive” check, I went ahead and purchased the vehicle. Later, I discovered that it was in fact written off, with the claim eventually appearing on MIAFTR in August 2023 – a full five months after the actual accident, and after I’d already bought the vehicle relying on their report.
Their response? A shrug and some nonsense about how it’s the seller’s fault for not disclosing it, and how they “can’t control how long insurance companies take.” That might be true – but what is under their control is how they represent their service. If your reports are not reliable and depend entirely on third parties uploading data on time, then that should be loud and clear before customers pay. Instead, they market their checks as robust and trustworthy, when clearly, they are anything but.
This is now the third time I’ve had issues with Total Car Check missing critical data. Every time, they fob me off with excuses, take no responsibility, and offer zero compensation. What exactly am I paying for? A screenshot of whatever might be available at the time?
The worst part? They hide behind disclaimers and "data guarantees" that mean absolutely nothing in practice. It's just smoke and mirrors. They take your money, and when their service fails, you’re left to deal with the consequences.
Total Car Check is not fit for purpose. If you want peace of mind before buying a car, go elsewhere. Don't be fooled by their slick interface and promises. You’re better off throwing your money out the window — at least then you won’t be misled.

There are so many HPI check sites out there but I have been using Total Car Check - Its one of the best! Its simple, If there are issues, warnings are clear. If the car has been write off you can get links to salvage sites to see the original damage photos.
Reports are available online, pdf and emails. Simply brillient!
Paid for a car check and it wrongly flagged FAIL & SIGNIFICANT ISSUES. which I gathered meant “outstanding finance” when none existed. Company later claimed finance must be cleared 15 days in advance – not stated anywhere. No phone support, only slow email replies. Ended up paying another company for a correct report. Unreliable and unhelpful – avoid.

The Gold HPI check was supposed to include a valuation for the vehicle but it didn't, dissapointed.

This program has been great for me and has revealed several hidden things to me.
Perfect solution for your HPI check before buying the car. Many others charging too much even some of them £ 2O for same check. more than Happy to use Total 👍
Totalcar Check: A Highly Recommended Service
A Total car check, whether you choose the silver or gold option, is definitely worth it. It provides all the crucial details about a vehicle, which is incredibly useful. For instance, the gold option can tell you how long a previous owner had the car. I've personally used this service many times and highly recommend it.
Quite simply, if you are buying a vehicle, this service is an absolute ' must have ! The very low cost of a detailed comprehensive report prevented me from spending a substantial £8000 on a vehicle that had a warning for an inaccurate recorded mileage. Vehicle mileage had been falsely reduced by 153, 000 miles !! Beware !
This company claims to value customer care ( see below about what they claim they will do) , but our experience has shown otherwise. Since early May, I and several family members have made repeated attempts to contact them across multiple platforms – including all listed email addresses, Facebook, Twitter/X, and even their blog. Despite this, we have received no response whatsoever.
We have raised serious concerns about incorrect information being listed on a car report, including providing official documentation from the police as evidence. Despite this, the false information remains publicly visible, impacting our ability to sell the vehicle and misleading potential buyers.
The lack of communication and refusal to address these documented errors is not just unprofessional – it raises serious concerns about the company’s accountability and practices. Continuing to ignore clear, verifiable evidence may leave us with no choice but to escalate this matter further through formal and legal channels.
At this stage, I would not recommend this service to anyone. Accuracy and responsiveness should be the minimum standard for a company dealing with vehicle history data – sadly, this company has failed on both counts
“Customer Support We will always do our best to reply to your enquiries within 24hrs. We promise. We are available throughout the week, Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm to help you out.If you have any questions regarding a specific vehicle check, it would help if you send us the vehicle registration and/or the report reference number. “
Wasn’t right report bad customer service

Totalcarcheck’s service is superb. My go-to for HPI checks and they have never failed me. 5* would recommend.
Top service. Been using for years, really informative 👍
Better than DVLA’s site
Glad I did a check on my proposed purchase. Turns out the car is a Cat S vehicle. Search revealed all the photos taken at the salvage/auction depot, and loads of other information. Money well spent.
Codes go inactive randomly or trying to use a code, get an error thrown for rate limiting.
Waste of money
Always use this before getting a car. Great to use and worth it!
I am very happy to getting a lot useful information
