AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Reposting as they removed my review for “advertising” for praising my new provider even though they’ve apparently (and thankfully) gone into administration.

When I moved into my new flat I set up a temporary account for my new flat as the previous tenants used them - 4 months on they kept sending me bills, and WILL NOT REPLY OR ANSWER THE PHONE. The only response I had from them claimed my new provider (who, by the way, are not only green but also have fantastic customer service and end up around 50% cheaper) are only charging me for gas, not electricity - I even cc’d them in and they confirmed this was absolutely not the case.

They literally would not pick up the phone or respond to emails, as soon as I get a reply I’m taking them to the Energy Ombudsman as I’m at my wit’s end - PLEASE DO NOT USE THEM!!! Worst service and will keep charging you if you switch over to a far better provider

TRUSTPILOT

It seems fairly clear that Trustpilot is under the impression that Tonik Energy is still operating as a company, unaware that they went into receivership approximately 4 years ago. So I suppose this review reflects more on Trustpilot with its 3/5 rating than it does on the now deceased Tonik with whom I was a customer but thankfully able to dump before being ripped off.

Absolutely horrendous company !!! Where do I start? Theives!!! They took extra from me EVERY month I live in a very small property and they told me I should be paying 175£ a month ... everytime you call to resolve this you get promised a call back the next day as the ‘team are not in’ do you get a phone call back? No... now I’ve received a letter from credit styles for almost 2000£! Where did that come from? When they are the ones who owe me. Rubbish!!!!!

Credit Style are an embarrassment, and Tonik was the worst

Just wanted to add to the comments that I also got a letter from Credit Style to collect a debt from Tonik that was supposedly settled by their billing team in September. I suppose they went into administration before ever actually dealing with their error, and now I am dealing with an aggressive debt collector.

I suppose my main point is about Credit Style, who should be embarrassed for working as administrators for Tonik. How do you collect debt for a company that was a mess and had so many billing errors? I asked the Credit Style rep to go back into the call logs and account records to find the query before they continue to pursue me. I wonder if they even have access to the Tonik records?

I received a letter from debt collector…

I received a letter from debt collector (Credit Style) asking to pay my last bill. I cancelled my DD for the last month of my contract June 2020 because I was in credit of £214.58 and was expecting that they will refund the rest as they are taking £90/month. I’ve complained that they are charging me too much but to no avail. After few months a(August 2020) they sent a letter demanding to pay a last bill of £460.79 which I don’t even know where it from.
They keep calling me to pay but I said I sent a letter to their office disputing the bill. My letter returned because their office doesn’t exist. Now I received a letter from Credit Style demanding to clear my account within 7days. It’s a nightmare. But we have to continue fighting.

Truly awful

Like everyone else it seems I'm overcharged and now they are in administration and we have no where to go?
I have disputed the charge with Credit style as I was mid dispute with Tonik and apparently they have passed it back to Tonik. Tbh I'm just expecting more debt letters from a bill I don't owe.
Can anyone help?

Dreadful experience of customer service from Tonik

I moved from British Gas in April 2020. They went into administration October 2020. I have had two debt letters from Credit Style Limited. Have been unable to contact them by phone. Have emailed. No bills received from them from start. I left BG in credit! Very upsetting when I’ve paid by DD for six months. Hope someone will be able to help me.

As i can see now from reviews i am not the only one with the same issues. Overcharged an astronomical amount. Not being able to contact anyone for help and now receiving letters to pay my debts.

Thought I'd actually found a energy…

Thought I'd actually found a energy company that were fair and easy to work with how deluded was I found out they went bust only because Scottish Power sent me a email that they were taking our account over, hot last bill from tonik saying I owed £1250 even though we had been paying our direct debit ever month there excuse THEY the company set the wrong payment but never told me until I questioned them about it but not their fault all mine now a Scottish Power worker told me not to pay,I spoke to my local MP and they told me to make a formal complaint against tonik which I did obviously they did nothing about it and sent the account to credit style debt agency which is wrong because tonik did not deal with my official complaint which by law they should do.
Disgusting company wish I never used them

Tonik were great. !

I have to say my experience of Tonik was that they were efficient and well priced and I had no problems with them whatsoever .

What was even more impressive was that they paid interest on my credit balance. That credit balance was then transferred to Sottish Power and I have not seen a penny since.

I would suggest that since Tonik went into liquidation all any accounts problems should be raised with the liquidator whose address is give on their final bill.

Tonik

Tonik!
Worst energy company ever! (Glad they’re not trading and ripping innocent people off!)
I called to change my direct debit date, all seemed well, never thought anything about it, on the date I changed the bill to come out, I had no money in my bank, instead of £79 coming out, £790 came out, I was upset and called them, as a single
Mum and a carer, I needed my money for food, bills and fuel to work, I was told it would be sorted that day after me going on, it didn’t, i was fobbed off. (Scammers I believe after looking into peoples experiences) I had to call the bank to recall it. My bank card got declined in a shop that day trying to buy food, I had to wait the next day, I moved my direct debit with them to my pay day and it took it all, including other bills, I was struggling as it was and couldn’t wait until pay day to get food and fuel. I thought it was amended on their system from that phone call for the next month to be £79 and guess what...? The exact thing happened again, I was so upset, angry and cross and wanted to speak to a manager and got hung up on. After that I cancelled the direct debit and didn’t pay my bill, tonik decided to call me a few months after demanding money, I explained the situation and said as long as you don’t put a zero on the end of it, I’ll pay, got hung up on again because I couldn’t pay there and then and asked if they call me back on the date I get paid, I was willing to pay amd never got that phone call back, it doesn’t add up, I think something dodgy was going on, and still do. Now have a debt letter from credit style, I googled on trust pilot and seems dodgy. All bad reviews. Not sure here. There was no compensation for the inconvenience I had to suffer, or compassion. So at this moment I’m at a stand still with this debt letter.

Tonik Energy directors should be prosecuted

This is the first time I am happy a company has gone bust as I believe Tonik Energy was running a fraud scheme.

I left Tonik last year and 3 months after leaving, they were still taking direct debit payments. I emailed asking why this was happening. What they did was to review my final bill then adjust the figures to eat up the monies they took. They only refunded about £15 of the £300+ they illegally took from my account then sent an email saying per the law, they have the right to do that (review figures up to a specified threshold) and that they would send the edited figures to my new supplier.

Needless to say, the final readings they gave my new supplier were far less than what they had stated on my final bill (at the time, my actual readings were not even up to those figures) yet they never refunded the difference.

They adjusted my final bill several times thinking I would not notice. I had downloaded copies of all the statements so I could tell when they were modified. Pure Scam.

I have not even mentioned the couple of times they changed my tariff without notice - though I was on a fixed rate tariff. Absolute Scam and happy they've gone under.

I'm so angry with this company and I…

I'm sooo angry with this company and I felt that it was just me having a problem. Despite always being in credit I have just been forced to pay a bill of £378 as there is no way to resolve or dispute the bill! I'm so worried this will affect my credit rating. No help from the 'help' line email, no phone number just threatening letters. Disgusting I have never has such a bad experience with a company!!!

Where is the minus 5 stars option? Tonik... they ignore customers for months, go bust, ignore customers some more then send demanding final bill letters with instructions that don't work and include no phone number to call to remedy the situation. Pathetic.🤬

They were with out a doubt the worst…

They were with out a doubt the worst company I’ve ever dealt with I left a month before they went bust just looked online and seen my final bill was £108 which is probably right and the only bill they ever got right too!! The staff were absolute bunch of clowns and clueless who you could hear them joking around in the background and they also didn’t have a direct billing department 🤣 glad they went bust 👌👍

Terrible customer service

Am really not surprised that this company went bust. We got an e-mail from them on 8 January 2021 confirming that our outstanding final balance would be collected within 14 days via our existing direct debit arrangement. Then got a threatening letter dated 18 January 2021 (address incomplete, took 9 days to arrive), telling us that our bill was overdue. Immediately made payment online using a debit card. Have today received another slightly more threatening letter (again, address incomplete and took 7 days to arrive) saying the balance is still outstanding. Our online account shows a zero balance. There's an e-mail address to contact them but they don't respond to messages. Shocking.

Tonik are just sending out random bills…

Tonik are just sending out random bills to ex customers. I have two friends that have had this problem and they argued the case. One received a refund of £216 instead of the £420 they were asking for. The other just cleared the account to zero. I have had a random bill for £412 . funny because when i checked my on line account 3 weeks ago the total was zero, now they have sent me a random bill 4 months after I paid them and they went bust.
Somebody needs to sort them out, maybe a group court action. Imagine the number of people that just pay up and don't question them.

Dispute with Tonik Energy.

I transferred from Tonik Energy a couple of days before they ceased trading. I received a final statement for £77 and then another bill for £169. I disputed these bills and have not paid either until I get an explanation. Scottish Gas has been extremely unhelpful. The waiting time for a call to be answered is ridiculous. After holding for an hour I was offered a callback, which I accepted. I was called back two hours later and again put on hold. After I held for twenty minutes the call was disconnected. I then went to the chat line and outlined my position. The person on the chat line said my complaint would be looked into and I would be contacted. So far I have heard nothing and I have received two letters telling me that “additional steps may be taken to recover the balance due”. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do to resolve this. Scottish Power is not helping at all. I might add that during my time with Tonik Energy I received bills that were incorrect and were sorted after I disputed them. My direct debit amount was also doubled at one point without warning.
