Useless app

Useless app, choose YouTube music if you need music. It's way better and easier to use.
I was trying to get a student membership but to much Trouble so I decided not to do it and just deleted the app, 4 weeks after I get a bill for 99kr. Bunch of thiefs.

Stay away

After a perfect start as subscriber at Tidal I have at increased frequency experienced constant buffering of audio and not solved permentantly by the the troubleshooting on website. Plus I should not have to constantly switch between audio qualities and similar just because of a faiulty service.

Have now decided to leave Tidal out of frustration of what I feel like a increased playback issues

Poor support for nice product

Excellent quaity streaming but poor tech support. I loved the app but it started crashing within seconds. I follow online reveiws from forums etc. without benefit. Started the tech support...did everything they wanted. Opened developer mode. No result. They just kept giving me things to do that never worked. I was working for tech support for free. They gave me one month of free Tidal (after one of not working) and basically told ...cancel if you wish. I cancelled. Avoid this unless you know how to do your own support as they clearly lack in this aresa...and don't care.

Needs to be IMPROVED

I love tidal for its high res files but the app itself needs very much to be improved

1. I am frequently frustrated with trying to play music that should be downloaded, but sometimes probably to poor service when I’m not home the songs won’t fully download and yet there is no way of me knowing that since there is no progress bar on the download such as Apple has. So after all this time acquiring music I have learned that I have to go back and redownload songs an my home network so that I will actually be able to play them offline which is beyond frustrating and I feel should be a simple and vita thing to have given how much I pay for my subscription.

2. Not one or twice but several times tidal does not show my full library of music when I open the app so I have to log out and log back on in order for it to refresh which the very first time this happened to me I was going crazy trying to figure out what happened and again for as much money as I pay for this service it should not be potentially losing almost half my library of music.

3. I believe this is only a problem for apple users but for us there is no MQA pass through setting which it’s one thing if no one had it at all for mobile phone users, but for android users to have it and not apple even though we are paying the same amount of cost is just ridiculous and really unacceptable. It’s been some time that I hear online they were going to fix this but it has yet to come.

4. Not being able to have my music library sorted by genre as Apple Music does just seems lazy, because regardless if it has to do with any message that tidal is trying to send this is something that affects the users of their platform the most and they should accommodate to us first.

5. Not being able to put my own local files on the platform was a huge negative for me and another example of Apple Music being more considerate of its users. I should not have to be going back and forth between 2 separate libraries of music.

6. Another major problem for me is paying for MQA tracks and then suddenly coming back to the platform to find them greyed out and no longer able to be used. I pay for highest subscription for MQA files and just to have them ripped away from me at any point in time is just absolutely not right!! At the very least if their deal or whatever it is to have that MQA file on their platform has expired they should not punish the users who have already downloaded that MQA file!! Just simply take it down and just no longer allow it to be downloaded by new users instead of taking something that vital away from us which is the whole reason I came to tidal I. The first place was for the MQA files.

I’ve been frustrated long enough that I wanted to write this in hopes that the right people will see it and be able to put in progress an update to fix all these issues because at this point it’s so much that I’m leaning towards going back to Apple Music. It would be sad for that to happen just because they can’t fix what seems to be simple issues!!

Con artists

They are notorious for double charging customers each month and resubscribing users even after they’ve canceled. I reasonably showed them this and they refuse to refund my account for their errors. Customer service is an absolute joke. The sound isn’t real hifi like Qobuz as you can compare the difference. Their songs also lag, buffer, and take longer to skip. Given their antics, go to a real music app for audiophiles like Qobuz.

Absolutely the worst customer support…

Absolutely the worst customer support ever.
I've purchased the TIDAL HIFI Plus plan to be able to enjoy Dolby ATMOS on PC.
Unfortunately tech support was easy enough to let me point out that ATMOS is not supported on PC, yet it is supported on PHONES!!.
So I've spent $20 dollars on a service and $3000 on equipment that I can't use on this service. They also don't have an Xbox App so I can't use my Xbox either.
I've requested a Refund but aparently this company has a 0 tolerance policy regarding refunds so that was denied too.
Tech support was kind enough to provide me with a link for the open beta program, but guess what... it's for IOS and Android devices. So I can guess that the Desktop App for Windows has 0 plans for development. For such a service that prides itself on the highest quality streaming service, this is a huge letdown.

Update: I've created a Paypal dispute and after Paypal reviewed my case, with the evidence I've showed them, they decided in my favor. TIDAL never replied to the Paypal dispute. That should tell you how wrong they are regarding their policies with their customers.

Free trials that aren't free!

I have been an on/off user of Tidal since 2018 and I have always subscribed to the highest quality plan, thus the most expensive.

Having not subscribed in over a year, I decided to sign in to my app where I was greeted by various plans, some of which were new to me. All of the plans offered a 30 day free trial and given I am a fan of high quality music, I was particularly interested in the new plan, which offered a quality of music not available when I was last subscribing.

I decide to try this plan on the 30 day free trial on the understanding payment would be taken after 30 days if the subscription was not cancelled. Imagine my shock when payment of £19.99 was taken immediately, meaning no free trial!

Having contacted customer service (I use the term loosely), I was informed free trials are for new customers only. Fair enough, but why show these free trials to existing members without a subscription, like myself, if they are not available to us!?

Whilst I have an account, I haven't subscribed or used the app in over a year, so I simply assumed the offer was available to me in order to try and tempt me back. Offers are generally only made available to those whom qualify, especially once signed in to an app.

I think this is a very dishonest practice of Tidal as they obviously know very well that returning customers will see these free trials and activate them, only to find they are charged immediately.

Very sneeky Tidal - you have lost a customer for good!

The Masters sounds are incredible

The Masters sounds are incredible - they really bring the music to life and there are many, many files. I've not had some of the issues some others have mentioned and i've now ditched my expensive cd player, it's that good. This is undoubtedly the highest quality streaming service with a huge range of music - a massive thumbs up from me.

download Tidal songs

If you want to download Tidal songs and save them as local MP3 music files, you can do this with the help of leading Tunelf Tidal Music Converter, which makes it relatively easy to download both Tidal HiFi & MQA streams to MP3, FLAC, ALAC or some other commonly used audio formats.

Music Content Playback issue

Following a "something went wrong during playback" error message on my Android TV, I've opened a ticket with Tidal (1882699). It's been over a month and I have no solution, no workaround and not even a reasonable explanation as to why Tidal suddenly stopped playing back music content on this device. I provided Tidal with a complete list of information responding to a troubleshooting questionnaire they sent me along with the output of all requested diagnostics. In response, all I get from Tidal Support is messages thanking me for my "continued patience" as they are troubleshooting the problem. These "prefabricated" messages indicate a serious internal communication issue between Front Line Support and Developers within Tidal and in the absence of any progress and/or escalation path for my ticket I guess the company is gradually moving into the business of loosing customers.
UPDATE (May 2, 2023): Still no update or solution to the problem from Tidal. Subscription cancelled.

Terrible App

App crashes on a daily basis. Apple and Spotify work with no problem. Meanwhile Tidal keeps crashing. I eventually I tried an older version of Tidal on another iPod and it works fine.

✅ High quality music 🚫 Terrible app

✅ High quality music - sounds amazing
✅ I love that the music credits are so prominent and detailed
✅ Love that they pay more to the musicians
🚫 The fails to play music when not connected to wifi. Even stuff that is meant to be downloaded already fails to load properly. Seriously annoying - the number of times I've been trying to run/exercise and nothing will play (despite being organised with a downloaded playlist) is the main reason I'm cancelling.
🚫 Search bar can never find anything I'm after. Has to be spelled exactly the same way. Also doesn't factor in my preferences or what's popular/trending like Spotify and Google do. Makes you doubt that it even exists.
🚫 I just hate the app. It's really messy and there's too much space given to things I'll never use.

Good quality audio, abysmal app & infrastructure

Audio quality is superb, everything else is really bad. Mobile app has not been working for 3-6 months now, playback gets paused after just a few seconds even after spending hours trying to resolve the issue, deleting app, cache, updating app, updating phone etc. Playback on workstation (PC) with Enterprise grade network and Fiber buffers at peak hours (around lunch and EoB), tidal support looks at EVERYTHING else than their own infrastructure and application. They don't even know what information they need to troubleshoot at times, just asking for "more details"
