Serious safety concerns and inadequate…
Serious safety concerns and inadequate oversight of local event organisers.
I would strongly urge anyone considering attending Thursday events, anywhere in the world, to consider how this company handles serious personal safety concerns.
I privately contacted the organiser of Thursday Geelong, Australia, to raise serious safety concerns regarding a potential attendee. I explicitly offered to provide supporting evidence via email.
Rather than requesting or reviewing that evidence, the organiser dismissed my concerns and forwarded my private communication directly to the very individual I was raising concerns about.
This was an extraordinarily dangerous breach of trust that placed my personal safety at serious risk.
I subsequently escalated the matter to Thursday head office, expecting the company to recognise the seriousness of what had occurred. Instead, my concerns were dismissed.
Thursday operates events internationally through local organisers. My experience raises extremely serious questions about how these individuals are vetted, trained and supervised, particularly when handling sensitive safety disclosures.
What safeguarding procedures are in place? Are organisers trained to handle confidential reports? What oversight exists to prevent organisers from exposing people who raise safety concerns to the very individuals they are concerned about?
I have seen no evidence of meaningful accountability or corrective action following my complaint.
A company organising in-person dating events has a responsibility to take personal safety seriously. Encouraging people to report concerns means very little if those disclosures can then be forwarded directly to the person concerned.
Prospective attendees worldwide deserve to know how Thursday handled my disclosure before deciding whether to trust this company with their personal safety.
