The Thompson Method is a gentle, evidence based method towards a gentle birth and pain-free breastfeeding experience. It was created by Dr Robyn Thompson, a midwife with over 50 years experience who was awarded a PhD for her research into why so many women were being discharged from hospital with painful nipple trauma and other breastfeeding complications such as engorgement & mastitis. The Thompson Method challenges the forceful breastfeeding techniques, linked with painful nipple trauma, that are commonly taught in most hospitals. It’s for ALL women who want to breastfeed, but particularly those giving birth in the hospital system because it offers a gentle alternative to help women AVOID the most common and painful breastfeeding complications. But it’s more than just the technique on how to get a good latch. It is that, but it’s so much more... Visit www.thethompsonmethod.com to find out more

I took the course because i was expertiing my first grandchild, i wanted my daughter to succeed. I had severe nipple trauma at the start of my own breastfeeding journey and did not want that for her.
I must say i cried a lot while i learned what small things could have been done different to prevent that trauma.
Happy to announce that my daughter did not experience any trauma, she and baby started with perfect golden hours.
Thankful for dr Robyn and her team.

Following the advice given from the digital recordings, I had no trouble breastfeeding. I was able to prevent mastitis using the methods given and even was able to pump while away without hurting my nipples.

I watched all the information The Thompson Method had and felt so prepared. I felt confident to trust myself and have successfully breastfed both my two children to the age of 18 months. With no pain and a trusted place to look for help. 100% recommend to watch the videos and follow this method, compared to what you may be advised in the hospital

I breastfed my first baby with significant nipple pain in the early months, enough to cause plenty of tears and questions about continuing on; we fortunately made it over a year even with the struggles, but only due to self-determination. I researched all of the US recommendations, attended multiple online classes, received support from multiple certified lactation consultants, and tried many different feeding positions. All of the consultants agreed that we were “doing everything right” and had “a great latch” but couldn’t offer pain relief aside from saying it would just “take time” until our baby was bigger to hopefully feel relief and have a more natural feeding experience. That struggle led me to the Thompson Method, which completely changed my experience with our second child! I was hesitant that any course would offer something different from all that I had researched and learned (US and international standards), but it was 100% worth a shot at succeeding with breastfeeding in those early days without so much torment. Dr. Robyn’s feeding techniques offered a truly “natural” feeling approach to nursing - no weird, elevated positions for baby or uncomfortable straining for me - and it absolutely worked for relieving nipple pain and finding comfortable feeding. We are still comfortably nursing at 13 months and may continue on for another year at this rate! Such a blessing! Add to that the massive amount of education the program offers about pregnancy, birth, and postpartum and the investment could not be beat! I will recommend this program to every mother I know and hope to see us all trusting our maternal instincts while peacefully breastfeeding the way we were designed.

I truly can't thank the Thompson Method enough for the profound impact it had on my breastfeeding journey—and a very special thank you goes to my incredible coach, Pam Armstrong.
With my first baby, I followed the standard hospital approach, and it was a heartbreaking struggle. I vividly remember nursing through tears, overwhelmed with pain, stress, and doubt. I questioned whether I could keep going at all.
Then, everything changed with the Thompson Method. This approach is so gentle, intuitive, and respectful of both mom and baby. It empowered me with knowledge and confidence instead of pressure and confusion. What truly made the difference, though, was working with Pam. She was an absolute gem—so warm, supportive, and full of wisdom. Her guidance felt incredibly personal—especially knowing she had breastfed three sets of twins herself! I trusted her completely, and her calm, caring presence made all the difference. The fact that I lived halfway around the world and all our sessions were over video calls didn’t matter at all—her support still felt close, genuine, and truly effective.
Now, two years later, I'm still nursing—pain-free, mastitis-free. I never thought I’d say this after my first experience, but I have no plans to wean anytime soon. Today, my daughter is thriving—off the growth charts and with incredible immunity. I have no doubt that our breastfeeding journey, supported by Pam and the Thompson Method, played a huge role in that.
To anyone struggling or even just unsure about breastfeeding—please know there’s another way. The Thompson Method changed everything for me, and I’ll be forever thankful to Pam and the entire team for giving me the tools, support, and compassion I so desperately needed.

The Thompson Method was a lifesaver. With my first I had a rescue session after some intense nipple pain/damage and switching to pumping & bottles for a few weeks — my session got me back to nursing with no pain and I nursed successfully until weaning. With my second, I had a fine tuning 1:1 session at 48 hrs old that changed everything and allowed me to nurse comfortably through nipple damage and heal without switching to pumping! I am so grateful for the Thompson method!

I have breastfed my two sons using Dr Robyn’s method. I would have had no idea how to breastfeed if I hadn’t come across her course. I felt empowered, informed and supported by the content and the community. I have recommended The Thompson Method to all my friends!

As a first time mom, it was a great comfort to inform myself on breastfeeding with the help of dr. Robyn’s expertise before having my son. I’m now past the one year mark of breastfeeding and still going strong.

I used the rescue support and it was a blessing for me and my little baby. After 5 weeks between expressing and toping up with formula we managed to finally latch and move into exclusively breastfeeding and we are now approaching month 5 of exclusively breastfeeding :) I cannot thank you enough for your support and the Thomson Method is really a blessing for us all.

Dr Robyn's videos and information shared in the group helped me a lot when I was looking for answers to my challenges.
I learnt so much from the experience of other members of the FB group as well. It is a supportive community and teaches you that most importantly you need to trust your instinct but your instinct is more powerful when you are well informed.

I found this program when I was searching for knowledge that would help me avoid the terrible nipple trauma I had with my older child. Thanks to Dr Thompson, I knew what to do right after birth and my 3rd breastfeeding journey was smooth. I managed to heal the sore nipples quickly , avoided reflux and regulated my milk flow. The knowledge and support provided by the team are priceless !
the only thing I regret is not having discovered it for my previous children.

I watched and listened to all the videos of Dr Robyn and felt very empowered going into my first birth and I felt confident starting my breastfeeding journey. The support in the Facebook groups were great and just what I needed in the early hours of the night when the worry can kick in. I breastfed my first girl till 22 months when she self weaned. I am now breastfeeding my second child and the absolute ease.
When friends tell me they are pregnant I always suggest they buy this course. Breastfeeding is not as easy as it seems but with the help of Dr. Robyn it an be a wonderful journey.
I am really grateful!

I've truly enjoyed listening to dr. Robyn and tried to soak up the details to be able to breastfeed pain free and with overall success. I've discovered this method a bit late with my first child, and the support in the FB group was tremendous. Now with my second child, everything goes smoothly, but I have taken hours to go through the material about child birth and breastfeeding. It has been so helpful, so I hope more women would come accross this method and I am certain it will be helpful for them as it was for me. Thank you dr. Robyn and the team 💜

The resources available via the Thompson Method were invaluable to me with my baby. If it wasn't for this approach I would probably have given up but one 11 months on and we're still going strong.
Sometimes the course is hard to navigate but the information is all there if you look for it.
The community Facebook group has also been a lifesaver knowing that there were people struggling with the same thing and being supported by the team and each other.

Honestly, I don’t know what I would have done with out this program while breastfeeding.
I still remember all those nights, watching those videos and I would ALWAYS find a solution from them. I always wanted to breastfeed and I’m so glad that it’s been 9 months and we are still going strong ❤️

After a terrible, painful and short bf experience I was determined to have a better experience 2nd time round! While pregnant I found the Thompson Method and actually studied Thompson Method educator training while my son was a new born! Learning and putting it all into action! We are 17 months exclusively Breastfeeding. A complete turn around to my first experience. Baby and mum very happy and will continue to breastfeed as long as we do! If you pregnant or currently Breastfeeding do yourself and your baby a favour. Get support. The earlier the better! Education is key! The 1st 6 weeks is about learning and being supported not struggling and definitely wish I found the wonderful village of support with my first baby!

The Thompson Method has been the best breastfeeding program for us. Not only did it talk about how to breastfeed but many other areas in pregnancy and birth to prepare me for it. The support is amazing. My daughter and I had difficulty at the beginning due to a slight complication during birth which made the initial latching quite difficult, but I trusted that this method will work and followed the advise, and yes we made it successfully very quickly and we are still breastfeeding at 18MO.

It is amazing what a bit of guidance can do, and The Thompson Method gives you just that, it has helped me to approach my motherhood experience with a little more confidence. My baby is almost 8 months old and I am still breastfeeding, with no issues from day 1. Thank you! Xx

This program helped me be prepared for what I hoped to be an easy/natural birth yet had the potential to be dramatic. I was able to have the delivery I wanted because of the information and confidence Robin gave. She definitely deserves the high regard and honor her daughter gives her. I found her during covid times and after my mom had just died. It was exactly what I needed to persist and persevere for 6months to get my preemie baby to breast feed.
I have told all my friends or acquaintances about her program. I highly recommend it for Moms who want to he educated and be the defender of their unborn child.
