No after sales service, Dreadful communication

I was delighted with my outdoor table initially however when the paint/varnish started peeling off after only 14 months I contacted the company, initially by email, with photos, which was totally ignored.
I repeatedly called which just went to answer machine, I kept leaving messages and sending emails asking for a callback which they refused to do.
They totally ignored the situation except for the email response asking if my table had been covered during the winter. (Which it had under a tarpaulin) and saying I needed to email them not phone.
I just wanted to talk to someone to find a solution and not send emails that get ignored for months. But clearly this old fashioned method of communication doesn’t work for this company.
I eventually gave up and sanded the table myself.
Beware, the table is lovely but I had no after sales service and their communication is dreadful!

We always ask that any aftercare or maintenance queries are sent via email to office@thetableguy.co.uk so they can be properly logged and reviewed by the team. If you were asked to email rather than call, this is simply so we can receive photos of the issue and pass these directly to our workshop team for assessment. As they are based in the workshop, they aren’t accessible over the phone throughout the day, so this allows us to get accurate input from them and come back to you with the best possible solution — it’s the most efficient way for us to resolve things properly.

I’ve checked on our side and unfortunately we can’t see a full correspondence trail relating to this, but if there is still an issue, please do feel free to email us again with photos and we’ll be more than happy to assist.

We also have a dedicated aftercare page on our website which outlines everything needed to maintain your table, and this is shared during the ordering process. As the tables are designed for outdoor use, we do recommend a light re-sanding and re-treatment approximately once a year after the first 12 months, depending on exposure and usage. In most cases, this is a relatively straightforward process and typically takes no more than around an hour, depending on the table setup.

We’re really glad to hear you were pleased with the table initially, and we’re sorry again that your experience with communication didn’t meet expectations.

The quality & look or our table which…

The quality & look or our table which we had a real wood thick top with light painted legs is superb quality & workmanship. We an issue with the benches tipping when two people are seated & one stands up, we contacted Maya who is lovely & she arranged for new frames to be made & a very nice man turned up to change the sub frame, the issue was caused by too much overhang as the legs weren’t positioned in the corners, all resolved now, a lovely family run customer friendly business x

Excellent

The table and benches we ordered were delivered this week and we are so pleased with them. The whole process has been excellent not only due to the quality of the product but the quality of the people working at the The Table Guy, Maja (sales) Magdalena (pre delivery) and Mickey and Mark who built the table and put it together for us on delivery. Table and chair fiasco

We ordered a table and chairs from them in July. Communication was good at the start and they even sent a photo during the build, which was reassuring. After that, everything went quiet.

We live in Northern Ireland, so we knew delivery would be a bit more complicated. However, getting any response became extremely difficult. The only way to get a reply seemed to be sending 2–3 emails, leaving voicemails, and even commenting on Facebook posts (which were then deleted).

The table finally arrived on 12th October, and at that point we were told there were supply issues with the chairs. This was very disappointing, as when we placed the order, The Table Guy assured us they had stock and that their chairs were better quality than alternatives like Sklum (which were half the price).

Communication is not proactive at all — you have to constantly chase for updates. Eventually, on 5th December, they confirmed the chair order couldn’t be fulfilled. We asked for a refund on 6th December (as their alternative didn’t suit us), but again had to chase repeatedly. We didn’t receive the refund until 14th January — six weeks later.

We were originally told delivery to NI would be £250 for both the table and chairs. When I asked for the receipt, it showed £411 for my delivery plus another customer’s table, which I was told we were “splitting”.

Overall, I would not recommend them to anyone, and would only consider ordering if you live within driving distance. If they had communicated proactively and kept us updated, this might have been a much better experience.

Regarding delivery costs, the total delivery charge was £500, as outlined at the time. As stated on our website, all long-distance deliveries are booked via Shiply.com. This involves two separate payments:

- A service fee paid directly to Shiply, and
- The courier fee, paid to the courier themselves.

For this reason, the full amount is not shown on the courier’s final invoice alone, which I appreciate can be confusing. We’re sorry if this led to the impression that the quote was incorrect — that certainly wasn’t our intention.

We’d also like to note that we reduced your delivery charge as a gesture of goodwill, to help compensate for the issues encountered with the chairs and stock availability.

That said, we do fully acknowledge that communication during parts of the process could have been better, particularly around the chair delays and refund timeline, and we’re sorry for the frustration this caused. Stock issues are never something we take lightly, and while these were outside of our control, we understand the disappointment they created and regret that the resolution took longer than it should have.

We appreciate your initial trust in us and are genuinely sorry that the overall experience didn’t reflect the standard we aim to deliver.

Amazing service and great product

I can’t thank Jezz, Maya and the team for a great job of supplying our table. Right from the start I had any meeting at the workshop to discuss my requirements. I had my quote in a couple of days later and then after a tweak to the design. I placed my order and it delivered bang on time.

At first I was quite dubious due to…

At first I was quite dubious due to some bad reviews online, but I thought I would give them the benefit of doubt as I’ve worked in a small family run business & know how hard it can be to please everyone plus the beautiful pieces of furniture they create I couldn’t get them out of my head, wanting to have these in our new home to create the perfect dining space for everyone.
We ordered a Beautiful scaffold board Table with a matching Bench 3 wishbone chairs and 2 Ovie chairs at the end of August then we decided that we needed some sort of tray table for our living room Pouffe, so we got back in touch with The Table Guys and asked if they could also make us a bespoke table tray to fit over our Pouffe so that everything matches and flowed through the house.
Although it took a while for them to reply due to my emails going into there junk box, they finally got back to us and were more than willing to help create the tray table with measurements we provided.
Even though they did take quite a while to arrive we are absolutely blown away by the craftsmanship and how beautiful they are.
We appreciate the efforts gone into every piece of furniture we ordered and so thankful that they arrived in time for Christmas.
Once again Thankyou so much for helping us create the perfect space to enjoy for years to come. 🥰🎄 Merry Christmas

Friendly helpful family firm. Wonderful table.

Superb Customer Service

Ordered a Prosecco table for delivery prior to a function we were having and requested a quick turnaround. Communication was very good and the table was made in time to be delivered and put in place for our function.
Delivery was seamless and the table was left set up exactly where we wanted it.
I would recommend this company and would use again.

SCAM! Avoid this company — don’t learn the hard way like we did.

We purchased a custom table in 2024. After countless delayed responses and every excuse under the sun, the table finally arrived. Within a few weeks it began to bow badly. When we reached out, our messages were ignored. After chasing repeatedly, we finally received a reply — with no acceptance of responsibility. Eventually, when the bowing became undeniable, they agreed to a replacement.

The replacement also arrived after long delays, and within weeks it too started to bow and then developed a large crack right down the middle.

Again, we experienced more delays, excuses, and being ignored. The company now insists on sending yet another replacement, but it’s clear they cannot manufacture a table that isn’t faulty. They refuse to issue a refund and instead want to send us a third table, which will no doubt suffer the same problems.

We are now in the process of taking them to court and will be pursuing the matter fully. This company should be struck off. They are extremely irresponsible, avoid accountability, and consistently fail to answer emails — when they do respond, their messages are long and evasive rather than addressing the real issues.

It has been nearly a year and we still do not have a functioning table.

Do not purchase anything from this company.

Terrible customer service

Ordered three stools in February and have still not received them. I have called and emailed multiple times but only received intermittant replies and have now not heard anything for over a month after I asked for a refund. I will be going to small claims court to get this resolved. Disappointed as I like the stools and was prepared to wait but the shocking customer service means that I now just want a refund asap. I would avoid ordering with this company!

Amazing quality, highly recommend

Fantastic service and products!

We decided to renovate our back garden for the summer and were looking for a standout piece for bbq’s and summer events with family and friends. I found this business online after searching for a good while to get the right piece and the table guy had it. Beautiful quality table with a built in bucket! Delivery to Ireland was a big plus!
