Dawn Rowley -Downsizing Move Support

We used Dawn to help move our partents, both in their 90s. She was brilliant. Super efficient and super kind and considerate. Not living close to our parents, I really do not know how we would have coped without her, not fully having taken on board just how much work it would entail -- not only sifting through the acquisitions of a lifetime, but arranging removals, collections for charity, clearance and cleaning. She even volunteered to help unpack the other end -- some 100 miles away from where she lives-- and all the time keeping my parents' confidence. I couldn't recommend her services enough.

Nicki was so helpful in making my friend's move to independent living. She tirelessly worked through all the issues and was there all day on moving day.

I moved very quickly into Churchill retirement living and the service offered was part of the home exchange service, so professional and helpful and brilliant at communicating, Rachael and her daughter were just brilliant from start to finish. Nothing was too much trouble.

Natalie was an absolute Godsend to me. I was able to do a lot of the non-physical aspects eg. notifying change of address myself but when it came to the physical aspects eg unpacking I don’t know how I would have managed without her. She was always there to reassure and support and she made the highly stressful experience of moving home far less traumatic than it might have been . Thank you Natalie.

Dawn Rowley was a godsend when I moved last year from a large detached house into a retirement apartment, whilst at the same time arranging care for my husband. She has a very sympathetic manner and great contacts, and made things as easy as possible for me. Highly recommend!

Karen Williams offered exceptional assistance as we prepared to downsize and relocate. She coordinated with a charity to collect our furniture, advised us on what to keep or discard, and actively participated in the process. Her efficiency is remarkable, and she ensured I stayed focused on my tasks before the move. Once we settled into our new residence, her efforts were phenomenal. Our arrival was met with a ready-made bed and an almost-complete kitchen setup, and she had neatly arranged our clothing in the wardrobe. Her ability to complete so much in such a brief period is truly impressive. Additionally, her sensitivity and charming sense of humor made the experience memorable. I can't forget her quip about the number of socks my husband might need as she held a dozen pairs, while I was stuffing more into a drawer!

I was visited in mid' August to plan a move anticipated during the first ten days in September. The assistance was outstanding in all respects including help with contacting three moving firms. Space planning was also performed whilst downsizing from a 4-bed house to a 2-bed apartment. At the time of the move my consultant unpacked and placed kitchenware in appropriate locations in the new apartment. Some furniture items were excess to requirements and the Sue Ryder charity was contacted to collect them for disposal. Unfortunately on the day of collection two items were not accepted, but this was never pre-advised to me.
During this period I suffered a significant bereavement and my consultant showed great empathy related to this sad event, and I am extremely grateful for her patience and perseverance during this time. Many thanks Senior Moves, and in particular my consultant.

Michelle visited my house prior to the move and together we talked through a plan for the layout of my apartment and what items of furniture would fit and what would need to be disgarded. I found her suggestions extremely useful. The following day an email arrived with a colour coded attachment showing all that we had discussed.

A few days before the move Michelle visited again and working from my list contacted the utilities etc to advise them of my new address.

I’ve just moved from Bucks to Churchill Living in Cambridgeshire and Gaye Linwood came to help me unpack and declutter; she was wonderful, friendly, helpful and achieved so much in the time she was with me. Very grateful and would highly recommend .

Having not moved for 36 years I was very stressed about how I was going to get rid of things, particularly from my garage. But I was extremely lucky to have Nicki to help me. We arranged that she would make two separate visits to my house and on each one she loaded her car up with things from the garage to go to the charity shop. She also arranged for a charity to collect several items of furniture and for a local licensed waste disposal company to clear out the rest of the garage which had been my biggest worry. Getting it clear was a huge weight off my mind. I could honestly not have managed without everything Nicki did to help me.

Dawn was brilliant. Mum was uncertain about moving, about what and how to detach herself from 40 years of life. Dawn helped her to understand her priorities. This was so worth it.

The help Karen Williams provided prior to our downsizing move was first class. She organised a collection of furniture by a charity, provided advice on what to let go and what to keep and was hands on with her help. Karen is beyond productive and she also kept me on track with my actions before the move. After the move she was extraordinary. By the time we arrived at our new home, she’d made the bed and all but sorted out the kitchen. She also had all our clothes in the wardrobe. It is amazing how much work she accomplishes in a relatively short time. More than that she’s sensitive and has a delightful sense of humour. I will never forget her asking how many pairs of socks I thought my husband needed as I was cramming loads in a drawer and she was holding another dozen pairs in her hands!

Our Senior Move Manager was helpful with both decluttering and packing and subsequently with unpacking. She had many good suggestions at the packing stage to ensure that we could find the things we needed urgently after arriving at our new home. She was invaluable to us and we are most grateful to Senior Move for the help that they provided.
