A Well-Structured Interior Design Course
I really like how well-structured the modules are in this interior design course. The learning path is clear and easy to follow, which helps me stay engaged.
The SketchUp lessons are especially helpful. They are explained in a simple way, so even someone with little computer experience can understand and use the tools with confidence. This has really helped me learn faster than I expected.
One downside is that the Facebook chat groups are no longer available. They were a great way to connect with other students, see their progress, and share tips and experiences. It was also very motivating to see how others were doing, especially when I felt stuck.
Overall, I think the course is well designed and supportive, and it is helping me build confidence and practical interior design skills.

I’ve had a really positive experience…
I’ve had a really positive experience with this interior design program so far. The modules are thorough and cover everything you actually need to know without feeling overwhelming or filled with unnecessary information. The content is easy to follow, and I especially appreciate the number of photos, examples, and additional resources provided throughout the portal, they make it much easier to understand concepts and apply them to assignments.
One of the biggest highlights for me is how the assignments are structured. They are mostly renovation and project-based, which means you’re not just learning theory, you’re actively building a portfolio as you go. That’s been incredibly valuable and makes the work feel purposeful and aligned with real-world design.
I also really enjoy the flexibility of the program. Being able to work at my own pace has allowed me to feel more relaxed and confident in my learning process, rather than rushed. My tutor has also been amazing! Her feedback is detailed, thoughtful, and encouraging, which has given me a lot of confidence that I’m on the right path with this career.
Another huge plus is the price. The value you get from this course is honestly amazing for what you pay. It feels completely worth it, even if your goal is simply to learn how to design and work on your own home.
If I had to mention a downside, it would be that, like most online programs, you don’t get the same level of in-person interaction or hands-on experience. There’s also less opportunity for spontaneous collaboration with peers. That said, the structure of the program and the support provided still make it a really strong learning experience overall.
I would definitely recommend this program to anyone looking to get into interior design in a flexible, practical, and well-supported way.

Great course that fits into a busy lifestyle.
The flexibility has allowed me to complete this course along side my current job and busy schedule with young kids. The modules and assignments are full of useful information. Had to try a few of the recommended programs for creating a floor plan before I found one that worked for me, so more guidance through that piece would have been helpful. Otherwise having a great experience!

I am so pleased I decided to start my interior design journey with IDI. I am currently half way through the course and so far the modules have been really interesting and thorough.

Well worth the money!
The instruction provided by the Interior Design Institute has been incredibly helpful in my first years of interior design work. What I’ve learned so far has been well worth it, and I truly appreciate when my trainer is detail-oriented and gives criticism on how I can improve. I look forward to completing my final modules and would highly recommend this course. Khamille Joy has been an amazing teacher, and I always look forward to hearing her instruction at the end of each module.
I loved learning to create mood boards, and I incorporate these at my job almost every day.

A solid introduction to interior design, but not as complete as expected
I enrolled in the Interior Design Institute course with high expectations. I am currently halfway through the program, and my experience has been mixed so far.
The course material is clear and structured, but it is entirely reading-based. Personally, I expected more video support or recorded explanations from designers to help reinforce the learning process. While this may not be essential for everyone, it would make the course feel more complete.
I also found the tutor support somewhat limited. While working on the floor plan assignment, I sent two emails for clarification, and the responses I received were brief and did not fully address my questions. I eventually had to rely on friends for help to complete the assignment.
Another challenge is that students without prior experience with design software such as SketchUp may find it difficult to keep up, as there is little technical guidance provided.
That said, the course is not bad. It provides a good foundation and useful structure for beginners, but, in my opinion, it could benefit from more interactive teaching resources and stronger engagement with tutors.
Overall, I still believe the program has value, but it did not fully meet the expectations I had when enrolling.

I am really loving this course
I am really loving this course, it is current, intense, informative and provides you with all the tools and support network to help you make it through! It is a challenge for me with working 40 hour weeks and having a busy home life, the good thing is you can go at your own pace. I am finding it really rewarding doing this along side working in the industry so I can test my new learnings day to day.
