What a con!

Absolute con - do not get tangled up with this business.
I cancelled my membership - 14 months in so way past the 12 month minimum. I cancelled it because I couldn’t get an appointment as the local branches were short of vets. I ended up going to a private practice.
When I cancelled the policy I was told it was a month’s notice so I had another month to pay then it would stop shortly after that payment. I would then be sent a bill for around£80 as the wormers I’d had 2 months earlier cost £180 - really?
So in effect it’s costing me 5 months subscription to end in 2 weeks.

Poor compared to competition

It used to be the best option for saving money-compared to competitors but that gap has now been bridged and on the contrary, it's now proving the worst. When I first started using it, monthly subscription was £12.99 but this has now increased to £14.99 and furthermore, the clinics have since massively increased their prices to make up for the losses sustained by the health plan. The cost of a vaccine with a CVS clinic is now £130 compared to other clinics which are £60-£65. The 6-month health check is also with a nurse so if you raise any concerns, you have to rebook another appointment with a vet which just results in unnecessary time wasting and you have to pay the vet fee anyway. The brand of food offered for rabbits as part of the '1 monthly free pack' is utter garbage in terms of quality and company ethics - I wish it stopped being promoted.

You used to be able to save £15-20 on the basics but now the cost of vaccines, preventative treatment and the 6 month check actually end up being cheaper when paid for individually than through the health club. The 10% off of medication and the like is nice but end of the day, it's cheaper to get the medication from pharmacies than the clinics anyway so with the health plan, you actually end up out of pocket.

Despite being advertised as covering the full vaccine course, clinics can also adapt this. Our CVS vet only provides the first vax free of charge and 10% off the second one - despite it being necassary. We've moved back to Pet Health Club clinics as despite the higher monthly cost, they actually enable savings and the clinics don't pump their costs up nearly as much.

No thank you

No thank you
...very strange set up. Lots of feedback on newsletters etc which is bizarre. As is this service...when you dig deeper it's money should be used on actual insurance.....especially when the vets / companies are in collusion...I asked them to clarify specifically what the monies were for and got different stories from vets and the website.

Such a rip off

A con. It may be the actual vet practice (Bridge veterinary practice Wroxham) as opposed to healthy pet club but even so this is awful. Supposed to contact users each month to let them know that the treatments are available for collection but 'data base issues' meant they failed to contact me for several months then, when challenged they offered me 50%

Excellent

So happy I joined for my 2 senior dogs. Was delighted to find out their vaccinations were free. I have gotten more our of Healthy Pet's Club than my dogs insurance company (I won't name them here). Really good value for money and % off with every visit and medication.

Not good value

Firstly double charged me then when I tried to cancel they referred me back to the vets I used and didn’t accept my cancellation. Then the vet tells me I can’t have any missed treatment for worms, flea or tick treatments as if I don’t collect each month that’s my issue. All in all this is really poor value. You are way better off just shopping around. I wish I had not signed up to this and saved the money.

Charged a consultation fee at a ‘free’ 6 month health check up

I’ve never had any issues with this until yesterday when my dog went in for her 6 month health checkup and vaccination. The practice had booked the appointment with a vet and whilst doing the check up they picked up she had an ear infection. It wasn’t until we were leaving that we were advised that although the infection had been picked up during her 6 month health check up - we still needed to pay a consultation charge as an infection had been picked up on. What is the point in having a ‘free’ health care check up if any issues found are then going to be charged a consultation fee? I’d be better off cancelling and then what I save can go towards her vaccinations, etc and any such consultation fees in the future. I found this really underhand and this is not explained in any of the literature.

Mis-sold due to lies and lack of information.

I was considering signing up as a way of spreading the cost of Vaccinations. I enquired with the surgery how much the Vaccinations would cost without joining the programme. It turns out the figure I was told was around £50 higher than I actually would have been charged, so I decided to join the club on the basis of a lie.
Staff at the vet did not explain that I couldn't cancel without incurring charges. They failed to tell me this was a contract for a year. This club has been mis sold and when I tried to cancel I was threatened with debt collectors. I won't be going back to Pet Doctors Soham again, not will I be renewing the club membership.

If I could give less than 1 star

If I could give less than 1 star, I would.
I have been a member for 12 years. Since Covid appointments were very difficult to get with my vets, so I was paying every month & not receiving the full benefits.
I transferred to a new vets over 12 months ago & assumed that this would just transfer to the new vets.
This is not the case & I’ve contacted the Healthy Pet Club regarding a refund.
They say they have to contact the original vets - forwarded my email to the vets & asked them to contact me. My contract is & I pay to the Healthy Pet Club. Shocking customer service.

Rip off?

Giving 3 stars because I’m unsure of the benefits. My 11 month old pomchi hasn’t been herself for couple of days recently so took her along to Your Pets where she was registered and also where we signed up to the Healthy Pet Club. Bloods taken plus scan (I was told) plus kept at vets for 6 hour. Result, antibiotics and paracetamol = £750 saving 10% for being a healthy pet club member (£18.99pm) was it worth it? I can get full insurance a lot cheaper. How do we as customers know if we’re being ripped off or not? Your presented a choice pay or take your pet away. Not much of a choice. Wonder what anybody else thinks.

Absolute con

Absolute con

Just cancelled mid term. And have to pay treatment difference. Which is fair enough. But having calculated what the “saves you money” annual cost would have been. Compared to what it actually costs if paid separately. I’ve been paying £66 more per year. Plus all the promises of email reminders for treatment just don’t happen.

£216 a year for a medium dog

Treatment (vaccination. Kennel cough. Worm and flea) £150

Worm and flea far cheaper in bulk off Amazon etc. so even cheaper.

Shocking service!!

Shocking service!!! Registered my 2 kittens in December 2023 started well with the round of vaccinations and was given 3 months flea and worming then they were neutered in march again given flea and worming.. so far so good…. Then nothing no text, email to say collect next batch. I called the vets and mentioned this to be told we are sorry and that I am set up with reminders and I should be receiving notifications but they didn’t know why I wasn’t getting them and that my cats had also missed their 6 month check up in May, I said I never received any notification or appointment and they were 8 months old in May !!! They made me an appointment for August 15th also sent a text while I was on the phone that came through fine. A few days later I went into the vets asking for flea treatments they had obviously run out they gave me 1 month to tide me over. Fast forward 1 week and I received a text for 1 cat saying 6month check up due 31st July and this text arrived 7th August. I went into the vets today to cancel my healthy pet club as it is a complete shambles, receptionist tried to help but couldn’t get into my account she will get back to me… nightmare.. and I’ve cancelled the August check up as they are 11 months old !!!!!!

Absolutely appalling

Absolutely appalling. No reminders sent to me in 6 months although they've been happy to take £16-£17/month from me. I apparently can't get any of this money back. I signed up via my vet, but they are washing their hand of it and said that it is down to some errors in the data base from December onwards when The Healthy Pet Club got taken over or changed their rules! Disgraceful.

Old caring service gone 😢

Been with them over 7 years. Used to be great and worry free. They would just send you a reminder text for treatments or 6 month checkups and booking appointments or collecting flea treatments was easy. Sadly none of this is the case anymore. The money has gone up and there are no appointments. One of my dogs had to go over his annual booster twice! They said it was fine to go over. Well not in my eyes or when I have paid for this service. Also a warning if you want to cancel the policy WHEN IT IS UP FOR RENEWAL they will charge you for any checkups or boosters you have had in the last 6 months THEY ARE NOW taking money for a service they do not give. You now have to book in with a vet when you want to pick up worm or flea treatments inbetween the six month check up. This is so they can charge it to you if you try to cancel! THEY TAKE MONEY FOR A SERVICE THAT THEY DO NOT GIVE IT DOES NOT WORK FOR YOUR PETS ANYMORE it is a way of making money for them. My advice is DONT USE THEM! If you do then try to book appointments 2months ahead as that is how long it can take to get an appointment. This is what I was having to do! But no more I HAVE LEFT and paid the charges to leave!

HPC itself beyond bad to deal with. Vets in the scheme fantastic.

The vets in the scheme are fantastic.

The scheme itself is opaque at best and challenging to deal with. So long as you want to remain in the scheme it is great - reminders from your vet etc.

Actual contact from HPC itself is non existant. They make it impossible to know your renewal dates etc without calling or emailing. There is no online portal despite this been standard in pretty much any other company that takes monthly payments.

When you do leave - they insist on taking another months payment yet then let you know you will be billed despite you having no notification of price increases or renewal dates to let you cancel at the ONLY allowable time.

They make it just so incredibly hard to know how much it will cost you to leave as you have no idea what the 'bill' might be beyond them taking yet another months payment.

This is really not good enough in this day and age.

To top it off the call handler will randomly hang up on you when you call to cancel and be able to provide absolutely no information on the cost of cancelling your subscription.

So all in great so long as you never want to leave the scheme. If you want to leave be prepared for them to bill you to the high heavens to wring every last drop of cash out of you despite them failing to notify you of price hikes and renewals.

CANCELATION FEE Whilst I was extremely happy with the…

Whilst I was extremely happy with the vet’s in Okehapton and the healthy pet club.
I have moved approximately 25 miles to Bude in Cornwall.
The nearest vet that participates in the club (according to their website) is 18.4 miles away.
To my mind too far for vet treatment.
So I am surprised that the club wishes to charge another month of fees as notice of cancellation.
I am happy with the Healthy Pet Club and would not have cancelled. So in fact it is their inability to provide a participating vet that has caused the cancellation.
