Fraud

I have never used this company, yet I'm receiving confirmation emails for purchases being made at a food hall in Bradford. I haven't been to Bradford since the '90s.

Avoid Sum Up (or Good till)

Good till .. or Sum Up POS as they are now used to be very good. The back end system was very well set out and easy to use and the support was very good.

But in the last 12 months all that has changed drastically. They advertise ‘online support’ between certain times but, during those times it’s very hard to get a response you can wait hours for any response at all.

There is a support number to call which seems to be un-manned. If you call during their business hours you get a message to say ‘you’ve called outside business hours’

If you send an email (the only remaining option) you may get a reply after a day or several days but often reach a point where a quick call would sort it out. But you can’t call them and they won’t call you. So you’re stuck with emails that take days back and forth.

I would highly recommend looking elsewhere for a POS system.

Really good responses to any questions…

Really good responses to any questions I have had. We had a few issues when we first started using the POS system but now everything runs smoothly and has helped to streamline our business. The reports for accounting purposes are so easy to access - overall a happy customer - thanks

SumUp TheCrapTill

Was offered a good deal by sales and promised tills one week before our existing contract with another EPOS provider ran out so gave them notice. Payment for equipment was taken but no equipment showed. After multiple attempts to contact the company to get an explanation I got 'we are experiencing delays to our shipments' but no apology, explanation or potential date of delivery!! One week after our supposed activation date and after still getting no answers from anyone I told them to forget it and refund us. Got a reply email to this saying they will issue a refund but still no sorry or explanation? Genuinely gobsmacked and took a lot of self control not to swear in my response to that. Now forced back with my old EPOS now till which is also dreadful but at least exists. Anyone know any good EPOS provider for a small wedding venue with a busy bar to put me out of my misery?

STAY AWAY

STAY AWAY! BUYER BEWARE!

Goodtill don't even deserve 1star, but that's the lowest I can rate. Mis-sold Sumup POS, lots of promises made which they failed to deliver. Never act on emails despite chasing, like they think that if they ignore you then you will go away. Worst business decision ever, don't make the same mistake.

Easy to use!

I remember feeling very daunted by the thought of POS at first. However the support to set up our inventory was invaluable and I soon found it easy to use! I can add products in a moment now!

Trying to cancel my POS subscription

Trying to cancel my POS subscription. Spoke to an agent on the phone a few months ago notifying them of my intent to leave at end of February. Did nothing. Sent an email to the support team. Did nothing. Have just been billed for another month, so I went on the online chat to correspond with a member of the ‘support team’. They told me I need to email the ‘support team’.

Save your time and energy and avoid at all costs.

Terrible! I was promised an integration team but didn't hear a peep even when I complained I got a phonecall that someone would look into it and then heard nothing.

I've worked with POS software before and would describe myself as tech savvy but I couldn't import any of my products even after I changed the file into the appropriate format and had to keep pesting the online chat as they were the only people to respond.

Once I was set up there were glitches with Tips and Natwest payments not being taken.

I was also offered a flexible term with the POS and a 14 day cooling off period and it was lucky I had this in writing as they tried to claim it was a 0 day cooling off period.

Terrible Terrible Terrible. Please save your time and energy.

AVOID at all costs

AVOID at all costs. Very unreliable company. Machine has not worked on multiple occasions. App declined payments when it shouldn't. No contact number for sum up and they don't handle enquiries well. Its always someone else's fault. Customer has over 50k in the bank and yet his card declines. Sum up blame the card yet it works everywhere else.

We have offered services to customers and when customers try and pay sum up has issues on the app and card machine. So we've had to walk away from jobs costing thousands. And have to go back another day to collect money and then the customer becomes hard to get hold of.

AVOID at all costs. Every business we set up we tell them avoid sum ups if you want seamless payments.

Last thing you want is a customer consuming your product or a service but when it comes to paying sum up does not take payment. Customer walks away with a freebie

A Cautionary Tale of Reliability and Transparency with SumUP

My experience with them has regrettably compelled me to share a word of caution with fellow business owners who might consider entrusting their financial transactions to this platform. As an agent for one of the UK's largest financial institutions, I am not only well-versed in compliance and AML policies but also acutely aware of the importance of reliability and transparency in any financial service provider.

their abrupt decision to terminate my account without a transparent explanation or opportunity for appeal not only left me bewildered but also highlighted a significant risk factor for any business relying on their services. This lack of communication and clarity goes against the very grain of what one would expect from a partner handling crucial financial transactions.

Moreover, the inability to appeal or even discuss the matter further reveals a concerning level of inflexibility and opacity in their risk assessment and decision-making processes. Such actions can place any business in a precarious position, potentially disrupting operations and affecting financial stability without warning.

The financial impact, while not monumental in my case, is not the primary concern. The real risk lies in the unpredictability and the potential for such an abrupt termination to occur at a critical juncture, which could severely disrupt business operations, damage customer trust, and inflict financial harm far greater than the immediate loss of funds.

In conclusion, my experience with them serves as a stark reminder of the need to carefully evaluate the stability and reliability of any financial service provider. A platform that can, without reasonable explanation, place your business in jeopardy is too great a risk to overlook. I urge fellow business owners to seek out partners who prioritize not only compliance but also transparency, fairness, and the ability to support your business through reliable service.

Sharp practice

I've been using sumup for a few years and all has been well until recently, which is why I'm giving 2 stars not 1.
Last year they changed the payment destination from my bank account to a sump account without me requesting, they say they sent an email stating this but as you can imagine we all get lots of spam so i don;t see this. As a result the money that should have been in my account was not deposited and it has cost me charges as a result. I'm now also trying to get the money sent to the account registered but am having go through some long winded process to do this. This is really sharp practice and very annoying. I have been pestered by other providers over the months and always turned away but will take a serious look at other options now because of this.

Believe the reviews that say they’re FRAUDS

Having used a competitor for 4 years with no issues, I tried Sum up because it was cheaper. BIG MISTAKE avoid at all cost!!!

My clients made payments for treatments. They queried why my clients in the comfort of their home decided to book appointments on their end in evening (not that the appointment occurred in the evening , merely booking)

The emailing process has been harrowing to say the least, they requested the same information 3 times. One for a transaction that was not even with Sum up, my website and to
Provide invoices for beauty treatments, in order to have my money released. I have never heard of providing invoices for beauty treatments. Each time, I told them that my business does not operate like this. A person books a treatment and they may request a receipt at the time or payment,
Similar to going to a nail shop, hairdresser or a grocery store, you wouldn’t receive an invoice.

After asking them to clarify why they were holding on to my money, and if they were asking me to make up invoices to satisfy their requests, they terminated my account and said they’d be holding on to the sums for 2 months.

THEY’RE FRAUDS!!! I’ve never had a charge back, so what is the reason you are holding on to my money?

I will be escalating this further!

Great Product which gets better with time!

I have been working with SumUp for over 5yrs now and they have always been great - of late they have definitely stepped up their game with comms and being on the front foot with info. We also use The Good Till and this has proved to be an excellent solution for our Coffee Shop.

SCAM ALERT worst company ever

SCAM ALERT! THE WORST COMPANY IVE EVER DEALT WIRH IN MY LIFE. They signed me up for the pjs till system. They delivered it then after a few exchanged emails, few and far between, the system wouldn’t log me in. I had to use a different re mail and create a new account. I was then left to do the engineers work, I was told they would load my inventory into the system but no response. My shop opened I had no till or card machine and they continued to IGNORE my emails. When I callled I was assured they would respond and send a template to fill out, return and they would upload everything and get me going. I’m yet to receive a response to the 5 emails.

I complained, they said I can return the products. I packed up as instructed and have had 4 emails igbored. DAILY THEY ARE ATTEMPTING TO TAKE AMOUNT S OF BOTH £55 and £150 FROM MY ACCOUNT! The bank has frozen so they can’t STEAL my money after they looked at the case.

I am now with the financial ombudsman as they are thieving funds from My account, or attempting to. They sent a Royal Mail collection today, so they have received my emails requesting I have a call from a supervisor, they are just choosing to ignore me, again!!

DO NOT USE SUM YO THEY HAVE RUINED THE OPENING OF MY SHOP. POLR CUSTOMER SERVICE. SCAMMERS STEALING MONEY WHEN THEY NEED YO REFUND!!!!

No help on fraudulent merchants

I saw on my bank statement 2 strange transactions for £5 and £20 on the same day from SUM UP *WA LINDGATE. I thus contacted Sum Up to check who this merchant was. Their customer care advised that I had to write an email, which I did providing copy of the bank statement, my card info, my address/contact number, transaction id details. After 4 days I still have no info on this merchant which may have simply tapped my card on the subway. Its very sad that a company like Sum UP takes little care in preventing fraud and helping customers that simply ask basic info on a merchant taking money from a bank account.

Tom's customer service is top notch!

We have used this company for a while and their general service and product offering are quite good. However, what I think makes them stand out is their direct customer support. Tom Savage has been super helpful and persistent with looking into an overcharge. Small business owners have very little time to spare and so working with Tom is a joy - making my life easier. Thank you Tom.
