Dangerous ride
We booked a car from the airport in Frankfort to our hotel in Prague for several reasons but primarily for convenience and timing. The experience was nothing but one disappointment after the next. First, the driver tried to meet us at the Departures drive instead of the Arrival drive. This was a 500 euro transfer and they sent someone without the first clue of how to pick up someone ARRIVING as the airport. it took over 45 minutes of our waiting and calling back and forth with him before he finally figured out where he was supposed to be. So, we lost almost an hour of time we were supposed to be in our first destination due to his incompetence.
Then, he proceeded to take a route directly through the heart of Nuremberg so he could get fuel for the car. It evidently didn’t occur to him that he should have done that prior to leaving to pick us up. Never mind that we were in the heart of a major city with all of that traffic instead of on the highway which was a more direct route. And, of course, there are numerous fueling stations along the highway. Keep in mind that everyone in the world knows how to use a map on their phone to determine the most efficient route between points but not this person.
It was raining during the drive and at times he was driving 89 mph (not 89 kph) changing lanes constantly - in the rain! We repeatedly had to demand that he slow down to a safe speed which seemed to irritate him. This was both reckless and put my wife and i in danger. Inexcusable! See attached screen shot of app showing the time, location and speed of our car. Also note that the app listed 80 Risky Events. By the way, for 500 euros we got a piece of crap small car. Aesthetics aside, it was a death trap. IMG_0124.jpeg
It didn’t help that he spoke almost no English and so it was difficult to communicate. Yes, we are American but travel extensively in Europe where we rarely encounter people in the hospitality industry who don’t have at least a rudimentary command of the English language.
Our driver’s name is Mykhailo. Let me say that when someone is trying to do their job the best way they can and do everything wrong - it doesn’t matter that they were trying and doing their best. Instead of us enjoying a peaceful ride we were terrified that he was going to lose control of the car and kill us. All of this is the company’s responsibility. They provide no training for how their drivers should perform, nor do they screen them to see if they have the temperament or intelligence to do their job. Keep in mind, this was’t a 2 mile $20 Uber ride, this was a 500 euro ride on the open highway in the rain.
I almost don’t have enough bad things to say about him or the company and nothing good.
