Having ordered multiple times from The Essential Fly I keep coming back because they have a fantastic range of products i need for my fishing and tying needs!

The delivery is always prompt and on time and i have always been notified of any delays on products that aren't in stock. Fantastic customer service!

Had a couple of orders - they always show stock then ship short and rebate - makes you wonder if they do this on the purpose? Won’t use again.

I ordered X2 sets of barbless flies as described as barbless
I ordered for a specific trip in advance of the 5-8 day delivery time
8 days later I contacted essential fly
As I hadn't received a tracking number or the fly's

I think the next day or 2 days later the flies turned up after I had a email saying they would check with the supplier

When I had received both sets where barbed

As a result I had to cancel my trip as the water only allowed barbless hooks

I then contacted essential fly and advised that the hooks sent where not barbless as advertised

They eventually replied that they had been miss advertised by Caledonian flies and that they are not barbless

No advice what to do to return just an apology for the inconvenience

So I then had to ask via email what they will do about returning

They then sent a email with returns form

So the general attitude was

That it's acceptable to not send the products miss advertised late or not at all
Leave the customer to chase up the late order
And not advise the customer how to return
A product sent miss advertised
Presumably thinking that they will just keep them

Not really impressed if honest

Saw the essential fly's webb site showing shop pictures and open times so decided to take a drive to check it out. Got there only to be told it's not a shop only online orders.Total waste of time and petrol. Given two stars just because the lady came out to say if I sat in the carpark and made an order she would see if she could rush it through.

AVOID. I ordered 4 leaders from this lot. i ordered 2 i wanted and 2 i didnt need to make up free postage. About 4 days later they said they didnt have the 2 i needed. So i was left paying for 2 i didnt need. All my messages were ignored. The 2 leaders i didnt want arrived days late with no tracking. Messages all ignored. I was eventually told to contact royal mail myself when its their job to make sure the package gets to me. Thats not my job. But this is the attitude of this lot. I then got a cheeky email from their manager calling me racist when nothing i said whatsoever was in any way racist. Im not a racist person. Be warned they advertise stuff and take your money first when they dont have the goods. AVOID!

They dispatched the items within a few days. Took a few weeks to arrive in Ireland.That’s down to Royal Mail and an post.

I received items that didn’t seem to match the colours expected. I informed the immediately but have heard nothing in response. It seems they have my money and are now not bothered about my customer dissatisfaction. Very poor, unfortunately confirming that eBay can sometimes be a speculative place to shop, where low prices can mean low quality, thus giving eBay a poor reputation.

They give their prices in € but do not prepay the duty, so I had to pay over 15% of the order value on top, plus there were items missing.

There was a problem on the website and I couldn't choose the country of delivery but they noticed it right away and fixed it. There was also no problem with contact, everything I ordered came quickly and efficiently.

How funny. On 'Reviews.io' this lot appear to have great reviews. Here in the real world (Trustpilot) they're clearly dreadful. I placed an order for items, nothing heard. I chase them, nothing heard. Use any other supplier - this lot are useless.
