Ordered a Christmas gift on December…

Ordered a Christmas gift on December 14th then emailed on December 15th to cancel the order when I was informed the shipping would not be in time as advertised. I have emailed repeatedly over the last weeks to cancel my order. Received an email on January 21st to state my order had shipped. I've emailed 3 more times with no response to again cancel and issue a refund. I cannot recommend this company.

Second one, love it just as much as my first

Just got my second knife from the cooking guild and they knocked it out of the park again. My first knife I got was one of the cleavers so I got a smaller one this time and it handles and feels great when cutting. The knives are sharp, well packaged and when you take them out in front of guests I always get asked about them and how great they look. Would highly recommend if you’re looking for some top of the line knives

The Cooking Guild is the way to go!!

I have the Dynasty series as well as the wooden knife holder. Best knives in my kitchen. I have a BBQ business and my chef and slicer knives are paramount to my business. These are sturdy everyday knives that have not disappointed.

The customer service has been nothing but impeccable. The ownership has the pulse of its customers and the industries they service.

Keep up the great work!!

These guys just don’t miss. The Cooking Guild continues to impress me. I just recently added the new Nomad Damascus 8” chef knife to my Nomad collection and as always, the quality and performance continues to exceed expectations. I look forward to my next purchase with these guys.

Best quality knives around

I pre-ordered the Kaiju Series knives and they are genuinely the best knives I’ve ever used.

I’ve bought a lot of knives online over the years at different price points, and for the money these are by far the best value I’ve come across. The balance, sharpness, and overall feel are on another level.

You can tell real thought went into the design and quality. I’d 100% buy again and recommend them to anyone on the fence.

Company is a scam just like all the other negative reviews.

Company is a scam just like all the other negative reviews. Purchased the Kaiju knives. 2 orders in July and 2 in August. Still nothing. No response to numerous emails and no other way to contact them. I will be leaving a negative review with the BBB even though they are not a member. No surprise at all. I am sending a letter via certified mail to Mr. Curtis W. founder and CEO to see if I can get a response that way. Not holding my breath though

Hey, this is Curtis, the founder of The Cooking Guild.
First of all, I am genuinely sorry for the delays you have experienced with the Kaiju knives. I completely understand why this has led to frustration, and I want to be clear that this experience is not what we ever aim to deliver.
The Kaiju knives were hand forged and made to order, and during this production run we hit some major and unexpected hiccups that slowed everything down significantly. That is on us, and I apologise for it.

Regarding the lack of response from customer service, this was directly tied to the Kaiju delays. When the production issues occurred, we had a very large volume of customers emailing at the same time. We have been working through tickets strictly in order and as quickly as possible, but I fully appreciate that waiting without updates is incredibly stressful and not acceptable.
This situation has been a massive strain on us as a company, but that is not an excuse. It is a lesson. We are actively learning from these mistakes and putting better systems in place so this does not happen again.

The good news is that Kaiju knives are now completed and ready to ship. I truly believe once you receive them, you will see the level of craftsmanship involved. There is genuinely nothing else like them on the market at this price point.

I would really like the chance to make this right for you and to compensate you further with additional knives or support. If you are willing, please reach out again and reference this review so my team can prioritise it and ensure you are taken care of properly.
Thank you for your patience, even though I know it has been tested. I do appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, and I hope we can turn this around for you.

1 star – only because 0 isn’t an option- Update: Issue still not resolved – delays continue, and public response was altered

I ordered from The Cooking Guild in April 2024. After significant delays with my original order, I was offered a Kaiju 10" Serrated Slicer as compensation.

The discount code provided for this compensation did not work. After weeks of back-and-forth, I was instructed to place a separate paid order for the slicer and was told the knife cost would be refunded. I did this in good faith. The knife cost was eventually refunded, but I was left paying shipping for an item that was supposed to be compensation for their own delays.

Communication throughout this process was slow, inconsistent, and often contradictory. Different representatives gave different explanations and “final offers,” many of which were later walked back. Shipping dates for the compensation item were repeatedly pushed out, with no proactive updates.

At one point, I was explicitly given two options in writing. I accepted the option that stated the slicer would ship once stock arrived, with no further action required from me. After confirming this, I received no response at all.

This experience involved:

Broken discount codes

Forced repurchasing of a “compensation” item

Repeated delays and shifting timelines

Poor communication and lack of follow-through

I am still waiting on the promised compensation to be fulfilled.

If you’re considering ordering, be aware that if anything goes wrong, resolving it may take months of effort and persistence. I would not order from this "company" again

Update:
I am posting this update because, despite public assurances from The Cooking Guild’s founder that my issue would be resolved “fairly and without further delays,” the final outstanding matter remains unresolved.

The knife has now been delivered. However, the shipping fee refund that the founder publicly acknowledged I should not have had to pay has still not been processed, nor have I received any confirmation that it has been initiated.

After following up, I received only a generic “we’re looking into it” response three days later. It has now been over a week since that message, with no refund and no further communication. This appears to be a delay tactic rather than genuine resolution.

Additionally, I want to note that the founder originally replied to my review with a detailed acknowledgement of fault, including admitting the compensation process was mishandled, acknowledging I should not have been charged shipping, and committing to personally resolving the issue.

That response has since been edited and replaced with a much shorter statement saying the issue is “resolved,” which is not accurate. The original admission of fault has effectively been removed from public view, despite the matter still being open.

To be clear:

The product has arrived.

The compensation-related shipping refund has not.

Promises have been made publicly, but not followed through privately.

This experience has involved months of delays, contradictory information, forced repurchasing of a “compensation” item, and now ongoing stalling over a small but principled refund.

I would not recommend this company based on customer service, transparency, or follow-through.

Hi, this is Curtis, the founder of The Cooking Guild.

I’m sorry you’re still waiting. I understand how unacceptable 76 days feels, and I don’t want this to escalate further.

Your order was affected by production delays, but at this point the priority is resolving this for you, not debating timelines. We can either confirm immediate shipment if your item is now available, or process a full refund straight away.

Please email us and reference this review so we can locate your order and close this out quickly. I’d like to resolve this directly and avoid any further frustration for you.

Order Never Delivered After 9 Months – Communication Stopped

I placed an order for a set of knives with Cooking Guild on May 1, 2025, and as of today—more than nine months later—the order has never been delivered.

For several months, I repeatedly contacted the company and was consistently told that the order would ship “next month.” This same promise was repeated multiple times with no follow-through. Eventually, communication slowed down, and as of last month, they stopped responding to emails entirely.

There has been no shipment, no tracking information, and no resolution. At this point, the lack of delivery combined with the complete breakdown in communication makes this an extremely disappointing and frustrating experience.

I strongly advise others to be cautious. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company and regret placing this order.

This company is scam!

Hi, this is Curtis, the founder of The Cooking Guild.

I’m very sorry you’ve been waiting this long. A nine-month delay is not acceptable, and I fully understand why this experience has led to frustration and loss of trust.

I want to be clear that we are not a scam. We have delivered hundreds of thousands of knives to customers worldwide. That said, your order was clearly not handled correctly, and the breakdown in communication you describe should not have happened.

The repeated “next month” updates without resolution, followed by a lack of response, is something I take seriously. Regardless of the reasons behind the delay, you should never be left without a clear outcome.

At this stage, the priority is resolution. We need to either confirm shipment immediately if the item is available, or process a full refund without further delay.

Please email us again and reference this review so we can locate your order directly and close this out properly. I would like the opportunity to resolve this fairly and bring this to a conclusion for you.

I’m genuinely sorry this has been your experience.

Ordered 12/15/25. No knives. No response. Today is 1/2/26.

Ordered on December 15, 2025. No knives. No response from customer service. Multiple emails with zero response unless you count an auto reply that says they will contact you soon. No way to contact them other than email. The review should be zero because that's what has been received... for $277 paid.

Hi, this is Curtis, the founder of The Cooking Guild.

I’m sorry for the frustration this has caused. I do want to clarify the timeline here, as your order was placed on December 15 and falls directly within the Christmas and New Year period, which is our busiest time of the year and includes public holidays where fulfilment and support slow down.

That said, you should not feel ignored. We do not operate phone support, but we do have an active email support team. Response times were slower than normal over the holiday period due to a very high volume of enquiries, which I apologise for.

Your order has not been forgotten. If it has not already shipped, it will be reviewed immediately. If you would prefer not to wait any longer, you are of course entitled to a full refund.

Please email us again and reference this review so we can locate your order quickly and resolve this for you.

I appreciate you raising this and understand your frustration.

Scammed

I ordered a knife in September 2025 as a I admired a knife owned by a friend. With no shipping notifications I emailed a month later & received a response about being on back order. I was offered the choice of another knife for free to be added to my order and told it would be shipped by late November to mid December. It is now the end of December and they no longer respond to my emails. There is no customer service number to call. I feel like I’ve been scammed by this company & extremely disappointed.

Hi, this is Curtis, the founder of The Cooking Guild.

I’m very sorry this has been your experience. From what you’ve described, this was most likely related to production delays, but we need to review your specific order directly to be certain.

We do not operate a phone support line, but we do have an active email support team. Response times were slower during this period due to a high volume of enquiries, which I apologise for.

Please email us again and reference this review so we can locate your order and investigate it properly. Once we’ve reviewed it, we can either confirm shipment or process a refund, depending on what you’d prefer.

I appreciate you raising this and hope we can resolve it for you quickly.

Hi, this is Curtis, the founder of The Cooking Guild.

I’m genuinely sorry this order did not arrive in time for Christmas. I understand how disappointing it is to be left without a gift and without clear answers.

You’re right to be frustrated. While some items in the bundle were affected by production delays, we should have disclosed that more clearly at the time of purchase and followed up proactively. We didn’t do that well enough.

We did scale up our support coverage for the Christmas period, but clearly it wasn’t enough, and we dropped the ball here. That’s on us. We are taking this seriously and putting changes in place so this does not happen again.

I appreciate you giving us a second chance based on your previous experience, and I’m sorry we didn’t live up to that trust this time. If you’re willing, please email us again and reference this review so we can resolve your order or arrange a refund promptly.

Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback.

Scam?

I purchased hundreds of dollars of products on December 1st as Christmas presents. As of the 20th they still haven’t shipped. I have emailed them 4 times and called them once and and I haven’t received a response. I’ve requested a refund and haven’t received a response. I’m very disappointed.

Hi, this is Curtis, the founder of The Cooking Guild.

I’m sorry for the frustration this has caused, especially with these being Christmas gifts. I understand how worrying it feels when you’re waiting on an order and not getting timely responses.

We are not a scam, but your order was impacted by a seasonal backlog and production delays around the holiday period. We should have communicated more clearly and responded faster to your emails, and I apologise for that.

We do not operate a phone support line, but we do have an active email support team. During December, enquiry volumes were significantly higher than normal, which unfortunately slowed response times.

If you’ve requested a refund, we will honour that. Please email us again and reference this review so we can locate your order immediately and either confirm shipment or process the refund without further delay.

Thank you for raising this, and I’m sorry this has been your experience.

It is a dropshipping company from Ali Express

I have bought knives from the cooking guild before. And the knives are good quality. BUT. I found all their knives on Ali express. ALL OF THEM. So the 200 dollar knives are 10-30 dollars. They just put their label on them.

It is a purely a dropshipping company. Do not fall for it like I did.

Hi, this is Curtis, the founder of The Cooking Guild.

I’ll be direct here because this claim is simply not true.

We custom design every knife we sell. Our blades, profiles, handles, engravings, packaging, and specifications are developed specifically for our brand, and nothing on our store is sourced from AliExpress or any other dropshipping marketplace.

We also hold officially licensed collaborations, including a Ford partnership. Those products go through legal licensing, design approval, and manufacturing processes that are not possible with dropshipped or off-the-shelf items.

What you are likely seeing online are low-quality lookalikes or generic knives that visually resemble popular styles. That does not mean they are the same product. Steel type, heat treatment, grind, balance, quality control, and warranty are where the real differences are, and those details are not visible in a thumbnail image.

We stand behind our knives with a lifetime warranty and have served over 175,000 customers worldwide. If we were reselling $10 dropship products, that simply would not be possible.

You’re entitled to your opinion, but stating that all of our knives are AliExpress dropshipped is factually incorrect.
