On a lark, I entered the first page of a horror collection I wrote and edited entirely myself and published back in 2020. No AI was used at all. I wrote every line, straight from my own imagination as I have for years.
This program claims that excerpt was 72% AI generated. No, it was zero percent AI generated.
These apps are not trustworthy. Be very careful about using them for any sort of guidance, because as I've learned here, they produce wildly inaccurate results.
The company responded and requested more information. All I can tell you is I used the free online TextGuard sample AI checker with several paragraphs of my first page which was entirely written by me and it said it was 72% AI generated. I actually have a screenshot of this, but apparently I can't add that here.
Additionally, I found a Reddit thread from six months ago online today specifically about TextGuard that shows I am not the only one who has experienced this, so apparently I'm not the first author to point this out. Trustpilot won't allow me to share the link, otherwise I would.
The problem is scam artists pretending to be real writers and using generative AI to create stories they didn't actually write are now using systems like yours and the false results it generates to accuse actual writers like myself of using AI because we bothered to master the use of proper grammar.
If your product opens the door for this to happen then, no, it shouldn't be allowed in the public square until you find a way to block it from being used that way or refine the system so there are no false results. Otherwise, it's doing more harm than good. My rating stands.

You have not confirmed whether you are a registered user or purchased a subscription. If you are not a paying customer, then your experience reflects the limitations of a free, simplified preview — not the actual service we provide to our users.
We are not trying to mislead anyone. We are a legitimate company, and we are transparent about the limitations of both our free preview and our full service. No AI detector on the market is 100% accurate, and false positives are a known limitation of this technology.
