Service Agreement Not Fully Completed

I normally do not write reviews, but after several months of reflection, I feel it is appropriate to share my experience with Terry’s Automotive (auto repair in Norfolk and car dealer in Chesapeake).
My husband and I began using Terry’s Automotive about a year ago after being referred by another mechanic. Initially, we were very satisfied with the service we received and trusted the business enough to bring multiple vehicles there and recommend them to others.
In January 2026, after the passing of my son, I made the difficult decision to sell his Dodge Ram 1500 Big Horn. The truck meant a great deal to him and was kept in excellent condition. Based on our prior experiences, I offered Terry, the owner of Terry’s Automotive, the opportunity to purchase it.
We agreed to a combination of partial cash payment and future repair work/parts for my husband’s vehicle. Terry confirmed the agreement with a firm handshake, and we were told the parts would be ordered and the work would begin once they arrived. Terry did provide the agreed monetary portion; however, the repair portion of the agreement has not been completed.
Over the following months, we were told there were delays involving parts availability, which we initially understood. Unfortunately, as time passed, no work was completed despite the agreement that had been made.
What makes this especially difficult is the sentimental value attached to the truck. Knowing how much my son loved that vehicle has left this experience carrying more emotional weight than an ordinary business matter.
I understand delays and complications can happen in business, but I believe follow-through and accountability are important. I am simply sharing my experience so others can make informed decisions.
