Ancient tent rescued!

I wanted to resurrect my 40 year old hiking tent, when the flysheet seams began to let in rain. After thinking about re-taping, I was offered a new (better) flysheet for a decent price. I don't think many companies would make the effort to help, with no great profit in mind. My old tent is back in business and waterproof again.

10/10 Customer service.

After doing a lot of research to find a new tent i settled for the Terra Nova Southern Cross 2.

Firslty they offered me a discount if i sent my old tent to them for recycling. Honestly this is very commendable. It was also a very quick and easy process to receive the discount and send my old tent to them.

I received my new tent within a couple of days via DPD.

The first night out in the tent and one of the poles failed, this in turn caused the second pole to bend. Im really not sure what went wrong with it as it was pitched perfect in a fairly sheltered area, and the wind was pretty low, but i guess these things can and do happen.

I contacted Terra Nova and told them my situation and without question they offered to replace my broken poles totally free of charge, they will arrive next day.

Overall im very happy with the tent and i hope what ever caused the pole to fail is an isolated event but i guess only time will tell for that.

Terra Novas customer service is 10/10, and for me that means everything when spending a lot of money, which gives me confidence to buy their products again in the future.

Terra nove hyperspace not made in UK but in China

So me and my husband ordered the hyperspace this week from terra nova had a terra nove tent for years but wanted to upgrade and because there a british made company we thought we would stick with them. So we sent our old tent to them to be traded in and we ordered the hyperspace When we ordered it it stated we would have to wait 6-8 as it was made to order in the Derbyshire factory. It turned up the day after we never received any confirmation on the delivery. When we went to register the guarantee we looked at the labels and Only to find out it was made in China. We rang the company up as we wanted to find out why it was made in china and not the UK the lady didn't really have a clue and said she would speak to the manager after he finishes his meeting and ring me back (let's see if they do).
Talk about false advertising on there website. Not happy and tent will be going back 😞 x

This is what it states online regarding there tents been made in China.
Terra Nova Equipment designs, develops, and manufactures high-end, award-winning, and expedition-ready tents in Derbyshire, UK. While their premier Terra Nova brand focuses on UK-made, high-performance gear, their budget-friendly range, Wild Country, is designed in England but manufactured in China.

Reply from Terra Nova Equipment

Hi,

Please accept our sincere apologies for the confusion. While we traditionally manufacture our expedition tents, including the Hyperspace, at our Derbyshire factory, a large order of Quasars meant we reached our UK capacity.

To avoid significant delays for our customers, we moved this specific batch to our trusted facility in China. We are currently updating our website to ensure this is clear for all future orders.

Best regards,
The Terra Nova Team

Poor equipment experience.

My Extremities ski gloves weren't up to standard - used 4 times in 20 months (4 weeks max), but thumbs soon worn through and the stitching came apart. The gloves clearly weren't up to the task, despite being advertised as such. Terra Nova just said that they couldn't do anything as the 12 months warranty had expired. They didn't respond to further emails. In my experience, their equipment isn't up to the advertised quality and they just don't want to help long-term customers - a tick-box culture, it seems.

While diligently searching for a new tent, I got excellent guidance straight from Terra Nova. I ended up purchasing the ideal tent that suits me perfectly—a high-quality, four-season model that offers great value. Extremely satisfied with both the service and the tent.

Terra Nova Southern Cross 1 - happy buyer

Terra Nova is an established brand but one I have no previous experience of. I purchased a Southern cross 1 - 4 season tent and tested it out almost straight away on the windy Brecons, picking an exposed area near Cribyn.
Extremely sturdy, easy to pitch and take down. No concerns whatsoever.
Company and service seems great.

Super tent! Terra Nova Southern Cross 2

A few weeks ago, I ordered the "Southern Cross 2" tent directly from Terra Nova from outside the UK. It arrived in perfect condition within a few days (note: customs duties apply), so it's super fast and reliable.
Immediately afterward, I tested the tent, which I already knew from a friend, for a week in wind and rain on the Danish Baltic Sea during a sea kayaking trip.
It's a pretty perfect tent for kayaking (and other trips) with plenty of storage space in the two vestibules, although the inner tent only fits one person. The positive aspects are the low weight and pack volume, yet plenty of storage space, the good workmanship, the variable ventilation options, the wind-resistant stability, no flapping, and quick setup and takedown.
It's not cheap, but it's worth the price.
And the phone service was also excellent, despite the foreign language.

Amazing customer service

Been using terra nova tents for 30 years. Saved my life a few times. My 25 year old voyager finally gave up so I sent it for repair at the factory. Bad news was it was past repairing. Good news was they offered me an amazing deal on a new southern cross 2. They didn't have to do this so I was amazed and eternally thankfully. Looks like I will survive another winter.
Amazing kit, amazing people. Made in my home county.
Thanks.

Seriously let down by poor service - Bought a tent even though they knew it was never in stock

I recently placed an order through the Terra Nova website and was really let down by the entire experience. I’m writing this review so others aren’t left in the same frustrating situation.

I ordered a tent, received a confirmation email saying it had been processed and would ship shortly, and even sent a follow-up email asking about the delivery time - no response. After days of silence, I tried calling but couldn’t get through. It took six days to finally speak to someone, only to be told that the tent was never in stock - even though it was listed on the website and being sold at a discount.

At no point was there any indication that the tent wasn’t available. Had I not chased them down myself, I’d still be waiting. No update, no delay notice, no apology. The whole situation has thrown off my planning for an upcoming trip. I spent weeks researching the right tent, built parts of my itinerary around it, and now I’ve lost a week waiting for a tent they knew they never had.

To make things worse, the delay meant I missed major summer sales, so it’s cost me both time and money. While I appreciate that a refund is being processed, the lack of communication and transparency was incredibly disappointing.

I’ve always been fond of Terra Nova and had only heard good things, which is why this experience was such a letdown. For a company built around reliability and adventure, clear communication and honest stock updates should be the bare minimum.

Great Customer Service

Quality of equipment is fantastic. Unfortunately I had to send back as unable to go on planned trip. Spoke to Gopi who has helped answer many questions for me and processed my refund with no delay. Best customer service I have received for many years. 10/10.

So I bought the Southern Cross 2 around…

So I bought the Southern Cross 2 around the 30/10/23 for £690 and have used it probably between 10 to 15 times. Within that timescale the poles have been bent twice due to wind and the zip door has broken due to a little bit of user error but at the same time I'm questioning the use of materials on this tent because all I did was try to use the zip which snagged and then came off in my hand, and I'd like to say the materials are pretty similar if not the same to a tent 1/2 the price.

This tent is marketed as a 4 season tent!? It's only four season if you pick what days you go out on, we live on a windy island so for poles to keep bending and given a response to just keep replacing them is beyond me. I didn't buy a tent that I have to keep replacing parts on and repairing for just shy of £700. It's all ok though, I was offered %15 off my pole purchase...

So now I'm left without a tent because I refuse to pay for repairs on a tent that isn't fit for purpose. I went with this company because they are UK based but I'll do you a favour get the Nort Tent vern 2 it's the same price point and looks bomb proof, don't make the same mistake I have and think your buying a 4 season tent when really it's 3 season at best.

Bought my Terra Nova Pioneer 2 late last year. Unfortunately managed to break a pole last Thursday night. Emailed them Friday morning and under the 2 year no quibble pole guarantee my new pole arrived on the following Tuesday. Outstanding customer service.

No item received and no refund

Bought an item from Terra Nova through mountain warehouse. The item never arrived and Terra Nova and mountain warehouse have both refused to refund. Avoid them.

Luckily I bought the item on credit so I'll be able to report this to the bank as fraudulent and hopefully get refunded that way.

Delivery times misleading information

The site state next day delivery and thus misleading. To clarify, they 'aim' to dispatch orders within 48 hours of receipt. They ship it to DPD’s next-day delivery service. DPD then can take up to 3 days to deliver. So in summery if you buy an item < £50 you pay premium rate for delivery that falls way beyond what is stated
