I have been a repeat customer to Telcan for 3 years (I spend my summer in Toronto every year, and every time I returned to Toronto I signed up with Telcan).
Every single time, I encountered issues. Either the rented modem wasn't configured properly, internet connection kept dropping, back and forth with customer service to get issues resolved... and consistently every year I must called a number of times to remind them to email me the shipping label so I can return the modem. They insisted that they only email shipping label AFTER internet is cut off, I kept telling them that I'm no longer in the country and must receive shipping label BEFORE I leave.
This is a STUPID policy, Telcan! Simply assume that all clients stay in the same house after they terminate internet connection is beyond stupid. Change your policy.
Nov 3- Update
In addition to the above, after I cancelled my account and was able to send the modem back, they continued to charge me. They emailed me on Nov 1 to remind me that I will be charged on Nov 3. I chatted with them and was reassured that it was just an automated email and to ignore it. Yet, they charged me on Nov 3rd anyway. I called Telcan and Vishal (one of their reps) said it was the parent company (Altima Telecom) who bought Telcan about a month ago, and that I must contact Altima to get a refund. I called Altima and could not get through to an agent. What kind of business is this?
Do yourself a favour and stay away from this company: Telcan or Altima, either way it's just headache.
Note: Altima (parent company of Telcan) is a subdivision of Telus. Their Trustpilot rating is 1.2 --so please think twice before you sign up with them.
Throughout the duration of the service, performance was great. However, when you cancel, they WILL NOT refund the amount that you're not using. My billing date is the 21st of each month, and I am getting my service disconnected on September 30th. They're making me pay for the three weeks I'm not using, as they refuse to offer a partial refund.
Last year I changed ISPs to Telcan. Shortly after I received a cancer diagnosis.
Telcan mailed me three routers in a row that were broken. I was undergoing treatment, including surgery, so mailing them back wasn't really top of my priorities. It involves a 5km round trip walking to Staples to print the label and then to Canada Post, all while carrying a not insignificant weight in the form of a package.
I kept receiving threatening emails from them about charges for not returning the modem. We had a long -- looooong -- back and forth over email where I repeatedly told them what was going on and begged them to make an exception and send someone to pick up the modem. They did not, but they did eventually agree not to charge me for failing to send the modems back on time.
Eventually I changed ISPs and mailed back all three modems. Problem solved, I thought.
Well, no.
I was not entirely on top of my credit card transactions during the time. Can you blame me? I was on a lot of painkillers and barely able to think. I was doing my taxes today (self-employed deadline is June 15) and noticed a $282 charge. I immediately contact Telcan and, to their credit, they replied quite quickly.
The response was "After carefully reviewing your account and our records, I can confirm that we have received all the modems that were returned from your end, and we are truly thankful for your cooperation in that process.
However, I do want to clarify that one of the modems was returned in damaged condition. This was previously communicated to you. As per our policy, when equipment is returned in non-working or broken condition, a charge is applied to cover the cost of the device. In this case, that charge was $282, posted on June 22, 2024.
We understand this may not be the outcome you were hoping for, and we sincerely regret any additional stress this has caused you, especially during such a difficult time. Please know this is not a reflection of how we wish to treat any of our customers, let alone someone recovering from a serious health matter."
This was not the final modem I returned. It was (I think) the second one. It was damaged when I received it, that was the whole reason I mailed it back. It did not function.
They refused to refund me the charge, and it's too late to file a dispute, so the least I can do is post and let people know not to go to Telcan.
I've switched back to TekSavvy, their customer service is pretty great.
Telcan has been a game-changer for me. The unlimited high-speed internet is incredibly reliable, and the value is unbeatable—faster speeds at half the cost of the major providers. I use it daily for streaming, uploading videos, video calls, and gaming, and it never lets me down.
What really sets them apart is the customer service. Every time I’ve reached out, the team has been friendly, fast, and helpful—no long waits or runarounds. As someone who depends on a strong internet connection for both work and entertainment, I couldn’t be happier. Highly recommend Telcan!
Easy setup. Staff very experienced in the guiding process. No problems with the Lan and WIFI.
Good value service, it’s been fairly reliable and I like that their promotional rates don’t expire. It’s been about on par with the service I was receiving from Teksavvy previously.
I love their support. If I have any issues they are there to solve them, I can contact them anytime and I speak with a real person.
Reasonable cost and good customer service. We never have internet connection issues or any disruption. Great!

I'm a recent Telcan subscriber.
This week, for the first time that I can remember in my internet life, I received a notice from them telling me they would be performing some network upgrades.
I can't ever remember having received a similar notice from their competitors!
That says a lot to me about treating the customer well.
I'm so pleased to have switched over to Telcan!

The modem arrived on time, as promised.
Unhooked the old modem and attached the new one.
It took me less than 10 minutes to do it and I was back on the internet.
Thank you Telcan!

I have been Telcan customer for 3 months now. My experience with the service has been great. The ordering process was very efficient and quick. The setup of the internet was easy ( I did it in less than 30 mins.). The billing is clear with itemized details. The internet speed is faster than I expected. I did not encounter any problems with the internet service. I recommend Telcan if anyone wants a reliable and resonable priced internet service.

The technician was very helpful and fixed my wiring so that I could plug in my modem. He went pover and beyond to get it working.

The modem doesn't connect properly via wifi, therefore you are stuck with slow and service that is not reliable. Ie. can't load a webpage or use my smart tv. Any time you call to get help about the issue they say your modem is getting a signal therefore there's no problem. They finally sent me a "new" refurbished modem that was so banged up it looked like it had skidded down the asphalt. I was assured that they only use refurbished modems for all their customers and they are "fine". I connected said modem and the problem was worse than with the original one.
Suffice to say this discount internet company is not worth the savings.

Very affordable. Dirt cheap. The service is indistinguishable from a more expensive provider. My internet just went out and someone was available on an online chat almost immediately. When you call, you are speaking to someone almost immediately. I did have to contact them a few times but I was up and running again in 24 hours.

Transition from my previous provider went very smoothly
