Sudden increase of $30/month without…
Sudden increase of $30/month without notification. They expect you to rate every movement where you carry your phone with new app. I was a passenger on a highway trip and did not review and my insurance increased unexpextedly. When I received a call back from a supervisor I was told to deal with it. They will review in a year. App launched 2 months ago. Calling to speak to someone waited over 2 hours and treated like a child. Should be illegal. I am going to pursue with insurance legislatice board. What a scam. I am going back to Belair.
Fine until it was time to cancel
Everything was fine until it was time to cancel because I was selling my car. Cancellation came with a penalty of penalty of $115.38!! I've been driving for 36 years and done both monthly payments and full year payments - never, ever have I encountered something like this. I will not be returning
We had ice damn damage Jan 2025
We had ice damn damage Jan 2025
Got shuffled around from adjuster to adjuster whom did not even come into our home to assess. They recommended First General out of Hanover Ont for our immediate needs to remove the contents from our home, which was another disaster. Worst customer service ever on both companies. We ended up having to pay for the removal of the ice damns and lost blinds taken by First General and not returned, claiming they did not have them. First mistake was not sending an adjuster to our home. 2nd mistake was hiring First General recovery team
Please do your research when getting an insurance company. It may take alittle time but worth it in the end.
the issues started when my home policy…
the issues started when my home policy renewal suddenly jumped by almost 400$ for no clear reason . no claims or changes just nothing.
when i called to ask they why , i spent nearly an hour on hold and the person who finally answered couldn't explain anything . First she told me it was a system update then another agent said it was my "location risk" even though i've lived here since i was kid and all the times policy was the same , they again couldn't give me one straight answer.
To make things worse they pulled the monthly payment earlier than usual which over drafted my account .
when i called again after half hour waiting i was connected to a person who said it's was "normal variation" like that's supposed to make it better.
in the end i cancelled the policy but they still kept part of the next month payments because "it already processed" even though it hadn't even started yet
so yes...two stars.the insurance itself was fine but way they handle customers is honestly a mess.learned my lesson the hard way
Terrible premium
Terrible premium. You can find a better one almost anywhere else. Got dinged with a huge cancellation fee after I realized I needed to change too. Criminal
Overall dissapointing
Clearly customer service isn't their strong suit. Any time I mention how maybe TD could do better, the representative starts telling me it's actually all my own fault. Rude and unhelpful in that regard. They take their payments randomly sometime around the payment date but it's never consistent. When you live paycheque to paycheque, I need it to be consistent.
TD needs to hire competent customer service reps
First of all, my friend was left on hold for over 30 minutes. When someone finally answered, the experience was extremely disappointing. The representative had a very strong accent that was difficult to understand, spoke slowly, and seemed to be reading from a script the entire time. The request my friend had should have taken no more than a minute to complete if the person assisting was properly trained and capable. It’s frustrating to see large companies cutting corners by outsourcing customer service to underqualified representatives who struggle with basic communication in English. Honestly, it was one of the worst phone calls I have ever over heard. Thank you.
Outrageous house insurance premiums
TD Insurance..Meloche Monnex are criminals! They were charging us $3700/year for house insurance on a baby split home. When asked why our premium was so high no answer was given. And no effort was made to lower our premium despite being long time customers with no claims. Needless to say we switched insurance companies and pay literally thousands of dollars less for our home insurance. If you are thinking of getting your house insurance with TD Insurance Meloche Monnex run away as fast as you can!
Awful experience
Awful experience. I was sold a policy that didn't actually cover my home properly, then the payments kept going up even though I was underinsured. When I called to cancel, they kept most of next month's payment.
The people I spoke to were nice, but only one of maybe 15 agents I spoke with over the 2 years I was with TD insurance understood the policies enough to tell me I wasn't getting the insurance I thought I was paying for.
Go with a local broker and have them help you get the insurance you need instead.
The premium have continued to go up…
The premium have continued to go up above and beyond the industry. I have banked with TD for over 20 years, have every discount imaginable (University alumni, group bundle, winter tires, driver course), no claims and in good standing for almost 10 years since I began driving. The rate is still $450 more than their competitors. Appalling service by them, they care nothing about their customers or loyalty. Crooks.
Beware online home insurance quotes for Alberta
Don't bother to get a quote online for home insurance if you live in Alberta. I had several hours of my time wasted with this, they gave a very attractive premium but you have to call to purchase. When I called, the call center operator confirmed the premium, then when they have wasted time going through everything you have selected and go ahead to buy, the premium increased by 20%! The first operator couldn't explain the difference and was just pressuring for a sale. I did not have this issue when i purchased car insurance, the premium online matched when i purchased. When i challenged the increased premium with a second operator, i was told it's because i didn't buy online and so did not get the "discounted" premium, I pointed out that there was no way to buy online. They agreed that this was not an option in Alberta and basically that it is tough. How can they offer a premium that does not actually apply to you?!
My experience with TD Auto/Home…
My experience with TD Auto/Home Insurance has been deeply disappointing. Communication is inconsistent, response times are unreasonably long, and accountability is lacking at every level. Policy adjustments are mishandled, billing errors occur without notice, and resolution requires repeated follow-ups that go nowhere. Their customer service agents often give conflicting information, creating unnecessary confusion and frustration.
TD’s process feels opaque and profit-driven rather than service-oriented. I expected professionalism and reliability but instead encountered a company that makes it unnecessarily difficult to get clear answers or fair treatment. I would strongly advise others to research alternatives before committing to any policy with them.
TD insurance fails after fail then tops…
TD insurance fails after fail then tops it with a fail. The only way to speak toa person there anymore is to get a quote then when the sales rep phones you he has access to your policy. The MySCAM program, well, forced everyone to drive badly since your brakes were off limit and then they screwed you out of the discount. I would complain directly to them but don't feel like making a quote to get service.
These guys are crooks
These guys are crooks. Insane premiums and horrible service. They lock you into their contractors who are also crooks. It’s such a scam they have going.
TD is the worst insurance company
If I could give a zero rating, I would. On the advise of my plumber, I asked TD to discuss my claim with her. The TD adjuster claimed that she was not allowed to discuss my policy with the plumber and didn’t give me the option to authorize her to do so. Once the plumber told me how TD is playing games, I called the adjuster and told her that she was authorized to deal with my plumber. The TD adjuster then tried to tell my plumber that I didn’t have coverage even though I had the best water damage coverage. When the plumber gave her the address of another TD customer whose job she completed 2 weeks ago and was covered by TD. The adjuster then contacted me and said that they just updated their coverage and in fact I was covered. I am shocked that someone who is reviewing insurance claims does not know what is covered and what isn’t. Since then I have received 3 separate emails with revision after revision of what TD will be paying out. I have zero confidence that the final payout will be correct. After more than 20 years with TD Insurance, I will not be renewing my policies.
TD Insurance scammed
TD insurance had just scammed me for lost of trips using TD MyAdvantage App and other major bugs.
Since the new integration, once again not recording trips and missing . Spent hours on phone and being told bunch of lies. I will be going to another insurance company. Completely fed up ever since May 2025 until now with their lousy service, coverage and their ridiculous App that does not function properly.
Absolutely terrible company, do not risk it.
Absolutely terrible cancellation took 30 minutes on the phone. They jacked up the price 40% compared to the year before so I informed them to let the insurance lapse, do not renew. After I cancelled I received an invoice for double the quoted rate that I cancelled. They gave a credit for the amount of the insurance for 1 year. So in the end they are still asking for a year worth of insurance and had the nerve to include that I have indeed cancelled the insurance and that I need to make payment by such a date to avoid having my file "being referred to our collection agency". Would give -1 star if that was an option.
TD My Disadvantage
The old TD Advantage app resulted in noticeable discount.
After three days, I opted out of the new program. The new app hides the projected discount / surcharge.
Moreover, I've been driving for over 40 years without an accident. The metrics in the new app suggest otherwise.
I would give zero stars
I would give zero stars, if I could. They "update" the amount owing, and then, when you've paid that, they "update" the amount to a new amount. The online service is a joke. The telephone answering service takes forever. The poor agent who was assisting me felt the brunt of my wrath as the amount owing on my account changed several times online during our conversation. He was outstanding and continued for over an hour trying to sort out the problems.
