We’ve been using Taylor’s Jewellers for more than twenty five years, and always have had the best of service from Vince.
We didn’t know however that the business had been sold but we had no hesitation to return with some jewellery which needed repair and a new piece which needed a birth stone mounting.
The new owner gave us a price for the work after inspection and we accepted it. There was a delay in collecting the jewellery as a result of the owner’s holidays. Before we collected the items we received a phone call to say the stone mount would be more expensive, which was strange as we had accepted the original quotation.
We questioned why the price had risen at collection of the items, to which the owner belligerently and in front of all the customers said to the lady jeweller, “ don’t you ever give an estimate for something again without me seeing it” truly embarrassing her with a pointed finger, like a bully!
I said to him, that is not fair at all, because she did show the item to you when we left it because I was there with my wife and you said how much it would be! He never apologised to the member of staff or to me for his arrogance. As a result of his lack of manners and the abuse to the lady jeweller, I doubt now we will ever use Taylor’s again. The service has seriously declined since Vince sold the business.
