Talkiatry sucks
My psychiatrist was great. No problem with them. The company though cancelled appointments on me twice, one of which I didn't even find out about until the appointment was scheduled to happen. I then called them for over an hour on the phone just for them to finally create a ticket. They charge me $100 if I cancel within 24 hours so I would expect the same from them. The ticket didn't go anywhere and no even responded to the ticket. If there was another way to get access to the psychiatrists I would.
Absolutely terrible experience
Absolutely terrible experience. From billing to customer service to accessibility to cost- all of it. Do not waste your time or money with this.
Customer Service is absolutely terrible
I really liked my psychiatrist but the service is absolutely horrendous. I was cancelled on a day or two before my appointment multiple times. Then I would forget to reschedule because of course that fell directly on me & I'd get an email that got bunched in with the thousands of emails I get that indicated my care was discharged. No text, just an email. THEN I reach out to chat to reinstate my care & they ask for my insurance card - which takes more than 2 minutes to grab & I'm typing and they legit just end my chat because I took too long. I can tell you it wasn't more than 5 minutes. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR A MENTAL HEALTH COMPANY. Do not use them.
Talkiatry is an Absolute scam
Absolute scam. 4-30-26 received 2 separate emails saying coverage has been verified and I am in network. I had two appointments One at the beginning of May and the second was at the beginning of June. On July 4th I received a bill for 755.00. I called and was told that my insurance information was not received and that I needed to resubmit. Today July 22nd 2026 I receive an email stating that my insurance is not in network. Very deceptive.
My granddaughter just had her first…
My granddaughter just had her first visit through Talkiatry and we chose the psychiatrist by reviewing the profiles, and she could not of had a better experience hour appointment went over a lot of things but we were very pleased, have not seen a bill yet so I know from reading other reviews the billing was an issue hopefully keeps going along smooth for her because I was pleased to see her reaction To Dr Brown was so positive and eager to continue..
Awful experience
Awful experience. I initially scheduled my first intake appointment through the telephone customer service line for Tuesday at 9:00am; however, within 10 minutes of scheduling my appointment I received a call back saying that appointment was actually unavailable and needed to be rescheduled. It was not an issue because it was rescheduled to the same date/time. Ok, great. Around 8:40AM on the day of my scheduled appointment, I received notification that my appointment was cancelled (20 minutes before the scheduled session). I called customer service and it took nearly 10 minutes just to get in touch with a live person. They told me I had THREE appointments scheduled (remind you, I called customer service to schedule my appointment, I did not schedule myself) and would have to see if one of one of the providers could see me. About 9:10am, they let me know I could be seen and sent me an updated session link. I joined the virtual session and waited for about 10 minutes as no provider ever joined the call. I called customer service back. They gave a handful of excuses blaming me as to why the provider could not join the call (e.g., claiming I did not sign the consent form - except I am 100% certain I did). They said they messaged the provider to join the call. At this point, it was 9:30am - about 30 minutes late into my 60 minute session. I informed customer service to just cancel my appointment. They advised against it because they already let the provider know I was waiting. I waited 5 more minutes and the provider did not show. I again insisted they cancel the appointment and not to reschedule me. Awful experience, would never recommend.
Very good communication and concern
Very good communication and concern. Lots of follow up. Immediate refill medication made available. Trustworthy experience.
Fly by night
As a medical service provider this outfit is the most fly by night I've ever dealt with. The actual staff you encounter are fine, but the infrastructure was clapped together by an intern in his garage. Here's what I mean: When attempting to refill my medication, outside of the name, I needed to provide all the details. Including the pharmacy I had it sent to last time. Unfortunately, the system they have couldn't look up the CVS pharmacy I used. So I was unable to complete the request online. When I called the listed refill support number the AI they had answer the phone told me it was unable to help with refill requests.
If you have the option to choose a different medical service platform/organization, please do.
Good Doctors but ridiculously high…
Good Doctors but ridiculously high charges. Charged my insurance $650 for an initial visit of which I was responsible for $500 due to high deductible. If thats not bad enough the real problem was that I spoke to a customer service person BEFORE the call to get an estimate of the charges and he told me my max out of pocket would be $175. This is a money grab that gets good doctors and then adds ridiculous fees on top of what they pay them to make big profits.
Predatory Fees
I did not even finish creating an appointment online because they wanted my card on file but had not cost and I didn’t want a random huge bill. Even without finishing it they made the appointment and then when I did not show, because I didn’t finish making the appointment, they charged me $100. Their website is predatory, doesn’t make me trust that they don’t have other predatory practices. Beware.
My doctor is wonderful and caring
My doctor is wonderful and caring. Also on line visits are so simple and convenient.
Their customer service is also excellent.
My first experience with Dr. Mu Xu
My first experience with Dr. Mu Xu was absolutely amazing. He is a very calm understanding MD that I feel is very caring with his patients. He allowed me to express myself and explain my concerns with him without being judgmental.
Amazing, caring, and compassionate with his patient care. I was nervous prior to our meeting but he made me feel like I have been his patient for years! Thank you Dr. Xu!!!!
Very pleased with my providers services.
My doctor has been so good at trying to understand what I am feeling and helping me navigate my ADHD as an adult. He truly makes me feel as if my health and well being is a true priority to him.
Two times now
Two times now, the counselors have cancelled on me last minute. This one my 1:00 appointment was canceled at 1:02pm. So inconvenient.
I felt heard and understood for the…
I felt heard and understood for the first time. I have been in and out of therapy since my early 20's and never found the right match or confidence in my provider to attempt any type of medications. I feel 100% certain about my path moving forward and really appreciate the psychiatrist's input and diagnosis.
Horrible service and insane fake bills
I never completed the form or sent in any billing information. And they are saying I have an appointment while I didn't schedule one and making a cancellation charges a hundred dollars. That I am not paying!!
Horrible customer experience
Horrible customer experience. After more than 10 minutes on the phone with someone, an appointment still hadn't been scheduled. They just kept telling me, "Please give me two more minutes to review." After the fourth time hearing this, I'm done.
Disappointing First Experience
I was very disappointed with my first experience at Talkiatry. After having excellent experiences with other mental health providers, I expected to be met with professionalism, empathy, and respect. Unfortunately, that was not my experience.
My clinician arrived late to the appointment and appeared unprepared, which immediately left a poor first impression. Throughout the session, I felt dismissed rather than heard. When I explained why I was seeking care, my concerns were quickly questioned instead of being explored with curiosity and compassion. Within the first few minutes, it became clear that we were not a good fit. When I expressed that I didn’t feel comfortable continuing, I was told I would be charged a cancellation fee if I ended the session, so I felt pressured to stay.
As the appointment went on, I became visibly upset. Rather than responding with empathy, the clinician’s comments and demeanor made me feel even more self-conscious. I also had difficulty understanding some of the questions and repeatedly asked for clarification, but they continued to be asked in what felt like a scripted manner. By the end of the appointment, I felt judged, misunderstood, and far worse than when I started.
Mental health appointments should leave patients feeling respected and supported, even if a provider isn’t the right fit. Instead, I left feeling discouraged and without confidence in continuing care with Talkiatry. I hope my experience encourages the practice to place a greater emphasis on compassion, professionalism, and patient-centered care.
I’d leave 0 stars if possible
I’d leave 0 stars if possible. I talked with a physiatrist on a virtual appointment for 15 minutes and explained I’m only seeking therapy and do not want any medication, he agreed and suggested to do just that which was fine. I get a bill a few days later for $460 and my out of pocket was $254. I paid and bit the bullet and will not use this service ever again as it’s incredibly predatory to not disclose this to people before making an appointment as I specifically asked how much these services would be before making this appointment. I was told between $20-$75 . Now I’m left with no help, no service and a bad taste in my mouth about attempting to continue finding another provider.
I had a deeply disappointing experience…
I had a deeply disappointing experience with Talkiatry that I feel compelled to share. I was overbilled for services I never received an issue that should be straightforward to resolve but wasn't. On top of that, the platform's audio and video quality during appointments was unreliable to the point of being disruptive to my care.
When I contacted customer service for help, I was connected to what felt like an outsourced call center. The representatives were unable to answer my billing questions and seemed unfamiliar with how to actually resolve account issues. I had to repeat myself multiple times without getting anywhere.
For a mental health platform, the lack of accountability around billing and the poor technical experience are serious concerns. I would not recommend Talkiatry until these issues are meaningfully addressed.
