Terrible, terrible therapy. Not worth even considering

Terrible. Absolutely garbage healthcare provider. Cancelled appointment after cancelled appointment. Absolutely clueless customer service people who set you up with the wrong provider, the wrong region, the wrong hours. Absolutely terrible therapist who seemed on drugs, could not remember a thing about the patient, and then dropped me for no reason with no transition. Absolute garbage. Do not use.

Talkiatry Fees

I'm not thrilled with Talkiatry. I saw one therapist, melisa racklin, who fell asleep on me (& I'm not boring!) Then when I told her I was leaving, she said I had to stay 45 min or they'd charge me $100!!! What gall! I reported her & canceled all my future visits with her.

However, Talkiatry charged me a $100 "no-show" fee for one of the canceled visits! It took me a long time & several strongly worded emails & calls to get them to remove it from my billing.

Speaking of that $100 fee, be aware that Talkiatry also has that onerous $100 as a cancellation fee if it's within 24 hours. I suffer from migraines & I don't know when I'll get one. So, if I get one on the day of an appointment, I have to do it no matter how bad I feel. Luckily, I have a wonderful psychiatrist who understands & works with me.

Dr. Drake is a highly intelligent, caring & nice man. He's a very qualified professional doctor who has spent loads of time with me refining my meds to get a good result. I trust him & we have a great rapport. I can even make him laugh sometimes! I highly recommend him without reservation. I'd give him 5 stars if not for the management.

He's the only good thing about Talkiatry. I'd rate them a zero if not for him, & would've dumped them a long time ago.

Therapist was into this “feeling wheel”…

Therapist was into this “feeling wheel” thing. Told me to get in touch with how I feel without explaining HOW. She was mechanical in nature and lacked the empathy needed to counsel effectively. I needed to chat with someone that had warmth and spirit and understood my situation. ; not a computer that relied on some silly “feelings chart” that turned the whole experience into a mechanized mess.

No complaints

It’s always been a struggle to find a psychiatrist in my network, who was accepting new patients, and actually had reasonable timing for scheduling. Talkiatry is extremely convenient. My provider is excellent, and it’s easy to get support if needed. Sign up was easy. No complaints at all. I’d recommend this platform to anyone struggling with their mental health

Dr. Gross is the best

I spent an hour with Dr. Gross. 15 mins in it was like talking to an old friend, not a stranger. She’s kind an compassionate. 10/10 recommend!

Waste of time and money

Waste of time and money. I chose Talkiatry because they advertise themselves as being able to diagnose ADHD, and getting a first appt with them was so much faster and easier. The local provider I called, for comparison, was only accepting new patients at their offices that are too far, their first available appt was a month away, and they said their process is initial consult, wait 4 weeks for evaluation, wait 6-8 weeks for results.
I had my first appt with Talkiatry that same week. The woman I was paired with spoke to me like I was five years old and severely broken and she warned me up front she can’t help manage medications (no problem, my PCP was on board). My “evaluation” was a 2-piece questionnaire. One for me about myself and one for my husband about me. We filled them out and I sent them back same day and I still had to wait a month to meet with her again only to be told I needed to be tested by a computer. I wasted a month and two copays. Luckily I stumbled on another local provider that hadn’t come up in my initial search - first available appt for the consult was the following week, tested same day, results two days later.

The app is extremely easy to navigate

The app is extremely easy to navigate, set up appointments, and pay my bill. My psychiatrist is attentive, and takes the time to really listen and even do research about things she’s unfamiliar with. I’ve been using this for 4 months and it’s helped a lot.

HORRIBLE customer service

HORRIBLE customer service. The call center is incompetent at best. They never emailed confirmation for a virtual appointment, for my elderly mom. When I called to ask for it, they continually put me on hold to "enter information" without having asked for any patient identifying information. What were they entering? Then they claimed they needed MY DOB for verification, rather than my mom's. They made sure to let me know about a $100 missed appointment fee if appointment is not cancelled 48 hours prior, though.

I really like being able to talk to Professionals!

I really like being able to talk to a real mental health professional online like the Televisit. I don’t have a car, so this is perfect for me.
Dr. Park recommended a Therapist for me also, she is just wonderful. Now I have a psychiatrist and therapist, I really am looking forward to getting great treatment from experienced people.

Provider wasn’t a good fit so I thought…

Provider wasn’t a good fit so I thought I would be upfront and tell her instead of ghosting her. Well after the visit she put that I didn’t show up and I was charged $100. I called Talkiatry right away because I have video and audio proof of the visit and they are going to fix it for me. I will not be using Talkiatry again as I now do not trust the providers there.

I tried this online service because I needed a doctor because there is not many options in my area.

I tried this online service because I dont have many options in my area my good psychiatrists. I went through the entire assessment before Brian told me I am too complicated of a patient because I have anxiety because I'm not taking anxiety meds, and my anxiety, MDD, and bipolar are too complicated and he refused to see me. Which is fine because I could tell immediately he was not a good psychiatrist in his advanced age. He was stuck in his ways about things he practiced 30 years ago, and hasn't updated his practices. Do not recommend. See a real psychiatrist instead.

Looking for help with adhd

Looking for help with adhd, I spent an hour telling this person my life story and he basically said I had gotten this far and so I was not eligible for a stimulant which I was fine with and then he said he couldn’t treat me because he does not think “I am a fit”. I think he basically said he didn’t like me ? He said he was going to refer me to someone else but I never heard back. What a waste of an hour and telling my life story to some unqualified judgemental stranger.

The provider never joined the call

The provider never joined the call. I reached out to them to let them know and sent a screenshot of me inside the virtual session. They thanked me and said we were all squared away. They then sent me a bill for $100 for a no-show. I sent the screenshot of the bill and they said they would fix it. Then they sent me a text asking me to pay. Then they starting calling my cell asking me to pay. Amateur hour. A total joke of a company.

So I'm having trouble with my insurance…

So I'm having trouble with my insurance in my city I live in so talk a tree sent me a email saying they could provide telehealth here's where it went insane I received 17 emails and 3 days out I started getting texts twice a day I went ahead and opened up the telephone help and lo and behold they had a questionnaire to make sure that your therapy was suited correctly and have you ever heard of a greedy money hungry website that issues that question the reason I say that they're the most greediest money hungry of the other ones it's because I blocked their text after 13 tries of answering their questions over and over again and it never accepted them so after I blocked them they were able to send another text on another number but the best thing was is that I'm going to get psychiatric medication management from someone in Arizona
