Moderation process is inconsistent and unreliable.

We created an educational video for our customers explaining our platform. The video was approved immediately using one avatar. The next day, with the exact same script and content, we changed only the avatar — and the video was denied by the moderation team.

No clear policy violation was identified, and the content was not promotional, misleading, or advisory in nature. This inconsistency creates unnecessary delays and uncertainty, especially for businesses that rely on predictable workflows and compliance clarity.

If moderation decisions can change solely based on the avatar used, without changes to content, that should be clearly documented and enforced consistently. As it stands, the moderation process feels subjective and incoherent, which undermines trust in the platform for professional and regulated use cases.

🚨 Total Waste of Time and Money 🚨

My experience with Synthesia.io has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. I initially signed up for their service paying $89 per month, expecting a professional, reasonably priced tool to create videos. However, as soon as I actually started using the platform and needed additional video minutes, I was shocked by their pricing model.

When I requested more minutes, I was quoted an additional $10,000. Yes—ten thousand dollars. This is completely absurd and wildly disproportionate to the monthly subscription cost. I have never seen such an unreasonable upsell for something that should be a basic, scalable feature.

This pricing structure feels misleading and unrealistic for small businesses or individuals who genuinely want to use the platform. Instead of offering transparent, fair usage tiers, you’re essentially locked out unless you’re willing to pay an outrageous amount of money.

Between the subscription fee and these extreme extra charges, the service is simply not worth it. I would strongly advise anyone considering Synthesia.io to read the fine print very carefully and think twice before investing your time or money.

Save yourself the frustration and look for alternatives with honest and reasonable pricing.

Synthesia is easy to use and always improving. The avatars are the best in the industry at the moment.

I attended a webinar within days of openining account. While I had played with the trial version there major gaps in my Synthesia knowledge. The webinar was concise, targeting a new customer. This, with a couple of questions I had I was able to create an Avatar and create my first customised professional video. Something, without Synthesia would have taken weeks and thousands of dollars!

I have a good experience i would like to know more about AI.

Synthesia is a tool with lots of promise and potential, but unfortunately there are so many issues, you cannot create polished videos for public use. Some of the issues I encountered during testing were
- Poor generation speed - Navigating to a saved video on their website can take minutes, it looks like their cloud data is not sufficient for the amount of data on the system.
- Voice changes - On previewing a video the Avatar can completely change voices. I have a female Avatar and she can suddenly change to a male voice which is clearly a staff member from the audio providers!
- Cannot pronounce words - Certain words are a nightmare to pronounce and it can take hours just to amend a video to ensure the Avatar pronounces them correctly.
- Unreliable pronunciation - Once you have found the correct pronunciation you can 'apply to rest of video'. This feature is extremely unreliable and the generated video will quite often not be consistent on prounciation.
- Incosistent Acoustics - For no reason whatsoever, the Avatar at some point in the video sound like she is in a small room, and then in the next paragraph become muffled, and in the following paragraph sound like she is in a giant auditoriam. There is no way to resolve this issue and I just received an apology from 'Synthesia' blaming it on their 3rd party audio provider.
- Changes to a video after production - Quite often, you will make an amendment to a word on a paragraph, and when you view the video, the Avatar will not be able to proununce a word earlier or later in the page which they could perfectly pronounce on the previous video unrelated to your edit. This makes editing almost impossible and wastes a tremendous amount of time.

I have wasted weeks polishing videos which is not the job I was hired to do and I have fallen behind on other work projects because of Synthesia.

The most frustrating thing is the customer support is poor. If the issues are bad, you are unable to send them the videos for them to rectify - this service is refused. All they can offer are apologies for the audio or poor suggestions on how to fix videos.

Do not purchase this service. They do not offer refunds, so be careful. The support service is just an AI chat.
You will not be able to download the MP4 video, and this is not disclosed beforehand. You can only embed the video, which is absurd. There are other services available that are much better.

To get the MP4 file, they offer an upgrade, but the cost is not stated in advance.
They also claim that my video is not compliant with my profile, even though it was only a short test and contained nothing illegal.

There are better products available online. This feels like a trap, and many others are experiencing the same issue. I spent 79 euros for nothing.

Per avere il MP4 vi propongono un up grade il cui costo non viene detto preventivamente.
Poi sostengono che con il mio profilo il video non è conforme, ma ho fatto solo un test e non diceva niente di illecito in pochi secondi.
Ci sono altri prodotti in rete migliori. La loro è una trappola, moltissimi si trovano nella mia situazione. Ho speso 79 euro per niente.

The platform is not providing good results and we asked to cancel a plan made less than one day ago to be able to test it and they refused.
They use just AI for messaging, doesn't look like a good partnering platform.

Great content

Completely not for business usage. They stop you in the middle of your work (after hundreds of hours) with some idiotic feedback like … your market research information are not allowed in our platform…!!!!

Please avoid that system and take a real business platform- and safe your money…

The team members are very prompt in responding to user's request. They gave clear instructions and were open to receive suggestions, or observations. While I only had short presentation and used their trial option, among the other similar models I would always return to this one first. It was a lot easier to navigate, the sidebar prompts were easy to find, very intuitive and a good experience overall.

Synthesia is a wonderful site! I use it to create short videos for my students to study English. You don’t need to expose yourself to the world or bother with filming, recording, and editing your voice, making sure it’s of decent quality, and so many other things. You simply choose your avatar, select a voice, and there you are—with high-quality content ready to share.

I wanted to clone a voice and I was prompted to upgrade my plan. The plans explanation did not state clearly the feature and I mistakenly upgraded to the suggested update. After paying over five hundred dollars in upgrades, I was informed that the feature I was looking for is actually a standalone fee. I immediately requested a refund on the upgrade and was informed that they could not issue a refund. No humans to talk to and no wiggle room for mistakes. Definitely a frustrating experience!

The script renders not correctly. Two separate words are often written as one, without spacebar. I already addressed this technical issue, but unfortunately, it still exists. Consequently, my videos are of less quality and money is wasted because I need to regenerate the same videos, hoping that the error doesn't re-occur.

Great feedback from the team and our customers, a different way to consume information.

My experience was great. Alice was so helpful moving the conversation along. I liked the updates from a user at Wayfair and how they incorporate synthesia in the workflow especially the results!

It fulfilled my expectations as relates to an exposure as to how the tool is being used elsewhere, and features that I have not discovered yet.

I'm just a novice at creating videos in Synthesis, so I enjoyed learning more about the tools that are available.

This website sucks, I am doing a SCHOOL project and every video I made has violated their content polices because they do not allow marketing campaigns to be used with their own AI avatars. Use SORA instead. This website sucks.
