HORRIBLE experiences with their website AND getting past AI to a LIVE HUMAN - EVERY month is same issue- CANNOT ACCESS SITE - NO - My info is NOT invalid!!!

HORRIBLE experiences with their customer site for Synchrony Home - EVERY month I have to spend a LOT of time trying to get past automated ding dong to get a LIVE Rep on the phone to get online to pay my bill. EVERY month they help me and within a couple weeks, right back to telling me my inforation does not match or is not valid - Try to get in on the page for pw reset and asks for ss# and birthdate = Keeps giving me msg my info does not match their records - Pretty sure I know my INFO at this point in life! JUST got a letter in the mail that looks like a promo fee of 2% is going to appear on my account .. The purchase I made was 0% interest for 36 months - The Reps I get on phone are fine - Except one on a particular day - told me he couldnt help me access myt account - The others have been helpful and it is VERY APPARENT they too are FED UP with the lousy website that ends up with customers calling and getting them fuming and frustrated =I feel bad for them - Is not there fault - SYnchrony Home needs to clean house on their website peeps that must be just going to do a task to collect a paycheck with no care for how sufficiently it operates or end user shoes - This is the ONLY website I EVER have issues with getting into to make payments and check my account. And it literally is EVERY MONTH - Even AFTER the previous month a REp helped me make my payment over phone.. Never have ANY issue w Paypal - This division - Needs someone to give a damn about the people that feed $$ into it to afford people jobs and paychecks - that make the site that is so dys-functional.

The rewards are bogus

The rewards are bogus. I selected a virtual gift card. I go to the store and they did not honor the card. I called Synchrony and was basically told it's not their problem but to get with the store. JUST A RIP OFF

Not worth it

I don't know what is Synchrony's problem but they gave me a $1,000 credit card I've been making my payments on time and doing extra payments so in the middle of March I decided to put $400 down to my card just 2 weeks later, today to find out that they reduce my credit card credit to $600 then what was the whole point of making up for $400 payment for if they decided to mess me up, I called them so they can tell me I have too many credit lines open, like is only 4 cards and all in good standing accoring to my credit report! So just because of that they decided to lower me to $600 credit line that's stupidity and I'm going to cancel this card

Been a credit card customer more than…

Been a credit card customer more than two years. Agreed on a $5300 credit limit. Paid my bills on time or early…just recently paid them $1600 over the past 2 months and I find out today when I checked my acct online that they slashed my credit by $1800. This is the second cut in two years. No notification or anything. When I called customer service she read the script and basically said that my real estate equity was insufficient. I sold my house and property 3 years ago prior to ever having an acct with them. I would understand if I was late on payments or something… I have never missed or been late the entire time I was with the company. Will just do a balance transfer to one of my other cards. This bank is not customer friendly at all. If I could give zero stars… I would. Oh…and customer service rep said that I should receive the letter of explanation in about two weeks. They have no problem emailing my statements and reminders for upcoming payments… but fail to see the importance of telling a customer that there credit line has been decreased by 33%… who has paid his bill on time for 100% of the time. They are making their money… and obviously that is all that matters to this company

Shady Company With Odd, Arbitrary Practices

I opened up an Amazon store card account and have had nothing but problems since. First, they temporarily froze my account for making two payments in one month. Why on earth would they penalize me for making payments? Next, I decided to pay off the card in full. Synchrony responded by cutting my credit limit in half! In what sort of bizarro world does paying off one’s debts result in penalties? Customer service reps have been rude or indifferent. One rep I spoke to honestly sounded exhausted - like she knew she worked for a shady company and had just about had it with covering their butts. After the arbitrary reduction of my credit line, I went ahead and canceled the card/closed the account. I’d avoid Synchrony’s Amazon store card at all costs.

Is it Scam or Fraud?

So I have amazon synchrony card, and i just found out that the synchrony bank is doing something that looks like a fraud and scam to me.

So I use their offers of 6-12 month equal monthly payments to my big purchases, which are sated to be interest free.

When I looked at my statement today, I saw the interest charges.

After talking to the customer service with the agent and the supervisor, I found out that synchrony not providing the full amount to pay in the statements to avoid the interest, so the minimum statement payment amount doesn't include the promotional purchases balance of 6-12 months, which are STATED TO BE INTEREST FREE into my bill.

So this way they manage to charge interest on the purchases that are supposed to be no interest payments over time.

The only solution to avoid interest is to call customer service EVERY MONTH and ask them how much I actually have to pay each month in ADDITION to the statement balance to avoid the interest fee.

In addition, all this information is not available on the synchrony portal.

They actually just send you the paper statement and the email. The email just has the minimum payment and due date. Then, I have to call to the customer service to find out how much i should add to the minimum payment in order to avoid the interest charge.

Isn't it like a scam & fraud of promising people interest-free payments, then providing them the balance that has them incur interest fee???
Isn't it stealing money of millions of people, which has been going on for years?

The customer service supervisor of synchrony bank stated that a lot of people that call them are angry about it and the agents raise this issues to the administration, but I guess the administration just ignores it.

Great job synchrony!

Maybe I am going to make it public...

They cut off my card again!!!!

They cut off my card again. I have been a customer for many years. Cannot reactivate. Their stupid system won't scan bar code on DL. They promise to send me a letter in the mail - they don't. I sent them a letter with all my documents and details. Nearly 3 weeks and no response. Thing is, they owe me over $600 in rewards and will not release. I think they're either total scam artists or thieves. I owe them nothing. This is not the first time they done this to me, but it will be the last. I applied for another card from a bank and was approved in 3 (or maybe 2) seconds. A warning to all stay away from this card no matter whose name they represent. If it's associated with the name Synchrony, look elsewhere. GE are well shot of this one time business of theirs.

And it did exactly what the first review said.. They supposably pre approved me and baited me in into giving them all my information.. And then denied me for it all.. Please don't make the same mistake I hope this is one of those blessings in disguise..pos synchrony

They are definitely a scamming agency…

They are definitely a scamming agency to capture your data, then not approve you! I have a credit score of 807, my home is paid off, no debt and a good paying government job and I got denied! After reading the reviews, I am glad I was not approved, because I see they ruin your credit by not processing your payments etc.

Making an "interest free" $1,200 purchase…

I was trying to make a $1,200 purchase on the Lenovo (computer) website. Lenovo uses Synchrony Bank for their "spread the payments over one year with no interest" offer. The requirement to use verify.syf.com in this transaction killed the offer for me. I simply don't trust Synchrony Bank AT ALL My previous experience with them at Amazon was horrible, so I'm not voluntarily getting involved with them again. I think Synchrony's business model relies on sucking people into transactions that are almost guaranteed to fail one way or another, resulting in the Bank assessing usurious interest rates and excessive fees. My STRONG advice is to stay away from Synchrony. Stick with traditional banks and credit card issuers who are relatively transparent and who offer straightforward financial products. If you go with Synchrony there's an extremely high likelihood that you'll get burned and regret your decision later.

Terrible experience!!

Terrible experience!!, never get involved in any way with amazon Synchrony, I wish somebody could tell me before, definitely are usurers!!, they are going to find the way that the payment you do online is not going to be complete, so you think you paid on time, but not!!, later they are going to charge you late payment and ruin your credit score. I thought I paid, I got confirmation( saying paid) but later for some reason did not work ( suspiciously) and the money was returned to my bank account( I did not notice that) but they never called me or sent an email about this situation, so after 20 days I noticed my debt was more than double! I called, pay all of it, and canceled my account, they are really crooks!

Yearly data export for taxes is a nightmare

Doing my taxes was a nightmare with this bank. I have a Lowe's credit card, and needed to export all my 2021 transactions for tax purposes.

With Capital One, I selected a date range, a spreadsheet file format, hit download and imported into Excel.
With Discover, I selected a date range, a spreadsheet file format, hit download and imported into Excel.
With US Bank, I selected a date range, a spreadsheet file format, hit download and imported into Excel.
With Ally Bank, I selected a date range, a spreadsheet file format, hit download and imported into Excel.

With Synchrony, I hit export, then it gave me a list of individual months I could choose, but only up to 12 months ago (so missing the first few months of the year). I selected the first month, and it said there was no data for that month. I tried another month. Same.

I found where I could download individual statements in PDF format, so one-by-one, I downloaded each of those statements. Then for the older statements, I had to submit a request (again, one-by-one), and was told by the website that I can expect them in the mail within the next 2 weeks.

So what I was able to achieve in 5 minutes with every other site, took me about an hour on Synchrony, then I still have who-knows-how-many hours to manually enter all that data from PDF's into a spreadsheet, and then up to two weeks wait and who-knows-how-many more hours to manually enter data from paper statements.

Needless to say, my current frustration has resulted in my one star. Up until having to do my taxes, I didn't think it was that bad. I'm sure if you don't need data export, it's completely fine.

Synchrony Bank and their assorted…

Synchrony Bank and their assorted credit cards - unfortunately also associated with the Amazon Prime card - is the worst financial institution I have had the displeasure of doing business with. I'm not a disgruntled customer that owes them money, I'm a disgruntled customer who has had absolutely no luck with their customer service or with payment disputes. I am still waiting, as of 2/11/2022, for a chargeback to show to my account that the merchant processed on January 31st, 2022.

Their websites are a nightmare of popup chat boxes and surveys. Will I use you again? No. Will I recommend you to a friend? No. I might recommend you to an enemy, though.

There are much better credit offers, much better banks out there. Do some research and look at their reviews - Synchrony is terrible.

A joke among normal bank and IT products

I had to use Pay Pal of Synchrony and Amazon. With Pay Pal, I have no problems it used to have, but not anymore. But Amazon Synchrony is a joke! I applied as the promo was: make seven payments one after another one, and we will replace your secured credit card with unsecured. I've got a secured card with 100 dollars limit. I buy with it once in a while for three years, but they did not replace it with an unsecured one. No need to say that my score is 750 - 775 (varies). I have high limits everywhere, even at their Pay Pal but not Amazon. Amazon works well itself as well. But with this card, I can not log in to my account. I can not see my information. Have to guess, when my billing date closed. For three years, I have passed many verification processes and got promised that the issue will be fixed, but 3d year going and still, the issue is the same. I refuse to pass their verification anymore because I know that is useless and time-consuming. Phone verification doesn't work, and paper is just useless waste of time. Once other sites use 2FA, authentication apps - their site just doesn't work like that and requires bad working document verification or paper mail EVERY time you try to log in! I am in a trap because a credit score is important, and I can not close one old account without harm. So I froze my 100 dollars there and just waiting, not sure what for. The main thing I understood right now. They pretend that this is a security system, and they suspect it is not me, but a scammer. Ok. Old, not working, but ok, I would be ok if this is a security system, I understand this more or less. But attention, guys! When I was talking about closing my account in case of a score factor, she quickly and with enthusiasm offered me to close my account!!! So any scammer, who doesn't pass verification, can not log in, but can close my account simply? Here I found out that this is total discrimination and has nothing to do with my security.

Love the 5% cash back reward at Amazon SYF

I love using Amazon/SYF for the cash back. In the past two years I have received over $2000 in cash rewards, just for using my Amazon Prime Synchrony card for all purchases at Amazon. I like to let the cashback rewards accumulate and use them for large purchases. The caveat is, of course, that I pay the balance every month so that interest charges won't wipe out my cash back. As long as you do that, it's like free money. I did drop it down to 4 stars because I had to tell them when I wasn't receiving the 5% back for a period of time. It took a while, but they straightened it all out.
