Priceless Content Solution for SMB/Mid-size businesses. We've been using SurferSEO for our content generation and optimization needs since around 2023 or 2022 when practical AI tools began to explode. Prior to this, we were doing things manually, through S.M.E., or through other tools such as directly within ChatGPT to help; however, SurferSEO has been a game changer and one of the most important aspects that I value the most about SurferSEO is their competitiveness, natural interest in feedback & the speed to which they are continuously improving their product and offerings. With AI solutions rapidly expanding and features constantly evolving, this is critical for SurferSEO and competitors.

Speaking of competitors, for full transparency, we've explored and used a wide range of other solutions with the closest competitor in my opinion being Scalenut; however, we continue to stick with SurferSEO as the features and pricing are still better for our needs and Scalenut, or any other competitor to date, simply doesn't provide a compelling enough value or feature-set to entice us to switch solutions. We review solutions on a quarterly or bi-annual basis to make sure we're utilizing the right tool for the job while staying up to date with advances in solutions and capabilities, yet, SurferSEO is keeping pace if not over delivering on features, more quickly and beneficial than what we've seen with other competitors over the last few years which I think is underrated by many when assessing solutions for business demands.

None the less, here's a list of pros and cons based on our experience thus far in case it helps anyone.

Pros:
-Easy to use and one of the best automated methods of identifying and creating ideas, "human" style content from scratch & to optimize existing content across multiple websites, streamlined content process where you can create content briefs/outlines automatically, or build templates and use that as your content brief/outline.
-Full control over content creation/optimization processes from brief/outline to execution. You can automate like autopilot or cruisemode, deploy to Wordpress using dedicated SurferSEO plugin, or have a more hands-on approach.
-Love the ability to import/add pages by URLs or have the system scan existing websites for page URLs to optimize existing on-page content.
-Love the ability to have "Sites" to organize content optimization as well as Folders/tags to organize new content and existing content optimization.
-Has the ability to set targets/goals for Sites and tracks your progress towards those goals over time, sort of gamifies the content optimization and creation process for teams. You can set monthly or quarterly targets for organic clicks/rankings/etc... per Site.
-Relatively generous and competitive credit allowance; however, we're on a legacy plan which I find has more value & credits than current plans for less cost. Frankly, the current newest pricing is still a good deal and value but if we weren't on a legacy plan, I would be concerned about cost as I think the current pricing and plans are a bit pricey compared to competitors and plan features/credits.
-Ability to increase AI Credit allowance at any time without impacting subscription plan. If you need more AI credits, you can purchase more in bundles at competitive rates and not have to entirely upgrade your core subscription plan.
-AI Credits are applicable to pieces of exported/completed copy as far as I'm aware and not currently applicable to iterations of content. For instance, if you have 2 credits, that nets you 2 pieces of content such as 2 blog posts or pages and not iterations. This is a big deal in my opinion as most other solutions use credits for each AI Generation/Iteration of content. For example, with other solutions if you have AI generate content or re-write content, but you don't like it and have it re-generate/re-write the content again and again, these other solutions use an AI Credit for each attempt or version, sort of like free versions of ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot. SurferSEO at least for our legacy plan, which I don't think they've changed this for new plans either, the AI credits go by piece of content not by iterations of a single piece of content whether blog post or core page.
-Dedicated Wordpress Plugin is perfect for our needs, highly compatible and works well with RankMath, etc...

Cons:
-AI Tracker is nice but too expensive for our budget. Wish this was cheaper, especially for existing customers. Although, it is priced competitively with other solutions, it's still out of reach I think for SMB or many individuals.
-Dashboard is nice & easy to use but I feel lacks customization/personalization.
-Lacks integrations beyond GSC/Wordpress

I have been using SurferSEO for over 4 years now and I love it. It is easy to use and the support has always been great.

I use SurferSEO as one of my primary SEO tools, and it has helped me rank hundreds of articles on my client's websites. It is an excellent tool that they continue to refine and improve.

I love it! Surfer is a game-changer when it comes to SEO content writing. It's an absolute foundation for every content writer's work.

SurferSEO is an amazing tool for content optimization and SEO analysis. It’s super helpful for improving on-page SEO, keyword density, and overall content structure. However, I’ve noticed that sometimes it gives inaccurate NLP terms or pulls slightly off SERP data, which can be frustrating. Thankfully, this doesn’t happen often.

Apart from that, I’m really happy with everything they offer. From the Content Editor and Audit features to Keyword Research and the SERP Analyzer. It’s a complete package for anyone serious about SEO and content performance. Highly recommended!

Excellent software that I have been using for years, and it keeps getting better. Certainly, this software is expensive for individuals or small businesses, but it is well worth it.

The pricing is affordable compared to similar tools. AI drafts occasionally need edits, but the value and frequent updates make it excellent for marketers and agencies growing organic traffic efficiently.

I have been using Surfer for several months now, and it has definitely added to enhancing my blogs and articles. You just need to know how to use it.
In the beginning, it was difficult, but once I learned how to use it properly, it excelled.

Surfer SEO is high end SEO-tool which gives the work a lot of inspiration en comparision-digits. With the optimization meter you can see at a glance how good your optimized text can be.

Scam via credit burning. They promise 30 articles you will get 2, another ai scam

I purchased a large number of AI credits that I wasn’t able to use within a month, and then they required me to pay for a monthly plan in order to use my credits. Their humanizer tool produces articles of terrible quality. This tool is a scam.

I love the app but there is a few things that I feel needs to be fixed.I found on indeed that they were hiring for a job position part-time full-time then somebody got back to me. She's very sweet she helped me through his stuff. The only issue I have with the app is the lucky orders I keep on getting them the more money I'm putting into the app the more money I'm losing now for 15 days it was good I didn't have to put much money at all every time I was earning I was just saving it into the app well the next day kept on building and building and building this last two 6000 I got stuck with a lucky order of 1, 252 I was told that I have to fulfill that order to move on. I was like okay $6,000 plus that on top of it that's good money I could need that right now with this economy put it in today I got stuck with another right when I was finishing the task this time it told me I needed to put $2,000 plus to get 9k I was in shock 9k is a lot I could benefit from it. But I got upset because I could not fulfill that amount that they were asking for. Something needs to be fixed I contact my cash app where I did cryptocurrency and they told me they could not fix the problem because it was crypto.

I have just signed up with Surfer for a 1 year "Scale" subscription.

The software is fine, very comprehensive, though I find navigation a bit of a challenge at times, despite it having been simplified a little recently.

I chose this plan because the sales page says you get a free onboarding call, amongst other things, but I have yet to receive any notification or invitation for this. That's disappointing but it's early days...

The reason for dropping a start on the review, which would otherwise have been 4, I am constantly bombarded with emails from Surfer. Several emails a day.

I am trying to run my own business and simply don't have time to sit and watch 2 hour videos.

Just onboard me with my personal call. That's what I need!

SurferSEO has been a great tool to optimize articles, especially in English. I would love it if it was better in Spanish as well.
